How can a support partner help mom during labor? Support people play a key role in mom’s confidence and wellbeing. Here are a few things you can do to make labor easier: 1. Take childbirth education classes. This will help you understand the process and what is happening to mom’s body. 2. Be mom’s advocate. Discuss the birth plan in advanced. Talk to your partner beforehand to learn how she feels about the different procedures (epidural, episiotomy, birth interventions, etc.) and what kind of support they want. 3. Show your support. Birth can be frightening. You are the best person to help mom regain confidence and get her back on track during her process. You know her better than anyone. Let her know she is doing a great job. 4. Make the occasion special. This is a unique experience in a woman’s life. A day she will remember for the rest of her time. Spoil her, show her your love, bring her flowers, find a special way to make this special day even better. 5. Don’t complain. Mom is going through a lot, so the last thing she wants to hear is complaints. Your sore back or boredom are not the priority at this stage. Be positive! - Update: After four years of infertility and a very complicated pregnancy, our son, Orion, was born this morning.

As soon as I got engaged the comments started flowing in of all of the negative things to expect out of marriage. Especially since we got married young. It was scarcely different when I found out I was to be a mama. Oh you think you are tired now, just wait until that baby is here. Youll never have time for yourself again, soak it up now. Those nights with a newborn are just awful. Just wait until she is walking, youll have to put all of your pretty things away! And countless other warnings and you just waits. Im sure these people meant well, only to let me know of what was coming, or perhaps it was what they had experienced with their own babe(s). But your experiences may not be someone elses + Ill never understand why we feel we should try to pass on a box of our negative feelings + frustrations on to new wives, mamas, + homemakers. All packaged up + labeled in our wisdom. Can we change the way we speak to other women in these new seasons? The reality of life will be there in its own way for them in its own time. New wives + mamas often tend to already have their own little basket of uncertainties when approaching such life changes--without others piling what they think they will or should experience on top. The Bible tells us continuously to speak life over one another, encourage one another, + build each other up. For the older women to teach the younger women to rise to their calling, not explain why they may fail, why it may be too great a burden for them carry. Can we instead say, Wait until you get those precious moments alone at night just you and that new baby. Oh I know it is so hard right now. But just like so many other parts of Motherhood, it is so worth it. You are so capable of figuring it all out, of learning. I believe you will be such a good wife/mama! Im praying the Lord is with you through this new season, and equips you for the adventure ahead. Can we think twice about what words of wisdom we share? Can we remind Mamas/wives of the what blessings + what delight will come from such gifts the Lord has bestowed to them as marriage + motherhood? Querida gestante, Dando sequência à história sobre como idealizei o @queridagestante, lembro de estar à luz de velas, sentada em uma bacia com água morna e camomila, quando firmei um ritual próprio de conexão com o meu corpo e com a minha bebê. No silêncio da noite, abracei a mim mesma e me refiz de tudo o que havia escutado sobre possíveis falhas, perigos ou alertas relacionados ao meu corpo e ao parto. Naquele dia, também se iniciava o meu processo de desidentificação do rótulo de gestante de alto risco. Com isto, não estou dizendo que passei a negar o fato de ter tido uma trombose anos antes de engravidar, nem as sequelas mínimas que ela deixou na minha circulação. O pacto que fiz comigo mesma foi o de olhar e nutrir a outra metade da história: a saúde! E, com ela, a vida. Um caminho a ser trilhado pela via do prazer e não mais pelo medo. . E foi assim que comecei a procurar outro obstetra. Alguém capaz de me enxergar para além da categorização da gestação pela hierarquia baixo, médio e alto risco. Ter uma doula nessa caminhada foi essencial, não só por facilitar o acesso à informação de qualidade, algo que, por si só, já seria valioso, mas especialmente por eu ter tido o presente das Deusas de ter uma doula que era também uma amiga de longa data. Nós havíamos nos conhecido, justamente, na época em que eu me recuperava da trombose e nos reencontramos, ao acaso, poucos dias depois que eu soube que estava grávida. Um verdadeiro era para ser (né @fisioedoula 😊❤). . Até esse ponto de virada, meu maior temor estava em ser ou não saudável, em duvidar da capacidade do meu corpo em gestar. Algo bastante comum, inclusive, para outras muitas mulheres com histórias de gestações completamente diferentes da minha. Um medo, um receio e uma interrogação que, também, nos conectam ao fio invisível da vida. À história das mulheres que vieram antes de nós. E, ainda, à matriz feminina de cada mulher, as nossas ancestrais. We made it!! 