Hello! 🦋 🧚🏻‍♀️ 1. It’s been a minute ! These last few months I’ve been so caught up with college apps,if I’m being completely honest, I fell off food combining for a bit. 🧚🏻‍♀️ 2. I recently started getting back on track with my eating/exercise habits. This morning I woke up and made myself a HUGE fruit bowl and lemon water 🍋, and walked down to the bluffs by my house to start my day on a good note. ❤️ 3. Today marks the one year anniversary of the Woolsey Fire. One year ago today I lost my childhood home and the sense of community that I grew up feeling for the past 17 years of my life. Walking down to the beach this morning made me realize how grateful I am to see views like this on a daily basis. The past year hasn’t been the easiest transition, but it definitely has taught me a lot about myself and the world around me. ❤️ -The first picture was taken this morning🧚🏻‍♀️ - The second picture is a beautiful sunset at my old house, about two weeks before the Woolsey Fire hit ~ 🦋Just a little reminder that both are beautiful in their own way, and that sometimes to see the beauty in difference, we just have to unplug for a bit and look at the world around us 🦋 Hope everyone is having a great day!! Women in Cannabis: “Women-owned business make up roughly 13% of licensed retail and distribution operations in Los Angeles, according to a Leafly analysis”. (March 2018) Yet, women make up 1% more of the overall population in LA. Women of color, specifically, have dealt with the harm of the ‘War on Drugs”, firsthand by watching our men be incarcerated. When our men, fathers, husbands, brothers, cousins, or friends are consistently taken from our communities and *homes* to be placed in jails, it has a traumatic impact on us women too. We suffer in solidarity. ✊🏽 Our families, disenfranchised. It breeds a cycle of despair. I speak from experience, as a Mexican-American that has witnessed first hand, “the culture” of Los Angeles from an inner-city perspective. Many aspiring artists come here from small towns all across America (and even the world)...and pick up on the urban culture, put on their Instagram ready urban outfits, and play Tupac, like they know what it means to be from the streets. *i barely do* We love our visitors, but LOS ANGELES, it’s our home, and the culture is real. First of all... Yesterday was just.. WOW! If this year has taught me one thing it’s to fight for what I love. Going on 7 months of unemployment, battling with my moms mental health, starting my own business, meeting the man of my dreams. God has put my heart through the ringer this year. But I am the happiest I HAVE EVER BEEN. I’m not perfect but I’m doing everything I can to be the best ME. Yesterday brought me so much peace knowing that not only do I have the support of my friends, fellow artist, but also my community. Sacramento will always have my heart! Think about lifting your leg higher and higher with each rep as you contract your glute muscles. 25 REPS EACH SIDE. 2️⃣ Prone Froggy Lifts: Rest your forehead on your hands so that your neck is straight and supported. Bring your knees wide and touch your heels together to make a triangle with your legs. Lift your legs by squeezing your glutes and SLOWLY lower them. You build strength as you lower. 50 REPS. 3️⃣ Glute V Raises: Keep your forehead rested on your hands, bring your legs wide with your legs straight, and point your toes. A year ago today, I lost everything. The reason I wake up in the morning, the reason I go to work, the reason I lace up my shoes to run. I lost my best friend, my travel partner, the person I go to when I need to talk, the person that could look at me and know exactly what I was thinking or exactly what I needed. Over the ensuing year there have been ups and downs. Some moments that felt unsurvivable, some moments that brought a smile I never thought I’d make again. Every time I got lost in the woods, thought I might drown, picked a trail I wasn’t prepared to finish, you’d find me and show me the way. Whether it was the orange tree, the countless rainbows, the shooting star, or the deer that showed me the path. I know you’re still watching out for me. In time it’s gotten easier. The pain is still there every day but it’s a controllable and redirectable pain. Sometimes it’s paralyzing but sometimes it gives me strength. I love you G, I can’t wait for all of our encounters in the year ahead 💙. The first photo was taken August 15th and the second August 16th. Last sunset in California and first in Ohio. Something about needing to watch the sunset has been a large part of who I am for some chunk of time. Can’t describe why but it’s a part of me for some odd reason, as if the day needs closure in the same way the grade school part of my life needed closure, as if sleeping in my house as a resident needed closure, as if warm sunny days needed closure, as if with every day a part of me is lost and another part reborn. It’s interesting that with time one must close off things they love simply because they can’t do all the things they love anymore. Physical examples include stargazing, driving my car, and dancing in giant dance rooms. Emotional examples include Saturday nights and Sunday mornings, Jeep adventures, and watching the green flash. Spiritual examples include Refuge, the 10:45 service, and Emerald Cove. I’m slowly coming to the realization that I can’t recreate those relationships and moments, that in a new place it’s gotta be new. It’s been rough finding happiness knowing I’ve lost the worlds best weather, resources, and group of friends, yet it’s finally getting better now than I’m realizing such great things are out here as well, just in a different form. I’m so thankful for my friends, Kismat, Dhamakapella, Eldred, Clarke Tower, all of it, because I’m starting to realize what a great thing I’ve got here. I’m starting to turn a new leaf now that the majority of them have fallen off the trees, and I just thought that was something cool and worth sharing. Правда? ⠀ Но всё летит в тартарары, когда ребенок говорит: мама, у меня болит горло. И потом температура🤒, насморк.