The artist had previously created similar portraits of service members from Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield in southeastern Georgia. Su hijo, Francisco, también cantautor y músico, lo despidió con un emotivo mensaje en las redes sociales. Néstor Cuestas, falleció ayer miércoles, a los 76 años, producto de complicaciones en su salud. Fue autor, compositor, músico, arreglador musical, escritor, cantor, investigador, tuvo su tiempo como locutor y conductor de radio y televisión, como también, fue director de Radio Nacional. August 26th 2012 I get tasked to have my platoon go into a village that hadn’t seen NATO forces for a very long time. The intel that I gathered led me to discover that the village was being used as an enemy stronghold and they roamed freely during the day. I’m not going to get into the politics of war in this post, but I’ll just say that my recommendation was disregarded... Fast forward we’re on the ground and things immediately kick off on a bad note; aerial surveillance identified a spotter in the village...We continue to push forward and reach our dismount point. Switching to travel on foot, we push into the village where I encounter the next unusual occurrence, a group of children who would not come to me when I offered them some of the snacks that I always carried on patrol. Instead, the group of children waived for me to come to them, I ignore their gestures. We continue moving forward and then, as if things couldn’t get worse, we get a call that our surveillance is going down due to bad weather. A very eery feeling comes over everyone as we knew this significantly increased the chance of us being ambushed. I reach the entrance of the village with the lead element and we come across a Y-Junction where an odd situation begins to rapidly unfold. At the left fork we noticed a large group of people being ushered away from us and at the right fork was a small gathering of people waving for me to come over to them. I direct a group of my men to set up a machine gun team to cover down the right fork while I take a team to investigate the fleeing mass of people. I took off with my team fully expecting to get into a firefight...I was wrong, instead an enemy Soldier was hiding behind a wall amongst the people at the right fork; amongst the same people who had just waved me over to them several minutes before. This enemy Soldier popped out from behind the wall and let off a long spray of bullets from his AK-47. After 45minutes cleaning a quartile, which turned up 2 sharps, 63 bits of plastic, 3 plastic straws and over 15 plastic lollipop sticks, our group spent an hour cleaning the rest of the foreshore. 47 of 70 plastic bottles were water identifiable as water bottles! A mí izquierda había un paredón de piedra como de 20/25 metros, (y bastante largo) en el que rebotaban los sonidos de una forma espeluznante: el ruido del fuego, los árboles romperse y el llanto de los animales, de todos por igual. La escena era dantesca, como si me hubiese transportado a una pesadilla en el infierno. El calor también era extremo. Nunca sentí algo así. Lamentablemente, debido a la extrema falta de lluvias y la negligencia de unos pocos, la provincia de San Luis está sufriendo de grandes incendios en varias de sus localidades. Los más críticos aun no pueden ser controlados debido a la topografía del lugar y las ráfagas de viento (ayer superaron los 90kms/h). Esta foto la saqué anoche a las 3 de la mañana en el camino de ascenso al Cerro de La Cruz, ubicado en la localidad de Juana Koslay a unos 7 kms aprox de la Capital, donde hay muchas viviendas. Humanitys impact on the natural world over the last five decades has been nothing short of cataclysmic: since 1970 close to 70 percent of wild animals, birds and fish have vanished, according to a WWF assessment this month. Amidst all the things occurring currently this is amongst the most pressing and heartbreaking to me. If capitalism continues we shall all perish . There is no way out of this runaway train of destruction without reinstating an approach that includes Indigenous led solutions as central. Within this framework there can be a role for all. But a role out of the current destructiveness. A role that is always considerate of future generations and also previous ones that shall guide our way as they have done and continue to as First Nations peoples. As our mother crys so do we. These men are the Raider 7, which includes my brother-in-law at the top center. They were all killed on March 10, 2015, and they are a big reason we started this foundation, because their patriotism, love for America, and their dedication to service was unquestionable. They left behind many families and loved ones, more than you likely imagine. We recently received a scholarship application in care of a daughter of one of the men shown here. She is now six years old and her family is asking for help to pay for her first grade year in a private school, because like so many others the Covid19 impact has shuttered all public schools across the country.
