My world turned upside down 10 years ago today when I lost one of my closest friends, Jamie. She has now been gone for the same number of years as the duration of our friendship, which began in 6th grade when she recognized a loneliness in me and asked if I wanted to be friends. Our bond blossomed through the most formative of our coming-of-age years, and so much of who I am today — my ideals, my sense of humor, who I am as a friend, a daughter and a sister — comes from her influence on me. I wish that everyone who I’m close with now could have met her. She was hilarious, fearless, and so loving. I am grateful for the 10 years we spent learning and growing together (one of her favorite questions to ask was, “do we learn and grow as we get older?”), and 10 years since her passing, I’m grateful that I can still hear her voice and her laugh as clear as it’s always been. 💛💜 - @_little_fury_ on Instagram
