Cell (Dragon Ball)

Cell (Dragon Ball)

Embedded throughout the gastrointestinal system is an extensive array of neurons that coordinates nearly all activities involved in digestion. These cells make up the enteric nervous system (ENS) and transmit signals from the gut to the brain, but are rare and fragile, making them difficult to isolate and study. A team led by researchers at the Broad and @massgeneral_ri has now overcome these challenges with two new methods, developed and used to generate a single-cell map of the ENS in humans and mice. Their findings suggest that the ENS is a central hub linking the intestinal, immune, and central nervous systems, and plays an important role in allergic, inflammatory, and motility disorders of the gut — as well as diseases affecting the brain. This image is a cross-section of mouse tissue that expresses GFP (green) in all ENS nuclei and tdTomato (red) in all ENS cells (neurons and glia). The section is also stained with DAPI (blue) to mark all nuclei and an anti-TUBB3 antibody (white) to mark all neurons. Read more at http://broad.io/single-cell-atlas. Link in bio. 🆘The Major Group of Children and Youth to UN Environment (UNEP-MGCY) a.k.a Global Constituency of Youth for Environment (GCYE) is a group of young individuals and youth organizations that work towards environmental conservation and the representation of young peoples voices in governance and conservation processes.🙏 During a webinar organized in April this year, together with UNEP Marine Litter, the objective was to find better ways to engage the youth with crucial process within UNEA. 🤝 The key aspects were: 👍 How youth entities can be further inter-grated into the work of UNEP, including special campaigns and initiatives. The need for more knowledge and evidence on how marine litter impacts well being of children and youth. Joint partnerships for supporting, showcasing and mobilizing resources for Youth Action on preventing plastic pollution.🙌🏼 If you are interest to learn more and engage, please visit: https://www.youthenvironment.org Cartoon: myako eco pinterest - @route.usa on Instagram

- There’s a chance that when you’re pregnant, instead of growing a baby and a healthy placenta in your uterus, you grow a gestational aberration called a hydatiform mole. Here’s one where the mole has completely filled up the uterus and obliterated the cavity.

#CORONAVIRUS #covid_19 It’s on everyone’s minds and rightly so. Today’s latest UK guidance in a nutshell: * High fever or new persistent cough in your household? Stay at home for 14 days 🦠 * Avoid going out from home unless it is really essential 🦠 * If necessary you should ask for help from others to drop supplies off to you 🦠 * Stop all non-essential contact with others, and stop all unnecessary travel 🦠 * Work from home where you possibly can, and avoid social venues and gatherings 🦠 * Only use the NHS when we really need to and please go online rather than ringing NHS 11 🦠 * The advice about avoiding necessary social contact is particularly important for over 70s, pregnant women and those with long term health conditions. 🦠 If any primary care colleagues would like to see The Maltings Action Plan please visit link in profile ☝🏾🙏🏾 🦠 Incredibly proud to work with an amazing team. Go well all 🙏🏾 #flattenthecurve #safetyfirst - @drayanpanja on Instagram

- Whale sharks have dermal denticles (tiny teeth-like scales) on their eyes which protect them from abrasion. They can also pull their eyes back into their heads. It is hypothesized that these protective measures point to an importance in vision which has long been thought to not be the case in sharks

- @manumaurino on Instagram

The gut microbiome influences brain health, including how the brain recovers from stroke. Short chain fatty acids, a fermentation product from the bacteria in our guts, are a key component of gut health but their role in stroke recovery has not been explored. https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-01-harnessing-microbiome-recovery.html - @olivierbonucci on Instagram
