The pub landlord could face a fine of until £10,000 The pub is The Gate Hangs Well in Syston, the building is owned by Everard’s brewery. We ask Everard’s for a response on this incident. “Whilst we own all of the buildings, all Everards pubs are run individually by independent business owners. We do offer support and as a local family business the health, safety and wellbeing of our business owners, their employees, their customers and their local community has always been at the heart of what we do even before the current pandemic. This has only increased since March and we are proud that our business owners have worked very hard to ensure that they are running covid safe premises which still offer a great experience. Flavours: The Mint Club have a set menu for Shisha flavours. The prices start at £15 and is no more than £20, not unless you start to add fruit head, ice pipes etc. It is worth noting as there was a confusion, that they only use Khalil Mamoon Shisha’s. For Shisha I had asked for a recommendation; they gave me Frozen Blueberry with Frozen Lychee with a touch of Irn Bru. I had originally asked to try out a new flavour and it smelt amazing, but when I smoked it, it wasn’t for me I asked for a new Shisha altogether. They do give disposable pipes and the Shisha was decent an lasted the time I was there. Price: The pricing of food is in par with places in the area, the most expensive item being the Large Pizza with Stuff crust which is £11.95p For food I ordered MC Legend Burger which is a 6oz beef patty, for Mocktail Passion Mist. The food was the right amount and was a decent meal. Overall: This was my second visit to The Mint Club, I saw a not so positive review about this place so I decided to turn up on boxing night. I asked a male friend to join me to have a low-key night out underdressed and no tagging etc, just as a regular customer to see if my experience is the same. As we entered we were greeted within two minutes, they were starting to get busy, they gave us a choice of seating as at that point there were some empty spaces, handed us the menu and said we will be back in 5 minutes so we can decide what to order. I decided to get indecisive, eventually I asked for a recommendation it was pineapple crush and something else, so nice. On that particular night they were fully staffed and considering it got really busy the service was good. I revisited yesterday and I went literally when they opened, so staff were busy preparing and cleaning getting ready for the night ahead. INSTA•REALITY 🤦🏼♀️ So here’s a picture of the front of our house as it stands today in all its glory! A mishmash of bricks, overgrown shrubs, breeze blocked up windows and rubbish and building materials discarded left, right and centre! 🤪 As you can probably tell the ‘old’ part of the house is to the right and the new double storey extension is on the left. Next week the work starts on the front entrance and I can’t bloody wait! 🙌🏼 The plans are to knock down the area that comes out at the front on the ground floor (the bay window which is currently hidden behind the overgrown shrubs and the front door to the right and out of view). We’ll be rebuilding it and putting the front door on the front, makes sense right! 👍🏼 We’re also changing the roof and once that’s all done we can FINALLY render the front (old part) of the house turning our ugly ducking into hopefully a beautiful swan. #200YearsOfOldStone: During the peak of the Civil War in 1863, members from Old Stone Church helped purchase a house on Wilson Street called the Home for Friendless Strangers. Individuals displaced or impacted by the Civil War were taken here for comfort, aide, and support. The Wilson Street house was later named the Lakeside Hospital and went on to become @uhhospitals_cle. Today, UH sits on more than 35 acres of land and leads the way in healthcare and technology. There are no limits to what a few strong-willed and passionate people can accomplish. We are thankful for the Old Stone members who set an example for each of us to lead with kindness. Resan har gått från Strömstad, ner längs västkusten, genom Göta kanal och över Östersjön till Gotland där fartyget ska tjänstgöra framöver. Besättningen lämnade Tjörn i fredags och nådde Visby igår kväll. Resan genom Göta kanal tog cirka 2,5 dygn och förutom allt slussande blev det en hel del trevliga möten med nyfikna förbipasserande. Our new electric van made its debut delivery run this week! This is the first electric vehicle we’ve found that combines the range and capacity to make it a contender to replace our current diesel fuelled vehicles - and the first trip was a success! It only has 60% of the box capacity of our usual vans but on its first run around the Oxford area it worked a treat. Jackson found himself anxiously checking the power gauge for the first few hours but it turns out the stop/start nature of deliveries meant the battery was always topped up and there was plenty of juice left at the end of the day. Our home isn’t a massive house it was a standard 3 bed semi detached house