WE DID IT! We’re delighted to let you know that, with your support, our #SohoSummer2020 campaign to persuade Westminster City Council to allow the temporary pedestrianisation of Soho this summer has been successful! As reported today by @esgolondon some details are still being hammered out, but this is a fantastic first step. It means that our rich tapestry of restaurants, bars, cafés and pubs will be allowed to operate ‘al fresco’ from this Saturday 4th July, allowing them to welcome guests safely and recover from the economic effects of lockdown more quickly. We would like to thank every single person who has added their name to our campaign, spread the word on social media, written to Westminster to make their voice heard and shared suggestions, ideas – and concerns. We’re especially grateful to all the passionate local businesses, residents and their representatives who have engaged with the campaign so constructively. While understandably there have been some differences of opinion, we have been overwhelmed by the almost unanimous support for the pedestrianisation in principle – from the outset, discussions have been more about how to make it happen in the best and safest way for everyone, not how to stop it. The success of our campaign is only the first step to saving Soho’s hospitality businesses – now they need YOU! The pedestrianisation will come into effect from this Saturday 4th July, but not all businesses in the area will be open and offering al fresco seating straight away. We want everyone to be able to enjoy Soho safely and responsibly, so please check with individual businesses that they are open and whether you need a reservation before visiting the area. That’s me 👋, standing in front of the cathedral in Cologne Germany, after going on a tour with a group from the cruise I was on with my Grandma. (Oct 2018) We learned about the history throughout wars, the making of cologne and so many other bits and pieces of history. The present incarnation replaced the 55-metre (180 ft) Victoria Tower after the latter burned down in 1916, along with most of the Centre Block; only the Library of Parliament survived. This story 🤧 If you’ve been to Edinburgh already, you will know it 🐶🤎 This is Greyfriars Bobby, the dog of John Gray, and they were inseparable. Unfortunately, John died of tuberculosis. Bobby, the cute little terrier, decided to live by John’s grave regardless of the weather.
