¡Hoy os traemos una mágica leyenda portuguesa!🔮 Cuenta la leyenda que érase una vez un viejo hechicero, que vivía en un castillo sobre las rocas, que quedó prendado de la mujer más hermosa del lugar. Por miedo a perderla, la hizo prisionera del castillo, pero el soldado que la custodiaba, ansioso por saber qué se ocultaba tras las puertas de aquella celda, decidió abrirla y, al ver a la muchacha, también se enamoró perdidamente de ella. En este caso, su amor fue correspondido y decidieron fugarse juntos, pero cuando escapaban del castillo a caballo, el hechicero los vio y, mediante un conjuro, consiguió que las rocas bajo sus pies se abrieran engullendo a la pareja con un tremendo estruendo. Se cuenta que, desde este momento, el lugar fue bautizado como la Boca del Infierno, ya que se había tragado a los enamorados de la leyenda. I only abandoned my holiday buddy once (okay, twice) to go out with my camera last week... old explorer-at-heart habits die hard. So while he was deep in a book on the beach, I climbed back up the cliffside of cute little Botany Bay and took in the waves from above. Hi everyone, my name is Nicolas and I am from Paris. As we say, travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer and i can’t get this sentence out of my head since I traveled for the first time. So much, that today, traveling is the only thing that makes me feel alive. My passion for photography appeared quickly on my first trip, but this is when I was in Latin America that I turned this passion into obsession. What I love the most is taking time to edit my photos of my adventures. It’s give me the opportunity to go back into my travels as If I was still there. More than saving precious memories, photography was for me a way to satisfy my need of expression through art. For me, photography is not just a « click » it’s before all the expression of a moment, a place, a feeling and editing process is for me way to share them all. I’ve never really known what I wanted to do with my life before the moment I had a camera in my hands, it is obvious today. I have a lot to discover I just began my learning. Now, I would like to professionalize myself in order to be independent. In ten years, I see myself as a famous photographer and live off photography. I have not finished yet to discover the world and wonders it has to offer. Svalbard is the fastest-heating place on earth. Glaciers are retracting and rain is replacing snow. Some call it the centre of a perfect climate storm. Against this backdrop artists create art inspired by these changes. Ellen Karin Mæhlum has visited Svalbard regularly since 2001 and has created several prints depicting the shifting landscape. “I have been to Svalbard regularly for the past 20 years and observed how many of the glaciers have retracted. The power and vulnerability of the ice-covered landscape is overwhelming. Это единственный обитаемый остров здесь. Население составляет около 1600 человек, большинство из них проживает в поселке Хужир. Ольхон, имея протяженность всего в 73 км, вобрал в себя большое многообразие природных ландшафтов: здесь есть равнины, степи, песчаные бухты, лес, скалы, хвойные рощи и болота. ⠀ Ольхон - святая святых бурятских шаманов, сакральный центр силы в Бурятии и обитель многочисленных богов и духов из монгольской мифологии. За свою многолетнюю историю остров оброс большим количеством древних легенд. По преданию, именно здесь получил свой дар первый бурятский шаман. I can’t stop thinking about the wildfires out west. Last week while I was in South Carolina, I checked the local air quality: 8 AQI. About as clean as it gets. I then checked Portland’s at the time, and it was literally off the charts—the AQI index maxes out at 500. I don’t paint landscapes because I like them—I paint from a place of fierce love. It is not an exaggeration to say that wild places have saved my life. So when I read that birds are tumbling from the southwestern sky in mass die-offs from a mix of toxic air and drought-driven starvation, it breaks me. Into sobs. I ache to witness how we have become so collectively disconnected from the ecosystems that we depend on for survival. What I share with you here is mostly beautiful, because to be honest? It’s the only thing that keeps me going these days. And, as John O’Donohue put it, “Because there is nowhere else to turn and we are desperate; furthermore, it is because we have so disastrously neglected the Beautiful that we now find ourselves in such terrible crisis.” And because, as my friend @kehl.on.earth reminded me, “Blue is hope.” If you came for pretty paintings and are still reading this far, thank you. I’m now inviting you to stay for dinner, where we’re going to talk about climate change—by which I mean climate destabilization and ecosystem collapse. The paintings will stay (mostly) pretty. But the captions are gonna get real. So hey. I’m Sarah. I like mountains, wildflowers, and sunsets, and I also read all the IPCC reports and have a semi-secret other social media life on Twitter where I follow climate scientists. I am going to try to be more honest here about what my creative process is like. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies; it’s also wildfires and grief. I hope that by sharing this, I might help someone feel less alone. All that’s to say, here’s a painting of what California looks like when not on fire. 👩🦰In Irlanda mi son sentita a casa.👩🦰 Anche se il podio spetta alla Scozia, in Irlanda oltre il 10% della popolazione ha i capelli rossi, mentre nel resto del mondo la percentuale si aggira tra l1% e 2%. Qui da qualche anno esiste pure la Irish Redhead Convention, nata casualmente dall’idea di due fratelli con i capelli rossi, che decisero di invitare alla loro festa di compleanno solo ‘gingers’, cioè teste rosse. In questi raduni sono previsti simpatici giochi (come il lancio della carota 🤣), ma anche premi per la miglior barba rossa o per il volto con il più alto numero di lentiggini, così come mostre e seminari sui capelli rossi. Infine, lincoronazione del re e regina della Convention, naturalmente dai capelli rigorosamente rossi. Non vi nascondo che dopo una brutta infanzia nella quale mi sentivo stupidamente diversa, ora mi piacerebbe molto partecipare! I lasted about 20 minutes on the educational hike and then my need to see the landscape from the top of this hill won out and they sent me on my way. What a joy to set up an easel and paint on this hill, where not many feet travel, and even fewer easels get dragged up and put to use. Life is hard to predict, so keeping my eyes open, I know this opportunity may not come again. How thankful I am to be here today.
