First session was multitasking at @notablestudios, playing bass and running Pro Tools while my dear friend and mentor Dan Cantor was on drums and @nicoemden was on guitars. I’ve got some very exciting news! Introducing - Spatial - my new studio furniture company, soft-launching now with two production desks. While I have been very fortunate this year to stay busy producing and mixing records, I’ve found myself away from my studio (@pentavarit ) and unexpectedly working from home for most of 2020. This is a transition that everybody in the music business has felt in one way or another this year. Whether you are a producer, mixer, songwriter, musician, or singer, we are all working from home a LOT more these days. In this new world, I quickly found myself in need of a production desk for my new home studio. I knew that I didn’t want a “mastering desk” like a lot of companies are making. They don’t fit my needs, and they cost way too much. As I searched, I found that most production desk offerings were made of low-quality materials, and the ones made of real wood were difficult to assemble and have poor quality control. In order to get the desk I truly wanted, I decided that I would have to make it myself. I recruited my talented friend @szerne to join me in designing and building the desk that best fit my needs. Once it was done, I loved it so much that I started having even more ideas… Stephen and I realized that my needs were very likely the same needs of many others. We could team up and meet those needs. Combine our skill sets and it was a perfect fit. Now we have sketches for more products that we will be rolling out in the future. We are soft launching Spatial with two primary production desk designs. A 3-bay / 88 key tray, and a 2-bay / 61 key tray. These desks are entirely made of super high-quality 1” stain grade Baltic birch, precision cut on a CNC machine here in Nashville, and are flat pack shippable with some simple user assembly. Here are some photos of both size desks, which are available in either light or dark finishes. I’m overjoyed with how they came out, and I’m proud to offer what we believe is the best production desk under $1000 on the market. I lead a somewhat double life. Only the people who know me know that aside from music, I spend the other half of my life as an English teacher here in San Antonio. I applied to be part of the corps for @teachforamerica ,and I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to be accepted. Normally each day is spent with me lesson planning, grading, writing music, and hopefully having some time to eat and sleep, but this last week has been different. • • With schools shut down, we’re moving into online learning this Monday, and I find myself missing my students and teaching them everyday. However, this just means us teachers need to find a way to engage with our students in more creative ways! I’m so grateful for the opportunity that I’ve been given to be a teacher, and as I move into this next season of life, I’m going to try to hold onto that. • • If there are any other teachers out there, I’d love to hear any thoughts or suggestions on what you all think of online learning.
