I spent the last 42 days in Naknek, Alaska commercial fishing for salmon, and what an incredible experience that was! I learned a ton of useful skills and had a lot of time to reflect on life during our 36 days spent on the LITTLE J with captain @ivantheeterrible and fellow deck hockey homie @goodmood91 ... One thing that really resonated with me was about the people I surround myself with and how important it is to have likeminded humans around, which fortunately I did. Había estado muchas veces en Lausanne (queda a sólo 40 minutos de donde vivo en #Neuchatel) pero nunca había hecho el paseo en barco. Este lago une las fronteras de #Suiza y #Francia y conecta también con #Ginebra 🙋🏼‍♀️🙌🏼 El viaje no es barato (cómo nada en 🇨🇭🤣) ya que me costo con tarifa reducida (el pase anual que tengo) CHF 18 ida y vuelta. Piensen que si vienen de visita y no tienen ese pase les cuesta el doble. Igualmente, reservando estadía en la ciudad obtienen el pase de transporte gratis y tienen incluido el barco también! 🤪🤩🥳 . ✨Évian, no solo es conocida por la tan famosa marca de aguas, sino también por la Conferencia de Évian en 1938, muy importante en la época de la segunda guerra mundial. . ✨Ya tengo próximo destino! I got my PhD!!!!!! After 8 long years, I successfully defended my PhD thesis on Blue Sharks, to some of the finest shark researchers in the world. Its been a wild ride. I did my BSc Honours and Masters degrees on dolphins believe it or not, @universityofotago under the amazing supervision of Dr Steve Dawson and Dr Liz Slooten. I was later educated by the incredible @oceansresearch on Great Whites thanks to @enrshark and @ryansharkyjohnson I caught the shark bug and my dreams of going to an Ivy league school overseas, were then redirected by @teamsharkwater Rob Stewart through Shark Water the film. It made me look into my own backyard of NZ, where I realised we were the fifth biggest exporter of shark fins in the world. Theres no scholarships or funding for this type of work in NZ but my parents always said that if you want to be successful, find what your passion is, then work really really hard and success will follow. I enrolled at the @aucklanduniversity for my PhD focussing on the most exploited shark in the world, the Blue shark, and with guidance of Dr John Montgomery, Dr Craig Radford,Clinton Duffy and Dr Malcom Francis, I had a research method that would be the biggest hurdle shark researchers tackle, funding for satellite tags. My amazing supervisor Dr Montgomery said to me, can you do this without financial support? With passion as the only wind in my sail I said yes. Incredible feats followed, amazing relationships, unbelievable conservation victories, but only because of the people that helped me. The NZ public funded shark tags named after their kids, their mum or their business. Groups like @sealifekellytarltons NZ Sports fishing council, Leigh Marine Lab further funded tags. And an amazing family called the Kleins, personally supported me with boats and access to the world I required. @mikebhana gave me my first tagging trip and launched my shark media career. My wonderful @amberandfriendsphotography was there all the way, and so were my friends and family. A shark fin ban in 2014 means that 100,000 blue sharks remain alive every year in NZ. Одну награду он выиграл в каноэ-одиночке, вторую в микс-каноэ с Ириной Андреевой. «Подготовка к этому Кубку мира у нашей группы проходила в Москве. Сейчас это не лучшее место для подготовки к соревнованиям из-за погоды, но я считаю, что благодаря этому у нас было небольшое преимущество, так как мы тренировались на холодной воде, а в Сегеде она теплая, поэтому мы имели преимущество. Для нашего вида спорта это важный фактор. Особенность этих соревнований - нововведение в программу дисциплин: микс-каноэ и микс-байдарка, которые впоследствии введутся в олимпийскую программу, так как сейчас наша международная федерация рассматривает изменения в олимпийской программе и по дистанциям, и по дисциплинам. Дальнейшие планы связаны с восстановлением, так как этот сезон получился самым продолжительным, и в моей карьере я такого не помню, чтобы мы начинали работать в октябре и заканчивали сезон в конце сентября. То есть практически нон-стоп был. У нас были перерывы в середине сезона, но из-за того, что приходилось форсировать нашу подготовку после небольшого перерыва в сезоне, это сказалось на нашем состоянии и состоянии других спортсменов, мы это наблюдаем. Meet Jimmi Donuts. This little yellow boat has hosted multiple family sleepovers, made it up to Pittwater and back, shown us dolphins and seals in the Harbour (and tried valiantly to find