This time-out period of calm and silence turned out to be a huge blessing for me, so I have decided to take a bit of a longer break from the stage and explore new directions. Elizabeth’s gorgeous kunzite, amethyst, and diamond “Triphanes” sautoir by Van Cleef & Arpels was purchased for her in 1973 by her then-husband #RichardBurton. The beautiful lavender and violet necklace, bracelet and earrings were designed as a series of oval-cut kunzites, each within a circular-cut diamond surround, alternating with amethyst bead hoops, joined by circular-cut diamond links, and mounted in 18k gold. The necklace also features a detachable pendant. Elizabeth wore these jewels on a number of occasions, particularly during the 1970s. Though culpable for His immoral acts of stealing and offending the villagers in various ways, Krishna tried to minimize His misdeeds by speaking very sweetly. Responding to the charges of the gopis, Krishna said, “Mother, none of these ladies have any affection in their hearts. They are not speaking a single word of truth. Actually they are all liars, and have given up their human dignity. Whenever I see them or their sons I feel completely happy. 今天這一套，是之前拍的照片，因為最近暫時無法一直拍攝新的，所以想起了過去每張照片的背後，其實都還有好幾張不同的樣貌，就像這一套。 最近我們的發文頻率延遲了很多，其實是因為我的爸爸（萬秀的兒子）動了一個大手術，我（孫子）每天基本上都在醫院照顧爸爸，所以暫時沒有辦法一直跟阿公阿嬤拍照，而阿公阿嬤也因為自己兒子在醫院較為心煩。 但我覺得我們很幸運，每天還是會收到很多的鼓勵和留言，雖然從一開始到現在已經過了2個多月，但到目前為止，每當我念大家的留言、訊息給萬吉秀娥聽時，他們還是會笑的很開心，還是一樣沒想到有那麼多人喜歡他們。真的很謝謝大家，因為大家，他們也能有些重心不那麼心煩... Today’s photo was taken two months ago. We’re not able to update new photos recently, but everytime we see these photos, it reminds me the story behind it, just like this one. Our posts were delayed since my father(Wantshows’ son) just had a major surgery and I(the grandson) need to look after him everyday. That’s the reason why I was not able to take new photos and Wan-Ji & Show-Er is also a bit down because of it. However, I think I’m lucky because I receive encouraging messages and comments everyday. Though it has been two months since this account is created, everytime when I read the messages and comments to my grandparents, they still laugh and feel very blessed, they have never thought that one day they can have so much love from all over the world. There’re always warm smiles on their faces everytime when I share your comments with them. Siempre hay una primera vez para todo, ayer fue mi primer directo en la radio con Txell Bonet y @rogerescapa . La entrevista transcurría en la sección “fuera del rebaño”, yo oveja descarriada, explicaba los entresijos de pastorear libremente entre fibras de sombreros. A lo loco y sin pensar, aquella manualidad que empezó complaciéndome como autocliente acabó conquistando la cabeza de más de uno y así abrí mi primer taller. Sin expectativas, fui aprendiendo del poder de la aguja, sintonizando colores con tejidos, destruyendo materiales para construir mi propia materia. Soy un poutporri de enlaces monárquicos retransmitidos, clases sobre pintura barroca, viajes de caza tesoros y probadora de los mil y un oficio artesanos que encuentro por el camino. Adoro el pliegue de Liebniz y la arruga bella de Adolfo Dominguez (aunque le otorgara la actitud a Roberto Verino). Arrastro desde la infancia el amor por los trajes folklóricos, para mi son puro estudio antropológico. Y finalizamos con la anécdota de un cinturón encontrado en la calle, ceñido a la cintura de Txell, el objet trobé fue mío y donado a Cáritas, me hace feliz saber que seguirá vistiendo, complementando. For the next 10 days well be sharing images from our collection of Old Spanish Days Fiesta history. Todays image was taken at our own Covarrubias adobe (1817). It features internationally acclaimed dancers José Manero and Paquita del Rey celebrating Old Spanish Days. In 1940, they were hired to perform for the “Nacimiento de Santa Barbara,” a popular nighttime review at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. Manero became a mainstay of Fiesta dance over the next two decades in his own performances, and through generations of students still dancing today. Me at 19. A brilliant photographer called Lesley Howling stopped me in the street and asked me if I’d heard of Frida Kahlo (I hadn’t). In the middle of packed central London, this stranger started telling me all about Frida - and I was transfixed. It was easy to persuade me to pose as Frida. I posed for Lesley a few times and working with her was always special - she was irrepressible, bursting with life and filling me up with stories of artists and authors I had never heard of. Lesley did some stunning work, and some of her photographs of travellers in Britain in the 80s are now in the Museum of London. Lesley died in 2006. Han pasado 113 años desde el nacimiento de la pintora más importante de América Latina, Frida Kahlo, no solo por sus maravillosas pinturas sino por su vida llamativa, llevándola a ser la pintora mexicana más conocida a nivel mundial. Ícono del arte mexicano en el mundo. Entre los problemas de salud y las relaciones amorosas, pintó cuadros que hasta el día de hoy sorprenden por la belleza y tristeza implícita. Su obra fue tan excepcional que Autorretrato El Marco (1938) fue la primera pintura de un artista mexicano del siglo XX en ser comprada por el Museo del Louvre. La impactante calidad de sus sentimientos plasmados son un reflejo de lo vivido por esta mujer libre y con mente abierta. Fue autora de unas 200 obras, principalmente autorretratos, en los que proyectó sus dificultades por sobrevivir. Assassination of Benazir Bhutto by a 15-year old! On 27 December 2007, Benazir drove out to Rawalpindi to address an election rally at Liaquat Bagh, a public park that was heavy with history. In 1951, Pakistan’s first prime minister, Liaquat Ali Khan, was shot dead here. Benazir was in a buoyant mood. Election was only weeks ago. With no serious opponent, she seemed likely to become prime minister for a third time. At the rally in Rawalpindi, she addressed her supporters with passion and urgency. Around her, strange things started to happen. Under the stage, a security guard named Khalid Shahenshah rolled his eyes toward Benazir, as if signaling to someone in the crowd. He pulled his finger across his throat in a slicing motion. In the crowd, a teenager named Bilal pushed forward. He wore dark glasses and a dark leather jacket which was packed with explosives. After the speech, Bhutto climbed into her Toyota Land Cruiser and insisted on standing through a hatch in the roof to wave at supporters. Bilal stepped forward, raised a pistol and fired three shots. As Benazir collapsed into the vehicle, Bilal detonated his vest, triggering an explosion. An hour later, she was pronounced dead. In an eerie coincidence, the man who tried to save her was the son of the doctor who had tried to save prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan in 1951. Within hours of Bhutto’s death orders were sent to fire officers to hose down the crime scene, washing away valuable evidence. Benazir’s damaged vehicle was thoroughly cleaned before forensics experts could examine it. Khalid Shahenshah, the bodyguard seen behaving strangely, was shot dead outside his home in Karachi. Baitullah Mehsud, the Taliban leader who had claimed responsibility for the attacks, died in an American drone strike. And a team of United Nations investigators, who arrived in Pakistan to probe Bhutto’s death, failed to reach a conclusion after complaining of unrelenting obstruction from the security forces.