when we bought it but credit to my hubby he knew we could change it up ! - ➡️ to see the changes a few people think it’s not the same house because the tree at the back is gone 🤣 ! we had to remove some trees from the garden before our reno to make room and trimmed our neighbours one back , no fake pics here . We really wanted to keep the bricks exposed so we tried to match as best we could but there to damaged so we will have to render soon . And we put in new windows and doors three years before our big reno as the old ones were rotten so we couldn’t wait while we saved up . Today, in this nondescript building in a culturally diverse neighborhood deep in west London, I passed the UK citizenship test. Taking this test was weirdly emotional for me...the 5 year journey through temporary visas, confusing and complicated paperwork, ridiculous amounts of money spent on visa applications, immigration lawyers etc. has finally come to an end at long last. The fact that I can now permanently remain in the country where my daughter was born is a relief, but it’s no secret that the system favors people like me, and it’s such a bittersweet feeling to celebrate this milestone in my personal journey knowing that there are families all over the world that, due to circumstances beyond their control, can’t be together. Against the backdrop of the events of the past week, I was able to examine my privilege and look at the system that has benefitted me. While studying the official UK History book for this test, I tried to put myself in the shoes of a non-white person studying this material which, for the most part, treads very lightly on Black history (other than a brief couple of paragraphs on slavery) and makes few mentions of Black historical figures or pop culture icons. It made me realize how crucial it is that we expand curriculums to reflect the diversity of this world and educate the next generation, because at the moment the only way for me to learn about people like Harold Moody, Roy Hackett, Owen Henry, Audley Evans, Prince Brown, Ignatius Sancho, Olaudah Equiano, or John Edmonstone was to proactively seek out this (currently) alternative UK history. I’m embarrassed to say I wasn’t familiar with any of these people because I wasn’t proactive enough to educate myself. If it weren’t for events this week, I very likely would have passively accepted the whitewashed version of history in the 180 page “official” history book and moved on, but spending some time to dig a little deeper has given me perspective and woven a much richer historical tapestry. I’m thankful that we’ve all been shaken up a bit, and vow to continue to educate myself so that I can be the empathetic, positive and hopeful person that that I have always believed myself to be. - @msaimeephillips on Instagram

Photo update from the C-44 Stormwater Treatment Area (STA): Check out these recent photos of ongoing work on the C-44 STA in Martin County; five of the six total STA cells for the project are completed and hydrated, and new aquatic vegetation is thriving (second and third photos show aquatic vegetation in Cell 2). Once completed, the STA will store up to 9,450 acre-feet of water, including local basin runoff and Lake Okeechobee releases. Taking two decades to construct, Fort George was designed to be a military tour de force in the Highlands in the aftermath of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion. Following the battle of Culloden in 1746, King George II issued orders to begin work on the fortress to pacify the tumultuous Highlands and deter further attempts at armed resistance to the House of Hanover. Sitting on a spit of land, which forms a promontory jutting into the Moray Firth, the fort guarded the approaches to Inverness from land and sea. With its own harbour below the walls, the imposing star fort could be supplied by sea in the event of a siege. In spite of the supposed Jacobite threat that spurred its construction, the site has never been attacked since work first began on building it in 1748 and has remained continually garrisoned since 1769. As it transpired, the battle of Culloden was to be the last pitched battle fought on British soil, with the fervour for the Stewart cause eventually subsiding. Its figurehead, Bonnie Prince Charlie, would never again mount a challenge for the British crown and lived out the rest of his life in exile in France. The fort boasts ramparts more than 1km in length, enclosing an area of more than five football pitches within its walls. It is not the first Fort George that stood in the area, however. The first Fort George was built in 1727 in Inverness; it was a large fortress capable of housing 400 troops on a hill beside the River Ness, on the site of the medieval castle which had been rebuilt as a citadel by Oliver Cromwell but later abandoned. During the 1745 rising the fort was seized by the Jacobites, who had it blown up in 1746 to prevent the Hanoverians from using it as a base. Its purpose, too, was to to ensure peace in the area following the first Jacobite uprising of 1715.
