Our Child Development Services (CDS) in San Bernardino County staff members continue to engage children (via virtual sessions) and involve kids’ families as well as provide much-needed support and resources. A perfect example is the weekly Grab-n-Go events which provide resources, such as food and school supplies, for the children. Their families also receive a food supply package that includes a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables. We’re so proud to share that all of our CDS centers have been able to schedule weekly Grab-n-Go’s during the COVID-19 pandemic. - @eastersealssocal on Instagram

MEET THE TEAM - TESS GRACE 📸➡️ Tess is an architectural graduate who studied in Brisbane, and moved back to Townsville after finishing her studies to enjoy the more relaxed lifestyle. Tess is currently studying to sit the Architectural Practice Examination, and if successful, hopes to register as an architect in the coming months. Juggling study and work with a little one can be tricky at times, but she loves sharing stories of her work with her son Ollie, who is particularly fascinated with concrete mixers.  Tess is looking forward to travelling again soon, so that she can tick off a few more of her buildings and cities from her bucket list. Some of her favourites shes managed to visit so far include La Sagrada Familia in Spain, Tokyos Nagakin Capsule Tower and the Colosseum in Rome.  In the meantime she enjoys cooking for her family and friends in her recently renovated home. - @counterpoint_architecture on Instagram

Spoons charity is 4 years old! Spoons started as a community group five whole years at the end of March when we held our very first peer support group! April 2020, we celebrate our fourth birthday as a charity, we usually celebrate this with a party and if you know us you know we love any excuse to eat cake! Officers of the night shift answered a call Thursday night in reference to a dispute between a couple going through hard times and finding it difficult to feed their two toddlers and one infant. Knowing this, those officers came together and purchased food for the family so they wouldn’t go another night hungry and reached out to FISH who provided the family with more food and diapers for their baby. Tears were shed and many moments were made. The family has wished to stay anonymous and pictures of them will not be posted out of respect. Bear Exploration Center held its first Curbside Library Pick Up last week. The librarian, Laurie Houlditch, has taught students how to use the online catalog and how to take Accelerated Reader tests.⠀ ⠀ Students are able to reserve five to 10 books in their reading range using the online catalog to keep at home for a month. Parents drive through the bus lane to pick up the books their students reserved.⠀ ⠀ The next Curbside Library Pick Up will be Sept. 17. Today we received our new refrigerated (and stuffed!) van from our friends @wholefoods, as part of the Nourishing Our Neighborhoods program. Presented at their 50th new store opening in Wayne this morning, this van will allow us to rescue 20,000 lbs. of healthy food per week, diverting it from landfill and redistributing it to our network of agencies that serve our neighbors in need. Clayton County students will have a little extra help with basic school supplies when the new year begins on Aug. 5. 📓📚✏️ Thanks to Solicitor General Tasha Mosley and members of her staff, thousands of supplies like paper, pencils, binders, pens and folders have been delivered to every school in the district. Mosley said the $23,000 worth of supplies were purchased using funds from the office’s Pre-Trial Intervention Program. The campfire survivors in and around Paradise are still suffering from the aftermath of the disaster. Children often carry the additional worry of not being able to afford the supplies they need during the school year. We understand that a child’s education is critical to their lifetime success. Our volunteers at Sewa International in partnership with @campfiretinyhomes hosted a successful School supplies give away drive through an event at Oroville, CA on August 29th. Each child was given a brand-new backpack full of supplies. Children from kindergarten all the way up to 12th grade were able to receive the supplies they need to help them succeed in school. Each family that drove into the event was also blessed with boxes of fresh Produce. We gave out 500 backpacks filled with school supplies, as well as produce boxes, diapers & wipes! We are thankful to so many people in our community including our friends at @hss_us who see and understand the need for children in our community to start off their school year with all the supplies they need. As part of #HungerActionMonth, the Bloustein School’s Graduate Society of Healthcare Leaders put their efforts toward raising donations for @ElijahsPromise Community Kitchen. They gathered food supplies, hygiene products, and clothing items. This past weekend the students met at a local park, donned masks and gloves, and packed more than 100 snack and hygiene bags, as well as bulk items and donations such as rice, pasta, oil, and clothing. They packed three cars full of donations to make the trip over and deliver the items to Chef Curtis and his team at EP. GSHL was also able to make a monetary contribution because of the amazing amount of donations they were able to raise for the #Give5forEP campaign.
