A deep state of relaxation is the key to healing. Allowing the body and mind to rest, blocking out stressors can activate its own healing system. Recently I have been working more and more with the Psoas muscle. Deep in the abdomen it connects the upper and the lower body. It gets highly activated in fight and flight responses allowing us to run, kick, hunch. Along with an activated nervous system it’s part of the trauma response. When we relax it by laying on our back with our feet on the ground not more then hip width apart we are allowing our system to go into a deeper state of restoration.
