Our Deakin University Building KA Infill Refurbishment - Waurn Ponds Campus project has reached Practical Completion! In late November 2018 we were engaged by @deakinuniversity to deliver the $28m main works at their Waurn Ponds Campus. This logistically challenging project was completed over two stages. Stage 1 involved the construction of a new three level infill to the existing quadrangle while the facility remained fully operational. Stage 2 involved demolishing the existing interiors followed by the full refurbishment of the 4500m2 Level 5 floor plate. The infill extension has enabled establishment of additional accommodation to suit the updated needs and expanding requirements of the staff and students @h2oarchitects - @kaneconstructions on Instagram

Colegio La Salle La Colina Al comenzar la década de 1940, el #ColegioDeLaSalleDeCaracas (actualmente conocido como #TiendaHonda), resultaba insuficiente para la cantidad de solicitudes de inscripción que recibía. Es entonces cuando se piensa en la posibilidad de abrir una sucursal para aliviar el congestionamiento de La Salle #Caracas. Se buscó un terreno hacia el Este, propiedad del urbanista #LuisRoche, en el sector denominado #LaColina, de la nueva urbanización #LosCaobos, donde ha funcionado hasta el día de hoy. El hermano #GastónElie, director de Tienda Honda, compró el terreno el 7 de septiembre de 1942 y de inmediato se dio a conocer el proyecto. Se comienzan los primeros movimientos de tierras en diciembre de 1943 y el primer edificio, de #ArquitecturaModerna, estuvo listo tal día como hoy 25 de septiembre del año 1944 para recibir a los 89 alumnos fundadores. El 16 de diciembre de ese mismo año se bendijo e inauguró el nuevo edificio en donde funciona actualmente Media General (4to y 5to Año) La participación de la Iglesia se hizo presente en la inauguración del colegio en la persona del excelentísimo Dr. Lucas Guillermo Castillo Arzobispo Coadjuntor de Caracas y el Dr. Pedro Pablo Tenseiro, Obispo titular de Ortossia, contando con la participación del Dr. Lorenzo Fernández como orador de orden. Hasta el año 1947 funcionó como extensión de Tienda Honda, en ese año se establece como una institución autónoma: el #ColegioLaSalleLaColina; su primer Director y Fundador fue el Hermano Gastón Elie. Located in the East Region of Surabaya, the WM Plenary Halls brief was simple : to create a building that caters for the annual graduation. Rather than simply designing a building that accommodates 2 1.500 students, we began asking ourselves, what other values can we add to make this building a student-centric building, rather than just being a monument used sparingly every year. As the project was procured through a closed competition, we look at ways to create an architecture that is different than the existing typology in the area. In the end, an idea of injecting various informal programs came into the design as a solution. The result is quite straightforward, yet unique. - @bgnrarchitects on Instagram

