It was in Edmonton, and at that particular industry week I met Louis O’Reilly - who 8 years later would become my manager. At that particular industry week I met Jim Cressman - who 9 years later would become my agent and co-manager. At that particular industry week, I was introduced to Steve Coady and Laura Fraser, who 13 years later would sign me to a record deal with @warnermusiccanada. I was too young to understand the power of manifestation. I was too young to understand what destiny really meant, or what it was. But I would write down my goals on a piece of paper, and tape it on my bedroom mirror. I would look at them every day. And now, somehow, I’m here... 18 years later, still in shock and still on a high from the most extraordinary CCMA weekend of my life. And guess who I celebrated with? Louis O’Reilly, my manager. I was just reading yesterday that from 2010-2017 the suicide rate in ages 14-25 years old has increased 56%. Pretty scary. Having had suicidal thoughts myself I know how lonely and isolated it can feel, even though I am a pretty open person when it gets to that point it can seem impossibly to reach out to the ones you love. Real conversations seem to be diminishing in this digital age, it seems more common to find people making eye contact with their smart phones rather than the people that are around us.
