In sum, Page has spent over $200,000 on personal items generated from donations received through BLMGA Facebook page with no identifiable purchase or expenditure for social or racial justice, FBI agent Matthew Desorbo said. Sir Maejor Page, 32, was arrested Friday in Toledo, Ohio, and is facing federal wire fraud and money laundering charges for allegedly spending the money on tailored suits, a home in Ohio, and guns. Page became involved with the Black Lives Matter movement in 2016 when he founded the Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta on Facebook. He used the page to solicit donations through a GoFundMe account, the FBI said. Black Lives Matter of Greater Atlanta raised nearly $470,000 between June and August, following the death of George Floyd on Memorial Day. “Numerous videos and livestream videos were posted to Page’s personal social media pages showing himself in what appeared to be newly purchased clothing, hotel rooms and office space in Atlanta,” the FBI said in its release. “Several audio statements are made by Page in the videos boasting about the money he has, his tailored suits, his nice cufflinks and ‘$150 dollar ties.’” He was charged with one count of wire fraud and two counts of money laundering. - @ppv_tahoe on Instagram

What a year its been. Today marks one year since rugby legend, @gareththomasofficial spoke publicly about living with HIV for the first time. Ive been living with this secret for years, Ive felt shame and keeping such a big secret has taken its toll. I was in a dark place, feeling suicidal. I thought about driving off a cliff. In an emotional video he posted online, Gareth pledged to fight to educate and to break the stigma. Hes done just that. Within days of Gareths announcement, we saw a surge in people clicking on our website to get information about HIV and a jump in orders for HIV tests. We were so proud to support Gareth that day in September when the eyes of the nation were on him as he smashed the IronMan Wales challenge, proving HIV doesnt hold you back from living life to the full. In the last 12 months, Gareth has teamed up with the Duke of Sussex to encourage more people to know their HIV status, taken an active role in the fight to end new HIV transmissions by 2030, oh and sat on that famous black chair on Mastermind to raise money to support the work of us at Terrence Higgins Trust! I dont post much anymore so the algorithm gods are probably not on my side here Think of all the fun times you’ve had in your life, and think of where they happened. If youre like me (sorry about that) a good chunk of them have probably happened at independent music venues. Even before Covid, running a venue was a gamble. Many of my best memories are of venues that no longer exist. In these Covid times, what once was a gamble became an all out battle for the salvation of the institutions that we hold dear. I know myself and my colleagues in the industry, both performers and professionals are going to fight like hell to save what can be saved, but it cant be done alone. If you value what these venues have brought in to your life then take a moment to help save theirs. Write your elected officials and ask them to support legislation that provides relief to those that are about to lose everything. In the meantime Wear a mask so that we can all get back to work sooner. If you wont wear a mask then the best thing you can do is shut your mouth, both literally and figuratively.
