-Digital treatment planning a full mouth reconstruction- Preliminary records to set each case up are very important to the success of each smile makeover. We encourage our clients to follow up with the patient 1-2 week after the prep appointment to make any final adjustments to the temporaries. Oftentimes our clients will send the prep scans before this appointment to confirm that these impressions are accurate and to identify any areas that may be under reduced, questionable margins or undercuts. This feedback is given to the dentist before the patient comes back for the final temporary scan and photos. Here’s the photos taken of the temporaries 2 weeks after the prep appointment. A digital scan was taken of the upper and lower temps with both the left and right side digital bites. Finished the Hashihime mask. In comparison to the other ones I was able to control the brush a little better while painting her hair, I made a few mistakes on the skin texture but I like how she turned out overall. Progress on the clothes an neck. Getting there. I will work my way up to the face and get this all done in the next days. The important thing to remember when going for this type of work is that each element is equally important and unique. Each facial feature, a nose, an eyelid, lips, just about everything becomes an entire “creature” of its own, with primary, secondary and tertiary forms, if you absolutely need to use those terms. But in a way, this separation should not exist, because at the end of the day, a face is a fractal and every time you get a little closer, secondary forms become primary when seen in isolation, then the tertiary become primary and so on, to infinity. All forms are equally important and inter-dependent. The separation between those forms only exist if you are not looking close enough. Think about “form hierarchy”, instead of primary, secondary and tertiary. It’s a better and more precise term, in my opinion. Everything hand carved in ZBrush and rendered in Maya/Arnold. It is three year, flexible residency program with lots of opportunities for teaching and creating socially engaged work. Recently included in Artsy’s list of The Top 15 Art Programs in the country, the Art and Social Practice MFA is a three-year, flexible residency program combining individual artistic practice, group work, community partnerships, and experiential learning. The programs blend of critical and professional practice, progressive pedagogy, collaborative social engagement, and transdisciplinary exploration produces an immersive educational environment. As an extension of the program’s unique pedagogy, graduate students have the opportunity to collaborate directly in ongoing projects and partnerships across the city: Columbia River Creative Initiatives. CRCI is an artist-led creative platform with programs and classes held at the Columbia River Correctional Institution, a minimum-security prison in Northeast Portland, Oregon. Programming includes an Artist Residency for currently incarcerated artists, focusing on a range of topics related primarily to collaboration, conceptual art, and socially engaged art, The Inside Show, a variety show produced inside the prison, as well as graduate student-initiated special projects. I was watching the 1972 “ Tales From The Crypt “ the other night and decided to do a little Zbrushin’... I have loved the image of Peter Cushing as Aurthur Grimsdyke ever since I first saw it in “the Movie Treasury of Horror Movies” when I was a wee lad! I was determined to do the makeup version with the black scrims over the eyes just as Roy Ashton did it for the film. There were “crunchier” pics of it but I chose the idealized version that made my 8 year old mind explode! ( I was like 5 when it came out!) One of the sweetest collaborations to hit the shelves last year, between Artists Ron English and D*Face, merging D*Face’s iconic D*Dog character with English’s iconic Grin. We were lucky enough to have a friend on site at last years DesignerCon who managed to put a plan in action to get one back to us here in Aus, and even went the extra mile to get the artists to sign it. Big love! The ‘D*dog Grin’ stands approximately 15 inches tall, and is comprised of 3 parts - A base, stem and the grin itself. This was a DesignerCon exclusive release, and was limited to 250pcs. I don’t think we’ve seen a collaboration between two artists at this caliber in quite so time, so it was super exciting to see these two work together to create a figure in vinyl form. The figure came nicely packaged in a custom box, with all the protective accessories expected with such a release. Super happy to have this one in the collection! After a few years of it hanging out in its box... I have finally hung up my MARS ATTACKS vacuum formed mask in my living room! I love under-lighting my giant Ghoulsville masks made by @retroagogogear with colored LED light bulbs.
