Sebuah truk terbakar di KM 752/A jalan Tol Waru-Sidoarjo, Rabu (30/9/2020) sore. Truk bernopol AG 8224 UO yang terbakar itu awalnya dalam perjalanan dari Gunungsari Surabaya menuju pabrik gula Malang. Truk bermuatan karet bekas, kata Kanit Laka Satlantas Polresta Sidoarjo, AKP Sugeng Sulistyono. AKP Sugeng Sulistyono mengatakan, tidak ada korban jiwa dalam peristiwa ini. Namun, truk sampai terbakar habis meski petugas pemadam kebakaran sudah dikerahkan ke lokasi kejadian. Dugaan sementara, kebakaran terjadi akibat konsleting listrik di truk tersebut, ungkap dia. Namun, petugas masih melakukan penyelidikan, lanjutnya. Ia mengatakan, truk dikemudikan Eri Arianto, warga Kademangan, Blitar. Awalnya melaju seperti biasa. Dari Gunungsari, truk melaju di jalur tengah arah Malang. Saat di lokasi, tiba-tiba sopir truk melihat dari spion sebelah kanan muncul api di bak sebelah kanan truk bermuatan karet bekas tersebut. Melihat itu, pengemudi langsung meminggirkan truknya di bahu jalan tol. Dia turun dan api cepat sekali membesar. Sampai menghabiskan semua bodi truk. Petugas kepolisian bersama pihak jalan tol datang ke lokasi. Termasuk pemadam kebakaran juga didatangkan untuk memadamkan truk yang terbakar itu. Namun saat api padam, truk dan semua bodinya sudah habis. Saat kejadian, arus lalu lintas di jalan tol arah Surabaya menuju Sidoarjo, Porong, Malang ditutup total. Let’s talk about “Trash Island,” or the Pacific Garbage Patch • The Great Pacific garbage patch, also described as the Pacific trash vortex, is a gyre of marine debris particles in the central North Pacific Ocean. It is located roughly from 135°W to 155°W and 35°N to 42°N. The collection of plastic and floating trash originates from the Pacific Rim, including countries in Asia, North America, and South America. • An ocean current about 6,000 miles long, referred to as the Subtropical Convergence Zone, connects the two patches, which extend over an indeterminate area of the widely varying range, depending on the degree of plastic concentration used to define the affected area. • It is estimated that 1.15 to 2.41 million tons of plastic are entering the ocean each year from rivers. More than half of this plastic is less dense than the water, meaning that it will not sink once it encounters the sea. • Despite the common public perception of the patch existing as giant islands of floating garbage, its low density (4 particles per cubic meter) prevents detection by satellite imagery, or even by casual boaters or divers in the area. This is because the patch is a widely dispersed area consisting primarily of suspended fingernail-sized or smaller bits of plastic, often microscopic, particles in the upper water column known as microplastics. • Research indicates that the patch is rapidly accumulating. A similar patch of floating plastic debris is found in the Atlantic Ocean, called the North Atlantic garbage patch. • Do your part to recycle today to stop the growth of the garbage patch! 28મુ અઠવાડિયું શિયળાની ઋતુ પુર્ણ થઈ રહી છે અને વસંત ઋતુ આપના આંગણે આવી છે. આ ઋતુમાં ઝાડ અને વનસ્પતિ પર નવા પાંદળા અને ફૂલ ખીલી રહ્યા છે. એક સુંદર અને સ્વચ્છ ફૂલ રૂપી સંકલ્પ આપણે આપના મનમાં પણ વસાવીએ કે આપણે આપની આસપાસ સ્વચ્છ અને સ્વસ્થ વાતાવરણનું નિર્માળ કરીએ. અને હાં, આ ફૂલ આપતું છોડ મુરજાઈ ના જાય એ માટે સમય-સમય પર પાણી આપવાનું ભૂલસો નહીં. પહેલું સુખ તે જાતે નર્યા આ ગાંધીજીનું વાક્ય એટ્લે યાદ આવ્યું કેમકે આજે અમે લગભગ બધી કચરાપેટી સંપૂર્ણપણે ભરાઈ ગયેલ છે તે જોયું. તો કચરો હવે તેની બહાર આવી રહ્યો છે. તો તે પણ સાફ કરવા થોડું કર્યા કર્યું. કચરાપેટીને સમયસર સાફ કરવા અમે યોગ્ય તંત્રને નમ્ર વિનંતી કરીએ છીએ.