Il 3 settembre per i Viterbesi non è un giorno. È l’abbraccio finale di un crescendo di emozioni. Per tutti gli altri è una delle tradizioni più spettacolari d’Italia, patrimonio immateriale dell’Umanità. La Macchina di Santa Rosa è la torre più bella di questa città medievale, quella che dura da secoli e che si rinnova continuamente. È il simbolo dello spirito di una popolazione, di un sentimento che unisce tutti. Più di 100 facchini, 30 metri, 5 tonnellate sono solo numeri. Questi uomini portano sulle loro spalle, con “fede, forza e volontà”, il peso incalcolabile di una devozione che dura da quasi 800 anni. A Viterbo i primi quattro giorni di settembre sono i più attesi dell’anno, la città s’immerge nel clima di festa con orgoglio, emozione ed un forte senso di appartenenza. 𝐏𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐞 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐳 Esta semana nos adentramos en el Jerez antiguo, en sus murallas y analizamos sus puertas. Las antiguas puertas que daban entrada a la ciudad amurallada. La muralla de Jerez, se construye en época musulmana como elemento de defensa y protección de la ciudad y todavía se conservan algunos resquicios. El buen estado en el que se conservan estos restos de muralla, se debe al uso de diferentes materiales como ladrillo, cantería y la técnica del tapial para su construcción. Esta técnica consistía en utilizar cajones de madera desmontables, en los que se vertían arena, cal, agua, grasa, paja, tierra y fragmentos cerámicos. Posteriormente se compactaba y se le daba consistencia. Actualmente, sólo se conservan en la ciudad una de las cuatro puertas más famosas de la ciudad, la del Arroyo. Microcosm - shown for a month at the National Art School in Sydney Australia. (Part of a photo grid) Have you ever stood at the water’s edge and seen the patterns the waves have made in the sand, then looked up into the sky and seen the same patterns made by the wind in the clouds, only thousands of times bigger? Microcosm is about the building blocks of the universe, and how there is an aesthetic consistency throughout the natural world, even though the scale may change enormously. We love that people interpret this work as perhaps an exploding petrie dish of bacteria, or a coral reef, or the synapses of a brain, or the Big Bang in action. In fact, we guess that it’s all of these things, clusters of communities working together to make its ‘whole’ much stronger and better than the sum of its parts. He and his community inspired us with the way they educate, using food as a common ground between people.
