[The Year of Manifestation] • • The Dutchman by Amiri Baraka was not only my first production of 2018 - but it was the first time I ever produced a play in NYC and starred in it. This wouldn’t have been possible without my co-producer and co-star (@mightymegasaur) • • We studied this play in acting school and decided if we weren’t finding relevant and culture pushing work - then we would create it ourselves. With the help of our network we raised money to create this Immersive masterpiece. This came with sacrifice and much of our own money to ensure the show went on. The talent in this production was immeasurable - everyone dedicated time and energy to help create this vision and they’re hella talented! • • I am forever grateful to this moment because it showed me that I could do anything I put my mind to. No matter the obstacles and hurdles we had ahead of us. It also led me into the wonderful creative journey I had this year. Ya boy was booked all year - (was still broke)- but he was booked and that’s all that mattered to me. • • If you’re in a field for the money and not the love - then you’re in the wrong place. But - to each it’s own. Survival is real. Complacency exists. So if you’re reading this - DO IT! Whatever it is that you may be doubting or don’t believe it can happen - DO IT ANYWAYS! You never know who’s watching, willing to help or there to encourage you forward. Take a risk.