એક મોટી વાત પર ધ્યાન આપવા જેવુ છે કે અમે, વન વિભાગ, માંડવી અને ગીર ફાઉંડેશન ના આર્થિક સહયોગથી રાખેલ 8 કચરા પેટી કદાચ પૂરી નથી પડતી.ફરવા આવતા પર્યટકો સાથે વાત કરી એક જ વાત સામે આવે છે કે વધુ થી વધુ કચરા પેટી ની જરૂર જણાઈ. માંડવીના બીચ નો વિકાશ થયો છે ત્યારે અહી ઓછામાં ઓછી 25 જેટલી કચરા પેટી ની જરૂર છે. જેમાં અમને તમારા સહયોગની જરૂર છે. પ્રકૃતિમાથી પ્રદૂષણ ઓછું થાય તેમજ બીચ પરથી પ્લાસ્ટિક સાફ કરીને દરિયાઈ જીવસૃષ્ટિ ને લાભ થાય તે માટે નો અમારો આ પ્રયાસ છે. અમે આ કાર્ય વિના મૂલ્યે અને પોતાની ઇચ્છાથી કરીએ છીએ.આપણે શા માટે પ્રકૃતિ ને સાફ રાખવી જોઈએ તથા દરિયાઇ જીવશ્રુષ્ટિ ના મહત્વ જેવા વિષયો પર અમે શૈક્ષણિક સત્રો(educational sessions) પણ રાખીએ છીએ. એક નોંધનીય બાબત એ છે કે બીચ પરથી પ્લાસ્ટિક સાફ કર્યા પછી અમે તે બધું પાલિકા દ્વારા પૂરા પાડવામાં આવેલ ડસ્ટબિનમાં ફેંકી દીધું હતું. આ સફાઈ જુંબેશ ના માધ્યમ થી અમે પર્યટકો ને વિનંતી કરીએ છીએ કે તમને નજીકમાં ડસ્ટબિન ન મળે તો તમે પ્લાસ્ટિકનો કચરો તમારી સાથે બેગમાં મુકો અને જ્યારે તમને ડસ્ટબિન મળે ત્યારે ફેંકી દો. જ્યાં સુધી આપણે આપણી આસપાસના પર્યાવરણનું સાનમાં નહીં કરીએ અને તેની સાર-સંભાળ નહીં રાખીએ આસપાસનાનું સન્માન નહી રાખો અને તેને સાફ નહી રાખો ત્યાં સુધી આપણું રાષ્ટ્ર સમૃદ્ધ નહીં થાય. અમારી પોસ્ટ્સ શેર કરીને અને તમારા સ્થાનો પર આ પ્રકારની ઝુંબેશ ચલાવીને પોતાનું યોગદાન આપી શકે છે .. !! સ્વયંસેવકો અને સભ્યોનો આભાર Kunal Kapta Vinod Maheswari Dharmik Bhatt Milan Mehta Hiren Gadhavi Arjan Gadhavi Yashesh Shah Mihir Shah #NoPlasticWaste #noplastic #cleanupchallenge #cleanindia #ourkutch #naturelover #environment #cleanbeach #beachcleaning #beach #mandvi #beachcleanup #securenature #swachbharat #savetheearth #saveocean - @securenature on Instagram

A new enzyme ‘cocktail’ could help tackle plastic waste and recycling issues.⁠ ⁠ A team of scientists at the University of Portsmouth in England have developed a new “super enzyme” that can break down plastics up to six times faster than standard enzymes, according to a new research paper published Monday in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. ⁠ This combination of enzymes can speed up the decomposition process for the most common thermoplastic, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is used in single-use bottles, carpets, and clothing. Un nuevo estudio reportó que desde marzo –mes en el que se decretó la emergencia sanitaria por COVID-19– hasta el presente, unos 300.000 barbijos descartables ya se han acumulado en cuerpos de agua en Uruguay. Y se puede pensar que unos 22 millones podrían terminar en el mar al cabo de un año. El diario @elpaisuy releva que en este estudio, en las últimas ocho semanas se han estado detectando entre dos y tres mascarillas por kilómetro de playa en Canelones y Maldonado. Esto se traduce en el arribo de entre 670 y 1.600 unidades a los cauces de agua, orillas de lagunas y lagos próximos a centros poblados y en los 670 kilómetros de costa del Río de la Plata y océano Atlántico al día. Teniendo en cuenta que el peso de cada mascarilla es de aproximadamente cuatro gramos, lo anterior equivaldría a 880 toneladas adicionales a las 5.600 toneladas de residuos plásticos que llegan anualmente al ecosistema costero-marino del país. Para 2021, esto se podría traducir en la producción de más de 6.500 toneladas