😍 6 months of breastfeeding my baby girl & Im so proud we made it this far😍 We havent had an easy journey, but Im so glad I can continue breastfeeding Violett as I have such a special bond with her & I really love breastfeeding🥰 I am continuing to have a dairy free diet due to Vi having CMPI. We introduced formula about 2 weeks ago to assist with her excessive vomiting, causing poor weight gain. Which is now be ruled down to ger intolerance to cows milk protein (hopefully nothing else, but trial & error at this stage). She has only been having the bottle at night time & the day bottle every now and again. ✨ La suite 2/✨ Ça y est, mon petit bébé nest plus relié à son placenta qui laura fait grandir pendant 9 mois. Nous le conservons, il a tant de vertus ! Je vous montrerai ce que lon en a fait. On pèse bébé, 3,445kg! Flo le prend en peau à peau, contre son cœur de papa tout neuf. Et puis A. sen va et reviendra le lendemain. Jai envie de faire pipi mais aucune force de me lever. De toute façon je dois rester allongée le plus possible pour que mes organes se remettent en place doucement. Je traîne littéralement mon corps jusquau pied du matelas pour faire dans la bassine que Flo ma amenée. Ça fait mal. Jai la tête qui tourne. Je suis épuisée. Mon corps me réclame à manger après 20h sans rien avoir avalé (et en ayant tout donné soit dit en passant 😜). On avait prévu des plats à décongeler pour mon postpartum, que javais cuisinés avec ma maman. Mais pas prévu de plat rapide à manger juste après laccouchement... Il y a des ravioli dans le frigo, Florian me les prépare pendant que je suis toujours allongée avec bébé dans les bras. Les ravioli ne sont même pas bons mais tant pis jai faim ! Les heures qui suivent, on appelle nos familles. Leur réaction de bonheur nous fait chaud au cœur en cette période de confinement. Et puis on déménage dans notre lit, cest plus confortable. Je prolonge notre fusion commencée il y a 9 mois dans mon ventre en gardant bébé collé à moi le plus possible. Je ne peux pas me séparer de lui ! Mon petit mari est aux petits soins pour nous et nous resterons au lit près de 2 semaines. Il mapportera à manger et à boire, nous câlinera, mépaulera quand je souffrirai tant des tranchées, nous aidera à la mise en place de lallaitement, se renseignera encore plus que moi, appellera notre sage femme à 4h du matin, me soutiendra et me dira que je peux le faire... Plus qu’un petit mois avant de te tenir dans nos bras... Il y a un peu moins d’un an, on a suspecté une tumeur, puis de l’endométriose, puis tout un tas d’autres pathologies potentielles, avant de finalement diagnostiquer un SOPK sévère. On m’avait alors annoncé que je ne pourrais pas avoir d’enfants naturellement. 3 mois plus tard pourtant... nous avons découvert, complètement incrédules, que tu avais fait ton nid dans mon ventre. Ça nous a fait peur le temps d’un instant. Et puis ce fut évident. Tu étais là pour une raison. Quelques semaines plus tard j’ai entendu ton coeur battre pour la première fois. C’est à ce moment là que j’ai réellement pris conscience de la chance que nous avions et de l’amour inconditionnel que l’on peut ressentir en devenant maman. Ce même jour, le docteur a vérifié l’état de mes ovaires car une grossesse avec un SOPK n’est pas toujours évidente. Ovaire gauche complètement rétabli. Ovaire droit en cours d’amélioration. Grâce à toi. C’est seulement à ce moment, soulagée, que j’ai commencé à vivre cette grossesse. Certes je n’ai pas pu la vivre comme je l’aurais voulu. J’aurais préféré que nous puissions être avec ton père tout du long, mais pandémie oblige, il a fallu composer avec les technologies pour vivre tout cela ensemble, comme une famille. Dieu merci j’ai des amis et une famille qui nous ont apporté tout l’amour et le soutien nécessaires pour avancer aussi sereinement que possible à travers cette grossesse confinée loin de ton papa. Ça n’a pas été facile tous les jours. Ton papa m’a énormément manqué et continue encore de me manquer chaque jour. Cela a été extrêmement frustrant de ne pas vivre chaque étape de ton développement avec lui, de ne pas pouvoir lui faire sentir tes coups de pieds, de ne pas pouvoir préparer ton arrivée avec lui, mais je suis extrême heureuse et reconnaissante que tu te portes à merveille et que tout se soit si bien passé.