🤧 Ну только не это! 🤫😰Это самое последнее, что мы ожидаем на отдыхе. Можем впасть в панику, расстройство, ведь теперь дня три уйдет на то, чтобы поднять ребенка. Да??? ⠀ Нет. Только не в моем случае. Расстроилась я первые 10 секунд. Потом взяла супер бомбическую смесь эфирных масел ( без эфирных масел я не путешествую даже) ⠀ Итак, ⠀ 🟩Массаж стоп с эфирной смесью thieves ⠀ 🟨Массаж спины и груди с тем же эфирным маслом, разбавленный базовым маслом ⠀ 🟦3 к. ЭМ thieves + 3 k. ЭМ r.c. ( респираторная смесь, в состав которой входит три вида эвкалипта) в диффузор с водой ⠀ 🟪Закапала нос👃 водой💧 с гидроплазмой и нанесла на крылья носа смесь ЭМ R.C. ⠀ 🟥Уложила спать ⠀ ⚗️На утро температуры уже не было, сопли стали прозрачными, хотя ещё вчера были густые и зелёные. ⠀ Да, на утро он себя чувствовал прекрасно. Хотя мы решили не идти на пляж, а поучить польский и почитать по русски. ⠀ Сколько времени мне понадобилось, чтоб поднять ребенка? Правильно! Одна ночь!🌌 ⠀ ⚗️Магия? Волшебство? ⠀ Нет! I love to eat at healthy cafes and restaurants that focus on sustainability and use local produce. My favorites are Kaimana Farm and Peace cafe. For healthy smoothies I stop by Leahi Health and my favorite acai bowls are from Lanikai Juice. When I am craving good local beer I head to Three Peaks in Kailua but I do love the Mai Tai’s at the Royal Hawaiian. Oh, if you are looking for something sweet definitely check out Manoa Chocolate or We Heart Cake Company! . 🌿 My favorite Hanalei product is… . Hmmm if I had to choose? The body and lip scrub! I love the gentleness of the exfoliation and it makes my skin feel rejuvenated. The aloe gel comes in handy though, we are in the sun a lot here in Hawai’i! We are returning to the dark from whence we came. I never feel more alive than I do in autumn, with its radiant color explosions, the chill that I can feel within my bones, the magic that floats like the fey on every breeze. Even when everything feels hopeless, autumn will remind you that all of life moves in cycles. And so we continue. We forge new paths and rest our weary bodies against one another. Nature has a beautiful way of speaking to you. My world turned upside down 2 weeks ago with the sudden illness of my dad (and his brother, my uncle). A foreign pain and ache in my soul. Now, I’ve been on many trails and seen plenty of heart shaped engravings with people’s initials n’ such. But to stumble upon this heart shape with the words “Dad” inside, overwhelmed me with a comfort and hope since our prayers have been for his full recovery ❤️ . Any lesson or advice will be useful when youre ready to receive it. I have some key lessons here, which you should apply in yoga. I remember I came across it a long time ago. Now I see these lessons through the years of experience in practicing yoga in more depth. And I wanted to share them with you. Save it and return again and again to it🙏 🙏Listen to your body. Only through your own internal awareness, will you come to understand when to work harder or deeper and when to move more slowly. 🙏The breath should always be louder than your internal dialogue. 🙏Never force yourself into a pose, no posture is worth injury. 🙏Take the ambition out of it. You are competing with no one. 🙏Less is more with yoga. Take your time and build your practice slowly; there is nowhere to “get” to. 🙏Set up a regular practice for yourself. Venice Beach is so lively, isn’t it?. . Get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. ⁣ ✨Commit to daily movement; variety is good. Move at least 30 minutes a day. ⁣ ✨Schedule in technology free time. ⁣ ✨Support your gut health. Today marks exactly half way through my trip! I’ve had the most incredible time exploring Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Philippines, Australia and now New Zealand! With 15 weeks until the Vienna Marathon, I’ve decided to stop using Hanson’s marathon method and go for a less time-demanding plan. Currently I’m finding it too difficult to fit in 6 days a week of running, along with strength training and yoga, whilst backpacking. A 4 day plan will be more realistic to stick with whilst sightseeing and constantly moving between cities/countries. Still haven’t found a good new plan so I’m making it up as I go for now 😬 here’s a photo from my run/walk along the Coogee to Bondi path and back. This week on Saturday’s yoga for everyone, we would like to introduce one of our yoga every hour collaborators - Janhvi @onyourmats_yogagirl We asked Janhvi for her yoga journey. “I started going to a yoga class in 2009 but found it extremely boring and slow. I have always been an active person and played football and basketball since school, so slow things always bored me. My mom started taking me to these yoga classes as the instructor said that it will help me focus on my studies better. Initially, I didnt really enjoy but eventually I got the hang of it and then there was never looking back from there. I practised yoga on and off until 2017 and then I did a formal yoga course from the oldest yoga institute in the world. It’s been almost 3.5 years and I love getting on my mat every single day. I feel like I am missing on my oxygen supply if I miss my yoga practice for some reason. Whatever happens outside the mat, it doesnt affect my place on the mat. I am much more focused, calm, and full of energy when I do yoga.
