Recuerdo uno de los primeros paseos por la playa, que tanto ansiĆ”bamos durante el confinamiento. Fuimos a una de las calas de Roche, Cala Encendida, dĆ³nde lo Ćŗnico que se escuchaba eran las olas del mar romper en las rocas š. Ā”No habĆa prĆ”cticamente nadie! . Hace unos dĆas volvimos a pisar aquella misma arena, pero esta vez rodeados de sombrillas y mascarillas š·. . . ā¹ļøTIPS: - Si estĆ”is por CĆ”diz y salta el viento de Levante, estas son las mejores calas para resguardarse y seguir disfrutando del mar. - En estas playas no hay duchas, baƱos o chiringuitos. LlĆ©vate todo lo que necesites y no dejes nada en la playa cuando te vayas. - Las Calas de Roche forman parte del tĆ©rmino municipal de Conil, pero desde Cala Encendida se puede llegar caminando por la arena hasta la playa la Loma del Puerco, en Chiclana. - Llegar en transporte pĆŗblico es difĆcil, lo mejor es disponer de coche particular. . . . So heres what Ive done with my week off!ā£ ā£ If youve listened to my most recent episode of Wellness Unwrapped, youll know that I had a bit of an epiphany while journalling last month, when I realised that I need to spend more time off-grid in nature - and also that the pace of delivering a weekly podcast was depleting my energy. My journal came up with a neat solution: forget what everyone else is doing and switch to sharing an episode every two weeks.ā£ ā£ To mark my self-liberation from a schedule that I found far too rigid and demanding, I headed off for a few days camping in Cornwall with my husband (our kids are old enough to look after themselves - hooray!!).ā£ ā£ Honestly, its felt like a protracted version of Ferris Buellers Day Off. Without the kids in tow, we got to explore parts of Cornwall we hadnt visited before - plus we totally and unexpectedly lucked out with the weather. I hadnt seen the sea for well over a year and was missing it so much, Id actually been dreaming about it during lockdown (Im a Piscean and have always had a visceral connection to the sea).ā£ ā£ So this week, instead of stressing over podcast editing, shownotes etc etc, Iāve been swimming in the sea and in a magical lake, walking coastal paths with heart-melting views, cooling down in jacuzzi-like river pools, discovering 4000-year-old stone carvings, staring at a jaw-dropping night sky (we could even see the Milky Way), watching the campfire dance, enjoying freshly caught fish, having a cream tea by the sea, drinking local cider - and watching a beautiful seal ducking and diving just a few feet from me on this lovely beach.ā£ ā£ The podcast episode (Im choosing to do less: heres why) has touched such a chord with so many listeners whove messaged me to say it hit them between the eyes. Built between 1514 and 1520 in the unique portuguese manueline architecture style on the northern bank of the Tagus river, it was used to defend Lisbon. I probably wonāt mention anything about the failures of humanity in this caption, but just know Iām posting about them on my story whenever I find something relevant. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I never really speak in depth about my emotions on here, as in the past it has made me appear vulnerable so people treat me differently. Before you worry, Iām fine, you donāt need to check up on me because Iām ok. I think the last few weeks, Iāve been feeling shit. Thereās many factors: feeling worthless, coronavirus, lack of freedom, pending normality, humanityās disasters, it all just gets me down. Reading about the treatment of Black people and what is happening in Yemen makes me angry. I want to help, but apart from educating, donating and learning, I cannot fix all of the worldās problems. But I wish I could. I wish I could make life easier for everybody, no matter what their hardships may be. My feeling of self-love comes and goes, one day Iāll be preaching about loving yourself, then another Iāll feel totally under-appreciated and worthless. It comes in waves. But as I like to say, we must ride the waves. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In life there will be good and bad. The good being Iāve started up my own mini business by myself, learning a hobby with no experience, and finding a new passion, having so many loving people around me, being healthy, eating good food, and the bad being my lack of freedom and normality. I WISH I could go out and see people, I wish the whole virus could go away and everything could be the way it was, but things will never be the way they were again. **WORK/LIFE BALANCE** Iāve recently gone back to therapy and realised that to really be my most powerful in mind and spirit that I have to get my work/life balance nailed! . . Running a business is damn hard work and it can completely eat into your life, which was necessary for me to get PF off the ground and make it grow, but how do you get that balance back? . . I suffer from burnout with work; I give absolutely everything for weeks/months and then completely crash when my body and mind canāt take it anymore! Then I will have a break to recharge and struggle to get back into that mindset. Itās super tough when you have staff too because you always need to give your positive energy out to them, when you have no-one above you to give it back and hype you up! . . Today we continue our safety patrols. While we have seen an increase in visitors we are happy to report that we have not had to intervene and initiate a rescue. Everyone so far has been sensible while visiting the coast, staying on safe ground and not wandering out towards the mud. Please remember to keep your dogs on leads while on Brean Down as they may fall off the side while exploring and chasing new sights and smells. Hello all! Weāre all very pleased to announce the total findings from the beach clean. 113.7kg of rubbish was found by around 80 volunteers this morning on castle beach and going round near pendennis point too! Itās been a really amazing effort and weāve all enjoyed it, we hope you all had a fab day too! Also a big thank you to whoever helped to clear the sand and seaweed from outside the cafe and along the walkway, it wasnāt at all necessary and everyoneās generosity really helped us and saved us weeks worth of time! Special thank you to who organised the event @onebagbeachclean it was amazing to see everyone down helping out their community to benefit the environment! Really great to see! ā¤ļøā¤ļø Unfortunately weāre not going to open again until the new season starts which will be end of March however if thereās any particularly good weathered days, we may decide to open the cafe and if so, it will be mentioned on our Facebook page and here on the Instagram page too!