Architect John S Chase. After serving in WWII, he earned a degree in architecture from Hampton University in Virginia. In 1952, he earned a Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas, becoming the first African American person to do so. He soon became the first registered African American architect in Texas. Unable to find work, he started his own firm, specializing in the design of churches and houses. His early work was inspired mostly by Frank Lloyd Wrights Usonian ideals. He moved to Houston to accept a position at Texas Southern University, the beginning of his involvement with the campus. Through his office in Houston, he designed a number of buildings for the TSU campus, where the largest collection of his work can be found. The BMA Tower, designed by SOM’s Bruce Graham, was completed in 1963 for the Business Men’s Assurance Company. Built on a high point of land in Kansas City, the 19-story office tower was designed with a structural steel frame to withstand local wind conditions. The International style building received an Honor award from @aianational in 1964, and it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. Durante los meses complejos entregamos más de 50 mil canastas, hay 1300 jornales solidarios y adoptamos decenas de medidas Desde el mes de marzo, cuando fue declarada la emergencia sanitaria la Intendencia de Maldonado se adelantó a tomar medidas de protección a nuestra gente y ayuda a los afectados. Sin esa rápida acción las consecuencias sobre nuestra gente habrían sido devastadoras. Estuvimos a tu lado en las difíciles. En ese sentido, previo a decretos que el Gobierno Nacional emitió, el Gobierno de Maldonado dispuso un batería de ayuda solidaria, multiplicando lo que ya se venía realizando desde el comienzo del período de Enrique Antía durante 4 años y medio, y continuado por Jesús Bentancur estos meses, con más del 30% del Presupuesto destinado a inversión social. Maldonado Solidario: Esto se resume en la entrega, por parte de la IDM de 50.836 canastas entre marzo y agosto, 479.534 viandas, un vale de 500 pesos complementario a las canastas desde setiembre y colaboración mensual a más de 21 merenderos. Por otra parte también en los fríos días de invierno el Maldonado Solidario mostró su rostro desde la Administración, atendiendo a las personas en situación de calle. En un trabajo conjunto con la Policía y el Mides se dio solución transitoria a más de 100 personas que estaban en situación de calle y se abrió un nuevo refugio para más de 50 personas. También facilitamos durante varios días las instalaciones del Campus para alojar y alimentar a los más necesitados, coordinando con el Ejército y la Fuerza Aérea camas en otras dependencias y traslados para ello. En lo que tiene que ver con el trabajo, el programa Jornales Solidarios, hijo de la crisis del año 2000 en el primer Gobierno de Enrique Antía, creció año tras año y en su segunda administración fue una solución inmediata con contrapartida para cientos de familia. Este 2020, en plena pandemia, al número previsto de 500 se agregaron más de 800, incluso con cupo para personas con discapacidad, fruto estos últimos de haber enviado a la Junta Departamental una solicitud de crédito COVID 19 para poder paliar la situación de nuestra gente en momentos complejos. #construyendofuturo - @maldonado_uy on Instagram

#DatoCulturalEOH 🤓✈ El diseño del Aeropuerto responde a un lenguaje organicista, con una fuerte tendencia del modernismo brasilero liderado por el arquitecto Oscar Niemeyer y en Colombia por arquitectos como Gabriel Solano, Jorge Gaitán Cortes y el ingeniero calculista Guillermo Gonzáles Zuleta, destacándose en la aplicación del cálculo estructural y la cáscara cóncava de concreto aligerado que lo enmarca en un estilo estructuralista de la arquitectura moderna. Esta edificación pertenece claramente al estilo moderno, por la limpia definición de sus volúmenes a partir de la aplicación de geometrías básicas, la exclusión de elementos ornamentales tradicionales, la expresión estética como resultado a consideraciones técnicas y funcionales, la exhibición directa de material empleado, el gusto por la repetición, la regularidad y la sencillez geométrica. The photo below of Rolex Worldwide Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland was taken in Fall of 1995 before Rolex increased the number of floors and changed the color from gold and brown to green. Under certain lighting conditions, the building could take on an orange look as seen in this photo. A finalized Museum of Brasilia, by Marcel Gautherot / ©@imoreirasalles. While the back façade contains a timeline of the transfer of the capital, the opposite one repeats the same paragraph featured in the golden wall of the Alvorada Palace. According to Juscelino Kubitschek, the repetition was deliberate as he was never entirely sure that someone would not take down the original one. According to Eduardo Soares (@eduares), the building-monument, indissociable from its texts, presents a narrative from the point of view of those who conceived the new capital, interestingly in the oldest known writing form - engraving in stone. Built Heritage is your portal to a selection of collections held in the John Oxley Library that showcase our built heritage and architecture in Queensland. One of these is the Royal Australian Institute of Architects collection, a series of photos commissioned for the Architecture Awards in Queensland. Each photo holds the stories of many Queenslanders, like this one of Kelvin Grove Infants School which opened in 1952. Designed by architect Leslie Sturmer Jacobson, this building was part of the major redevelopment of the school in the 1950s. The Infants School and the other new additions were regarded as leading examples of school architecture in post-war Queensland. Now the exterior of Block SA/SB of Kelvin Grove State College, the two storey building has a hipped roof and a concave, curved entrance bay that linked two long wings to form a V-shaped plan.