whales) and been the most amazing platform for adventure. Bought off eBay a couple of years ago, shes also led to much excitement, mostly caused by our own crapness. (By our own, I really mean Guys. Although I may have contributed on occasion.) Highlights include losing an engine to the bottom of the harbour, and on another occasion having to be towed back home by the water police after the quick option of taking the boat to lunch in Rose Bay didnt exactly work out. Weve also lost our tender while we slept, although it washed up on the rocks in exactly the right position so Guy could swim ashore, run and get it and be back onboard before the rest of us had wriggled out of pyjamas. This weekends adventures? After a sail, Jimmi was anchored too shallow and couldnt be moved until high tide: at 8 pm on the coldest night of the year. So off Guy went in the dark for a little swim. It’s been a busy bank holiday weekend for the volunteer crew at Port Isaac RNLI with three shouts. The first was at 16:15 on Friday 28th August to reports of individuals in difficulty near rocks at Port Gaverne. Port Isaac inshore Lifeboat (ILB) was quickly on scene and established that the individuals were safe and well with the call to the coastguard being made with good intent. At 14:06 on Sunday 30th August the ILB Pride of Port Isaac (Goeth Porthusek) were called to launch to Tintagel to reports of eight persons cut off by the tide. Boscastle Coastguard and CG rescue 924 were also in attendance. Whilst travelling to the scene Falmouth Coast Guard reported to the lifeboat that all the casualties had managed to wade back to shore, were safe and well and we could stand down and return to Station. The crew were barely back at the station when the pagers again went off at 14:55 with Falmouth Coastguard requesting that our volunteer crew proceed to Trebarwith Strand to reports of two surfers in trouble. Port Isaac ILB arrived on scene and were redirected to a couple on the beach. They confirmed that they were the subject of the emergency but were now safe and well and didn’t need any help. Port Isaac lifeboat return to Station. If you are concerned about anyone in or around the water please dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. В детстве и юности Валерий занимался греблей на каноэ. Но после поступления в институт, времени не хватало, и занятия каноэ пришлось оставить. Как часто бывает, в любимый спорт нас возвращают дети. Так случилось и у Валерия - он привел в каноэ своего подросшего младшего сына и потихоньку втянулся сам. Позже Валерия пригласили в команду по гребле на лодках Дракон. И сейчас он активно тренируется на Драконах, а также плотно занимается греблей на каноэ. Валерий старается участвовать во всех международных соревнованиях Европы и Азии. Он семикратный чемпион мира. ⠀ Напарнику Валерия - Сергею Викторовичу Точенову 64 года. Ветеран спорта, мастер спорта по каноэ. К гребле на каноэ привлёк всю семью и гоняется в двойке со своей внучкой. 💚 Salcombe South Sands 💚 The sea around Salcombe was ideal for SUP today. We parked next to @TheWinkingPrawn at North Sands and paddled around to South Sands. This tends to be the quieter of the two beaches because there’s only a small private car park opposite the hotel. However you can walk from North Sands or visit it by the South Sands ferry that runs between here and Salcombe town every half an hour between 10am and 6pm. This costs £4.50 for adults and £3.50 for children each way. It looks like a fun ride as you board the ferry from a sea tractor that transports passengers into the water. We must go back and try it! The ferry and tractor runs until the end of October. It’s currently taking up to 12 people at a time. Masks are essential. Also right on the beach is @SouthSandsHotel_ - a small boutique hotel that’s also super family-friendly. We pulled our boards up on the beach grabbed a coffee and piece of salted caramel brownie (yum) from @BosBeachCafe. You can’t miss it - it’s an old life boat station that looks a little like a chapel. МОСКОВСКАЯ АКВАТОРИЯ 2020 Разве можно было такое пропустить?! Погоняться на SUPах в самом центре Москвы! Проведение этого мероприятия вызвало огромный ажиотаж среди сап-серферов. Пробиться в любительскую гонку было очень сложно, но с @gosup.moscow не бывает нерешаемых задач. И вот старт. Кипящая Вода под ногами, пробки на поворотах, надо удержаться и не свалиться, и сразу ускориться, и нужный радиус выбрать в этой толпе. 4.5 км пролетели на одном дыхании. В это же время наши профи бились на технической зрелищной гонке. Ну а потом парад. Очень креативно народ подошёл к изготовлению костюмов. Каких только не было!!!
