Did you know I am embroidering a science alphabet? I want to know which of the first row is your fave so far! 🆎 I started this awesome project almost two weeks ago! Everyday we all get together on my stories and vote on the letter of the day and make suggestions for the next day! I get over 200 (?!?!) suggestions everyday for each letter! Its honestly the most amazing thing ever seeing us all come together and watch this alphabet form! 🆎 Looking at this project, I see my ultimate goal in starting an embroidery instagram: to be able to teach anyone and everyone about science using art. The fact that we come together as a community to create this alphabet is a humbling experience for me, I am just absolutely elated that everyone is having such a good time with it! 🆎 This picture is pre-rip (RIP alphabet) now I am working on alphabet beta 😂and have turned the letters I could salvage in to patches. @tokolosherecords👈👈 As many of you know, we’ve been an independent band in the true meaning of the word since 2003. Even when we signed to a major label and had a rough few years (see our docuseries @buscalltv), we still wrote, recorded, produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered our music. We shot our own music videos, did a lot of our own photography, ran our own merchandise operation etc etc. Now 17 years later we’re a band that’s free and clear of any contractual obligations..so what better timing than in a pandemic and economic depression 🤔 to start our own label and studio. We’ve put out 5 albums of our own with a 6th on the way soon. We’ve also been working as producers, writers, remixers etc with some really cool artists that‘ll be releasing music shortly. This is in our blood. Our dad started a home studio in London in the early 70’s when everyone said you couldn’t. Partendo da Pelugo, seguendo la strada asfaltata che si snoda in mezzo alla val Borzago, spaccata in due dal corso di Rio Bedù, ci troviamo davanti a Pian della Sega (q. 1260m): l’escursione, o meglio, il calvario, iniziò qui. • Con un fardello di soli 25kg sulle spalle, lo stretto necessario per due giorni in quota, e via, “verso l’infinito ed oltre”, ah no, semplicemente verso il sentiero 213, che in sole 3 ore e 30 dovrebbe condurre anche l’escursionista più maldestro al rifugio Caré Alto (q. 2459m). • Il buio sopraggiunge in fretta; non appena riusciamo a scorgere il rifugio, ci accampiamo per la notte intorno a quota 2100m, circondati da acquitrini e piante di “Carex”, così frequenti nei terreni ai piedi della montagna, da concederle il nome. • Il racconto di @leov1999 non finisce qui... Today is the 75th of the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. The second dropped three days later in Nagasaki. My great grandparents who immigrated to the States had decided to go back to their homeland in Hiroshima. I hear two different stories about my great grandmother needing to go back for health reasons, and another side thinking it would be safer as a Japanese American as tensions rose between the two countries. Regardless, they packed up their bags, left their dry cleaning business, and moved back to Japan. August 6, 1945 - 8:15 AM 120,000 people died in Hiroshima alone. Sachiko (pictured right) did not survive that morning. She was 14 years old. Isamu (pictured left with to his older sister) survived. He is my dearest grandfather who not only lost is oldest sister that morning, but endured incredible hardships as he moved back to the States to start a new life post war. Every year on this day, I reflect on the stories I’ve heard from my family, and I dive a little deeper in educating myself about its history. We’re still living in a world surrounded by weapons of mass destruction and we’ve seen most recently with what happens to innocent lives when hazardous materials stored unsafely goes off. Per usual, this painting got rolled and unrolled in different locations. I worked in indoor spaces and outdoor spaces. It went fast at first. And then painstakingly slow, thereafter. It was taller at one point but I ripped off the bottom and it evolved into a pano format. I wanted to incorporate red, but something in me wouldn’t let me do it. One day, perhaps, I’ll let myself move past this color palette. Paintings are mirrors. You just have to look. . This is one of the iconic photos of the Korean War. The photo caption says: With her brother on her back a war weary Korean girl tiredly trudges by a stalled M-26 tank, at Haengju, Korea. June 9, 1951. (U.S. Navy/Maj. R.V. Spencer, UAF) Often I have looked at this photo wondering what their story is..Are they orphans? Are they alone? Did they survive? I couldnt find the answers to these questions. In June 1951, which is the date of this photo, the front lines battles were occurring in Chorwon area, north of Seoul, near the 38th parallel. Haengju is just north of the Han River near Seoul. So, these kids though impoverished, were safe and far from the front lines. This photo reminds me of the quote etched in our Nations Korean War Veterans Memorial. Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.🇺🇸️ Kids like these and the Korean people must have looked as foreign to American troops as they did to the Koreans. Yet, these heroes answered the call to defend the freedoms of a country and a people they never met. Through their courage and sacrifices, South Korea was saved from the grips of a tyrannical North Korean communist regime and it now flourishes as one of the strongest free nations in the world. Over 1.9 million served in the Korean War and over 36,000 Americans were killed and over 8,100 became Missing in Action. My family was among those saved by these American heroes, and I was thus born to a free nation of South Korea after the war. The fact that I and millions of Koreans live in freedom is the legacy of all who fought to save South Korea from communist tyranny. I am forever grateful for my cherished freedoms, they died to give to me and to all Koreans. And though they may not have met us, we will always remember them and what they did for us. I will do all I can to make known these heroes and their stories. With unending gratitude, love, and respect to all who fought to defend the freedoms of the Korean people. Hi ACN! My name is Larry, Im a jazz/rnb instrumentalist and songwriter from the S.F. Bay Area. When I was a kid the Pokemon soundtrack was my jam and my dream was to become a video game composer. I had no idea what I was doing, but I still remember the wonder of scribbling some notes on a page and having my friends come over to my house to record soundtracks for our amateur homemade movies. Though my musical influences and goals have changed over the years and Ive learned a few more things, I still try and be that kid when Im making music (Although it does get harder with the years :PP) After graduating, Ive been trying to find various ways to keep music in my life.
