Forest name: Battery Creek Location: South Gippsland, Victoria Between 1999 and 2009 we planted more than 90,000 native trees at Battery Creek to establish a biodiverse forest. It has now become a haven for native birds and wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies and wombats. In 2013 an insect was also discovered living in the trees at Battery Creek. Officially named a Bog Gum Psyllid (Ctenarytaina bipartite) these tiny cicada like insects are found only in this forest and feed on the juvenile leaves of Bog Gum (Eucalyptus kitsoniana). many people still don’t understand why indigenous communities in America and Canada have struggled over time with the colonization of the continent. This photo represents only one modern era act against them. The slaughter of millions of Bison across the plains of America. Whether it was official policy or not, it took place to pressure native people onto reservations (please read), and subsequently the Residential School System (please read). These two acts against the indigenous people of North America were designed and carried out with the specific intention of unraveling the cultural tapestry of indigenous peoples generationally. An attempt to seperate the people from the land and anything else they know, with the hope that when they have their own children, they would know nothing of their ancestry. In just one generation, the height of indigenous American people who depended on bison dropped by an inch or more, as measured by physical anthropologist Franz Boas, who collected data on the height, gender and age of over 15,000 Native Americans between 1889 and 1919. When you’ve researched this topic, research “residential schools” because you should know how the system was put in place, and we’re seeing the same system at work with the Mi’kmaq fishery in Nova Scotia right now. - @andyhines.tv on Instagram

ABOUT LOSING FOR SHARING (Ampparito [2020] [TS-Screener][Esp]”) I have been quite a long time looking for a piece that can’t be photographed either shared on social media or at least if you do so it will be something radically different. Due to this it is hard to show it through this mean, kind of a contradiction but I will try. The first video is recorded from the screen to avoid the compression ruining the effect, second picture is a normal photo updated (compressed), third one is a preview on a grid. This work is a preview of my upcoming show “Ampparito [2020] [TS-Screener][Esp]” in @lacausagaleria the first week of november. The main conceptual line is TS-screener quality, those films downloaded by P2P or torrent, filmed in the cinema with super low video/sound quality, a film of a film. In this weird times I find meaningful to create a show that will be different if you see it analogical or in a digital way to do so I will address among other topics 3D vs 2D, pictures of pictures of pictures, the fact of losing information in order to share, why is so fascinating to pick the Eiffel tower with your fingers or if a tall bulky hair guy is in front of you in the cinema is reasonable to affirm that you will see 70% of the film. This piece I am showing here is made to disorient cameras, is base on dazzle camouflage and moiré effect, used in ships in the IWW (pict 6) and in car prototypes (pict 7) nowadays. This house become special when you see it trough a phone or a screen from a picture or video without compression, that is why the piece disappear when you share it with someone by social media. That lost of information that makes possible to be sent also eliminate the magic of the piece (you can find the raw files on my BIO). You are able to see the effect when scroll or see it in a grid mode on your phone, something increasingly necessary due to the huge amount of information with have to deal with everyday. Vi muchas veces en mis viajes la venta de animales al costado de la ruta (Tortugas, aves, serpientes, etc) Muchos otros los vi atropellados, vi ambientes incendiarse por completo, cazadores y asi podría seguir en una lista eterna de la que creo que TODOS somos responsables. Tengo un fanatismo de recorrer lugares con el Google Earth, ahi no hay opiniones, es una imagen a la que todos podemos acceder y que muestra clarito que cicatrices la hacemos al planeta. Ahora me pregunto mirando estas imágenes ¿quién fue el técnico que pensó y que legisladores aprobaron este mamarracho de talar todo y dejar algunas tiras de 20mts de monte, en serio pensaron que serviría para algo a nivel ecosistémico o de conservación? Cómo podemos ser tan malditos con nuestra propia casa que la estamos destruyendo de esta forma. Welcome to Elanda Point 🌳 Located in Queensland, 2 hours north of Brisbane, this area was revegetated with more than 100,000 native trees between 2003 and 2007. With the aim of taking climate action and restoring biodiversity, a variety of native tree species were planted as a part of this project. These included Queensland Brush box (Lophostemon confertus), Broad-leaved Paperbark (Melaleuca quinquinervia) and Turpentine Tree (Syncarpia glomulifera). As this forest grows it is capturing carbon from the atmosphere and providing habitat for the local wildlife. Many birds now call the forest home including the Noisy Friarbird and Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo. Over its lifetime, this forest will capture more than 46,000 tonnes of CO2-e from the atmosphere. FAST FASHION AND ITS DEVASTATING IMPACTS There’s no doubt that fast fashion contributes to negative impacts on the environment, including climate change, animal suffering and water pollution. It’s the 2nd largest polluting industry in the world. 20,000 litres of water is used for just 1kg of cotton and it takes 2,700 litres of water to make one cotton shirt, which is enough water for one person to drink in 2 1/2 years. All our jeans, jumpers, jackets etc. are made out of cotton; do we really need them as much as someone needs the drinking water? No. It’s a ridiculous amount of water being wasted on fast fashion, when people are struggling to get just enough water for each day to cook, clean and drink. The Aral Sea lying between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was once huge with 1000s of fish and the people there could fish for their meals; now there’s camel. The cotton farming has meant that the sea has shrunk so that it’s gone from being around half the size of England, to nearly 64,000 square kilometres of this water disappearing. This is shocking and ALL down to the cotton farm using the water from the river that was feeding the sea, in order to produce tonnes of cotton for our clothes. People have lost their lifestyle, their jobs of selling fish, and their beautiful waters. The dusty banks that are now where the sea once was are dangerous in strong winds as they get into people’s eyes causing harm. As well as the environment being badly affected, humans are also treated badly in the labour of making the clothes. Child labour is often the case for fast fashion, where they are treated awfully and paid very little. The stats are staggering for how fast fashion negatively affects our world; it’s more than we could ever imagine! So, next time you buy fast fashion clothes in a shopping spree please please reconsider what it means for the environment! Remember you have a full wardrobe already, or buy sustainable clothing, or secondhand clothes.
