My own flesh and blood told me “guys don’t do makeup” “you can’t make money doing that stuff” but look how far I’ve come ❤️ I followed that little Voice in my head that always told me to never give up when everyone else told me the opposite.. I knew this was the industry I wanted to be apart of when I was just a young child... I picked up my first makeup brush when I was 14 after losing the only person who truly believed in me, my passions, my spirit and my dreams (my mother). She was my inspiration as a Child. Watching her groom And pamper people behind the chair. Just seeing how she could make someone see themselves in a whole new light. ✨ She taught me everything has something beautiful about it but not everyone can see that. She thought me Self love, how to love others and treat others with kindness and I was Starting to lose that. She couldn’t follow her dreams so I know I had to do that for her. 10 years later, I still wake up just as excited as when I found that passion. I’m still excited to start my day, excited to work on something new, meet new amazing people and always excited to learn something fun and grow not only as a artist but as a human being. Something about coming full circle... 😉 Startups have a way of growing and changing. We originally started RUX because of our own frustration packing and hauling gear as we pursued the sports we love and the active lifestyles we all live. Then we dove into the world of crowdfunding chaos, marketing mayhem, and advertising algorithms. We wanted to stay open to all possibilities, so we took a step back from our outdoor adventure focus. Maybe soccer moms would love RUX? Maybe the pro-organizers? We learned what a #shelfie was. But the people are talking and despite multiple concussions, were listening. Supernatural. What can you say about a show that runs 15 seasons, except... Supernatural. It was a pleasure, no an honour, to be a part of this show. Whether I was making a monster or mangling a Winchester Brother, I always tried to make an appearance every season. I’m very excited to share my acceptance into the @whisfilmfest Screenwriters Lab with “Miracle Mother,” an adaptation of my mother’s (@kimmettonthecouch) Governor General’s Award-nominated play. The story is loosely based on her experience of giving birth to my sister, who was three months premature, and the subsequent struggle to find peace and forgiveness within herself, with her mother, and her spirituality. It has been a cathartic practice slipping on my mother’s shoes, reworking and adapting her play and our family’s story. By immersing myself in her experience of having two children less than a year apart (at the same age I am now), I’ve tapped into a well of empathy that gets to the heart of what I hope to express to the audience. The moment one sees their parents for what they are - Human. Ultimately, it’s a love letter to my mom, her art and creative drive, for which I owe my desire to create. I can’t wait to dive into this program and get this movie made. Thanks for all the love and support. I feel fortunate, honoured and privileged to have this opportunity. A really wonderful thing happened the other day. I got a call from a woman in Wisconsin saying she saw my pictures online of her old friend and wanted to see if I could get her contact information so she could mail her a letter. Her friend I photographed was Sister Jeanne Morreall. She has been fostering children who have physical and developmental disabilities for about 30 years. The woman on the phone had been looking through old papers at her desk since shes been quarantined and found something about Sister Jeanne. She hadnt seen her in over 60 years - they were neighbors growing up in Rochester. It just so happens when she googled she found my photos from 2017 on my old website. I called Sister Jeanne and got a chance to catch up with her since I hadnt spoken to her in a while. I was happy to find out that her and her foster children were doing well during these unusual times. The “Shrunken Head” video broke 100k views, and we don’t know what else to say besides thank you.