de basura marina, el 0,10% de la basura marina que arroja el mundo a los océanos todos los años, según declararon fuentes del estudio a El País. Esto puede generar que la “nueva basura marina” termine enredando a pingüinos, tortugas o delfines franciscana, algunas de las especies más vulnerables a esta problemática. Además, las mascarillas en el océano agravan la presencia de microplásticos. Hace unos días se halló un pingüino de Magallanes muerto en Brasil por haber ingerido una mascarila N95. Scientists have created a new super enzyme that can break down plastic up to six times faster than their previous enzyme. A team of researchers that previously re-engineered a plastic-eating enzyme named PETase have now combined it with a second enzyme to speed up the process, according to the University of Portsmouth. Avec @ome_marseille nous avons réussi le pari de sortir les 1.800 bouteilles en plastiques et les milliers de mégots coincés depuis des dizaines dannées entre les rochers. 😱 Cétait réellement une sortie éreintante car ramasser entre les rochers ce nest pas une mince affaire 😄 on y a laissé nos bras... mais ça en valait la peine ! Prepared for Swimming Victoria Inc Abstract Swimming Pools and their operations are often a misunderstood environment. Through lack of knowledge, incorrect assumptions, decisions are being made that severely and negatively impact a highly regulated industry. To guide and promote evidence-based decisions, this review investigated three main areas: 1) COVID-19 persistence/survival/removal in water; 2) Humidity as a factor in reducing COVID-19 transmission and 3) The structured/unstructured environmental landscape. This review suggests that swimming pools are one of the safest and should be the first to reopen post lockdown as: i) COVID-19 has low stability water, with little or no chance to cause infection in pool water as it is incredibly susceptible to Chlorine, Ozone and UVC,; ii)The maintenance of controlled humidity and temperature play a role in the inactivation of COVID-19; iii) The indoor structured programs provide a safe sporting environment. After 45minutes cleaning a quartile, which turned up 2 sharps, 63 bits of plastic, 3 plastic straws and over 15 plastic lollipop sticks, our group spent an hour cleaning the rest of the foreshore. 47 of 70 plastic bottles were water identifiable as water bottles! #WorldTourismDay ♻️🌳 While tourism makes a comeback in many places, its important not to forget that were all still responsible for keeping our environment clean as we travel around to see beautiful places. Yesterday on World Tourism Day, our team at #Sahastradhara near #Dehradun helped the District Tourism Development Office (DTDO) organize a cleanup of the waterfall areas. We were joined by 7 young volunteers and 2 DTDO office staff who were quite excited to get into the water and clean up waste littered into the stream. So if youre seeing this and are planning your next trip, please please keep in mind that you should always find and use dustbins around you. If you cant find a bin, just hold on to your waste, it wont bite :D Put it in a bag, take it back with you where you will eventually find a bin. Our team sorting through marine debris items collected from Pedro Gonzales last summer. Debris items are sorted into various categories to be inventoried for NOAA’s Accumulation Shoreline Survey.
