Last night the smash broadway hit Hamilton hit primetime on Disney +. My bride and I were fortunate enough to see Hamilton on Broadway with the original cast. It was a date night we will never forget. There are many personalities that could have been pulled from the Founding Fathers to make equal or maybe even greater stories, but that is not important. As we watched it with our daughters last night, they both asked if this was “real”. I asked, “Do you mean is the history real? And that was their curiosity. Instead of focusing on historical accuracy, I answered, “Yes, and it highlights some of the best themes of that moment in history”. There are too many themes from this nations Revolutionary history to touch on, but one always seems to undo me. It is what the founders and signers of the Declaration of Independence pledged. They saw a wrong--many wrongs--and decided to lead. They knew once this effort was set in motion, there would be only two results: victory or certain death. I think of my time at war and realize that had we been captured, the results would have been equally dire, but we enjoyed the most powerful military force and teammates ever assembled. These men were about to go to war primarily with merchants and farmers. Talk about guts. I will end with the pledge from the Declaration of Independence as it is one of my favorites ever written:⠀ ⠀ “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.⠀ ⠀ Happy Independence Day.⠀ Ever Onward.⠀ ⠀ #everonward - @rorketdenver on Instagram
