. 📍Ibarra 🚏Antiguo Cuartel Militar 🗓1930 ———————————————————————— ✒️📜La idea de crear una estructura militar de este tipo en la ciudad de Ibarra se debe a que en el tiempo de la Real Audiencia fue un sector estratégico desde la perspectiva militar. Durante el período republicano, en el mes de enero de 1858, el comandante Luis Villavicencio Leiva fue nombrado primer jefe de la guarnición de Ibarra y envía un informe al ministro de Defensa en Quito que dice: “el cuartel del batallón Calderón de Ibarra está compuesto por 705 integrantes, ocupamos una casa maltrecha frente a la plaza llamada de la Merced”. En agosto de 1868 ocurre el terremoto de Ibarra y no quedó ninguna evidencia de aquel cuartel militar que en otros tiempos albergó a los batallones Záparos, Pichincha, Mariscal Sucre, Yaguachi, Ricaurte y Vencedores. En el año de 1907, el mayor Joaquín Delgado, comandante del batallón Jaramijó N⁰ 8, construye un nuevo edificio bajo la supervisión de José Domingo Albuja, quien trazó los planos dándole una configuración medieval y al siguiente año se inaugura la parte frontal. De esta forma nace el Antiguo Cuartel Militar de Ibarra, ubicado en las calles José Joaquín de Olmedo, entre Juan José Flores y García Moreno. Esta edificación emblemática de la ciudad, desde la década de 1980 cambia su administración, el cuartel deja de ser de los militares para ser administrado por una institución pública. En el año 2000, la Municipalidad de Ibarra presenta la propuesta de convertir al cuartel en un museo, pero no es hasta el año 2013 que esta propuesta se pone en marcha consiguiendo los recursos para su remodelación. Statue of St. Cecilia at ⛪ St. Cecilia’s Church (Brooklyn, NY, 🇺🇸 USA). St. Cecilias is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Diocese of Brooklyn located at North Henry and Herbert streets, Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York. It is named for Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music. The founding of the parish of St. Cecilia in 1871 was made to the Diocese of Brooklyn at the request of several families in the neighborhood of the present church—many of them were Irish immigrants who settled in Greenpoint. The current church in the Romanesque Basilica style was constructed in 1891 based on plans supplied by architect Thomas Henry Poole hired by the then pastor, Rev. Edward J. McGoldrick. The corner stone was laid by Bishop Charles Loughlin on September 27th, 1891. It was dedicated in 1893 by Bishop MeDonnell, and the first Mass celebrated within its walls was sung by Most Rev. Francesco Satolli, Apostolie Delegate to the United States. The church seats over 800 people. The white marble blocks used in construction of the main church and on the rectory are of Georgian Marble and it is believed that they were originally intended for St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Manhattan. As the color was not quite the right match—the material sat in a warehouse for many decades before Father McGoldrick obtained it for the construction. The main altar which is behind the present day Post Vatican II altar is constructed of Caen marble being extremely rare and expensive material that was considered highly experimental at the time of construction. The edifice is also notable for the illuminated bell tower with copper roof. 🛒Mercado del Centro, también llamado Mercado Viejo 📍Manzana de Perú, Chacabuco, Alsina y Moreno . 🔙Hace un par de meses mencioné de pasada este mercado en la publicación sobre la Columna Metereológica y también en la de las edificaciones que se han perdido en el Casco Histórico, que hicimos en conjunto con @casco.historico.protege. Por la cantidad y calidad de material fotográfico realmente este mercado merecía una publicación aparte, así que allá vamos... . 🍎El mercado comenzó a funcionar en 1823. Aparentemente reemplazó a un cuartel de granaderos y éste a su vez a un mercado de esclavos. . 🏛Una de las entradas al mercado era un arco ubicado frente a una plazoleta, donde actualmente se alza el monumento a Julio Roca. También había otro arco de entrada, que en aquellos tiempos era llamado socarronamente El Arco del Triunfo de la Buseca (3). . 🥩El mercado era uno de los mejores provistos de la ciudad y abastecía a los vecinos a diario con miles de kilos de frutas, legumbres, pescado, carne, queso, manteca, gallinas, patos, gansos, conejos, perdices, embutidos, hielos, etc. . 🌡En 1911 se decide emplazar allí la columna meteorológica, obsequio del imperio austro-húngaro por el centenario y obra del ingeniero Marcovich, pero duraría poco en su ubicación original, ya que el fin del mercado llegaría en 1912 por la apertura de la Diagonal Sur. It’s not very often that I get to take pictures of Rhiannon but seeing as it’s her birthday, here’s some of my favourites from 2020 so far. The Notre Dame cathedral is amazing,The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, and it is among the largest and best-known church buildings in the Catholic Church in France. It is very historic as constriction started in 1163 and then continued in till 1345 and additions have been added throughout the years and centurys. The best area of the cathedral are the spire at the east side of the church and the rose window as well as the front of the cathedral and main entrance. So today I happened to see our 15 year old on ORU’s(a university) website. I freaked and smiled at the same time...I was also watching our oldest son take pictures today, something he loves to do and you’ve encouraged him in ...the others are coming along as well and it’s wonderful to see the hand of God on their lives. I know we do this together but so much of their development is a direct reflection of you. When they were small you hoped and prayed you were doing it right...and while we still pray (a lot) I gotta tell you I think you are doing it right! 😉 I’m watching the level of consistency in each “product” and while I know it’s God, I also know that the recipe you’ve put together has proven itself. El 11 de octubre de 1739 fue la solemne dedicación del Convento de Monjas Carmelitas Descalzas de #Caracas, obra piadosa establecida por iniciativa de doña Josefa Melchora de Ponte, viuda de don Nicolás de Liendo, quien había destinado sus bienes -incluyendo una espaciosa casa situada al Sur de la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Altagracia- a tal propósito. El inmueble, de dos pisos, poseía una capilla de una nave orientada en sentido Este-Oeste, la cual abría sus dos puertas gemelas a la calle “de la Factoría”, en la actual #avenidaUrdaneta. Los coros bajo y alto, reservados para el uso de las propias monjas, ocupaba la esquina del edificio. Sobre la fachada Oeste (#Carmelitas a #Altagracia), se encontraban la “Portería”, acceso principal al Convento, y la puerta del “Locutorio seglar”, sitio en el que —según explicaba el historiador #CarlosManuelMöller—, “a través de una reja con celosía, podía hablarse con la monja a quien se permitía tal comunicación”. El 9 de mayo de 1874, #AntonioGuzmánBlanco emitió un decreto mediante el cual se extinguían los conventos femeninos, pasando sus bienes al dominio público. Tras unas reformas, la antigua casona fue destinada al Ministerio de Hacienda. Treinta y tres años más tarde, en 1907, el presidente #CiprianoCastro dispone su demolición total para construir el Palacio de Hacienda, obra del ingeniero-arquitecto #AlejandroChataing, el cual a su vez fue demolido en el año 1953, durante las obras de la avenida Urdaneta. El cuerpo bajo del Banco Central de Venezuela, diseñado por el arquitecto #TomásJoséSanabria, ocupa desde 1967 el área del antiguo Convento, en la esquina que aun hoy se conoce como de “Las Carmelitas”. ° ° ° ° En las imágenes: 1.
