BREAKING: Wisconsin “Movers” Voter Purge List Errors — 39,722 Face Loss of Vote for Moving Despite not Having Moved On September 29, the Wisconsin Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether to require the cancellation of 129,000 voters’ registrations on grounds that they have moved. These voters were identified by a so-called “movers list” and did not respond to a postcard sent by the state Board of Elections. This “movers” list was obtained from a private entity, Electronic Registration Information Center [ERIC]. Until now, no one had tested the list to ask a simple question: Had these “movers” actually moved? We retained five consulting firms expert in the field of Advanced Address List Hygiene. They analyzed a list of 153,779 voters we obtained from the Board of Elections in June 2020. The list of 129,000 voters subject to the Supreme Court case is a sub-set of this list, but our findings remain, in proportion, unchanged. SUMMARY We found 39,722 Wisconsin voters who supposedly moved from their registration addresses, who, in fact, had not moved, a minimum 25.8% error rate based on the 153,779 “movers” list. We identified a further 58,404 or 38% who had moved, but only within their county. If even half of these moved locally, the error rate rises to 45.8%. Note: Wisconsin law and the NVRA prohibit cancelling the registration of those who move within their voting jurisdiction. There is measurable bias against voters of color and low-income voters, and evidence of bias against young and student voters. This house was built for Solomon Sigisimond Shad, a LaVilla liquor company owner, in 1909. Son of a Cuban-born mother, Shad was also known as The Whiskey Man and found in violation of state alcohol laws in 1914. In 1946, the house was acquired by Pedro Mendez (pictured). Born in Santiago, Cuba and running a tailoring company, Cuban club and restaurant in Harlem, Mendez opened a tailoring business (pictured) nearby in 1927. After hearing MaVynee Betsch, the Beach Lady of American beach and granddaughter of Abraham Lincoln Lewis sing, daughter Padrica Mendez (pictured) decided she wanted to sing opera. Studying in Italy, she would go on to have a career as an opera singer, actress and fashion designer. Surviving the neighborhoods failed 1990s urban renewal, the Mendez house is the last stately residence standing on West Monroe Street and one of the few remaining buildings tied to the neighborhoods early 20th century Latin heritage and historical story. #DECOLONIZE MAYOR BILL PEDUTOS WHITE SUPREMACIST IMAGINATION. Christopher Columbus was not an “explorer”. Columbus was a white supremacist colonizer. Columbus set the stage for chattel-slavery and contemporary racial capitalism in the US and beyond thru the calculated genocide and enslavement of Indigenous peoples. Columbus expropriated Indigenous land and trafficked Indigenous slaves for profit into European “markets”. This became the blueprint for the violent dispossession of African peoples and the transatlantic slave trade. Upholding the legacy of Columbus and referring to him as a “hero” is reverence for white supremacy and imperialism. It is a flagrant snub to the dignity of Black and Indigenous community members, an affront to all ancestors harmed by the settler-colonial project. Throughout US history, Columbus has been invoked by Italian-Americans as an icon of “hope”, “bravery”, and “perseverance” – immigrants often espousing his conquests in attempts to effectively assimilate into whiteness (and distance themselves from Blackness). There are many alternatives to the Columbus Kool-Aid tho. Such as the G.D.D.D. – The Women’s Defense and Assistance Group. The G.D.D.D. was the largest group of #antifascist women in Italy (1943-45), with around 70,000 members. These women took up arms against Hitler’s and Mussolini’s fascist forces, organized strikes, and provided meals and clothing for low income families. DOWN WITH COLUMBUS. I feel defeated. Once again I’m reminded that the world we live in is unfair, unjust, and pure evil. I wrote this piece to honor my mother - The woman behind the growth and progress of this poet. The strength and power I have today is a result of this brave woman. A woman who wasn’t afraid to fight the entire world for the sake of her three boys (I’m the middle child). HUGE congrats to my fellow Recording Academy members that put in major grass roots style work both locally & nationally back in October. The goal was to educate members of Congress and other Government officials about reforming the severely outdated 1995 law that governs many forms of licensing and royalties due to artists such as streaming music plays. We spoke & our government officials that we elected listened. | Artist currently do get paid per digital play or stream. Sadly the rate per play is roughly 1/8 of a penny. Artists on the radio get paid per play, however they get between $75-$100 per play. When an artist gets their music played via a streaming outlet their music is being played because the listener seeks the artist out & chooses to play their tracks. The radio crams whatever they want to play down your earhole. Record labels have to pay the radio stations to play their artists. #SeemsLegit | Spotify’s revenue doubled last year from $1.2 BIL to $3.3 BIL & they are estimating they will do $6 BIL in 2018. Spotify pls remember that the reason you are going to get 6 Bs this year is because of the ARTIST’S MUSIC you are charging people to hear via subscriptions or paid advertisement. Record streams = Today’s record sales. | The Music Modernization Act officially passed the U.S. House of Representative unanimously 415–0 vote Wednesday. Earlier the MMA passed through the House Judiciary Committee with a 32–0 vote. | Hopefully the Senate agrees that these 23 yr old laws were made when no one played songs on streaming outlets like @Spotify @Pandora @YouTube & @AppleMusic need to be reformed. | Good ‘ole Donald J. Trump needs to sign it & it will be a law. This will be a very historical moment in music. It will help musicians that are on their early grind earn enough money so they don’t have to have 6 part time jobs. One or two night surfriders were still at it on the darkened creaming waves. Far below me, on the moon-burnt beach, an elderly woman, probably a General Electric cashier, was holding up her muumuu while the small waves washed her feet. She looked forlorn and unloved in this place of the eternal honeymoon. The next day, probably, she would be back in Seattle, Iowa, New Orleans. Now, in the path of the moon and with the gay flambeaux and the crooning guitars behind her, she was having her last paddle.
