✨Welcome to International Coaching Week! Today I am going to share a bit of my story and why I became a coach. I will start by sharing I love coaching because it’s an opportunity to partner with someone to create and to uncover new possibilities. As a coach, I don’t profess to be an expert at your life. You are the expert! I partner with you to: -explore your goals -acknowledge -validate -challenge you to create amazingness! ✨As a child, I grew up being called “Paula Positive,” a person with an empathetic ear, a genuine heart, and a positive outlook. I am a natural encourager! Later in life, as a professional, wife, and mom my expectations shifted to living life perfectly. I made plans based on ideals and visions that were not realistic. I was reacting instead of embracing life to the point of becoming sick. In 2018, I made a declaration to shift my focus to embrace my life, in being open to vulnerability. I recalled finding joy in encouraging and empowering others, so I enrolled in a coaching program. The program challenged my fears, expectations, assumptions, and limiting beliefs. Today, I consider myself a recovering perfectionist. It’s safe to say that I’m learning to celebrate wins (big and small). I learned that: - Its ok to not know the outcome of every situation - It’s ok to change plans -It’s ok to show vulnerability and to not have all the answers It’s all a part of the process called life! Before I became a recruitment consultant, I was so sure that the key to a successful hiring process was to make sure that my resume had punchlines and passed through any form of algorithm on the AMS. Boy, was I wrong! Every hiring process starts and ends with a PERSON. Not a computer, not a machine, but a PERSON with actual feelings, emotions, ideas, values and opinions and at the end of the day they want to connect with a fellow person who fits the idea of what they have in mind. Hiring is truly an emotional process for the hiring manager and at the end of the day, what truly sticks out for them are soft skills and emotional connections. Why do you think hiring managers are impressed with candidates who have worked in one company for a while? They don’t celebrate the years of experience gathered, they actually celebrate the loyalty. So before you decide to change anything about you career personal brand, remember that we also like the natural, innate personal characteristics and strengths that make you YOU and this can sometimes compensate in areas you’re lacking. Your dedication and team collaboration spirit can sometimes be way more valuable than your ability to use a particular software. And yes, sharing your genuine passion and enthusiasm for your career can make a greater impact on an interviewer than being an Office 365 guru. We want to know YOU. We want to meet YOU. We want to see the soft skills that make you stand out. Who you work with in business is everything. Your partners, vendors, and team can alter people’s perception of your brand — and their willingness to do business with you again. When someone recommends me to a friend or family member, I am especially cognizant of this. I am careful about whom I recommend professionally to clients. For example, vendors I recommend professionally to do work over $1,000 need to be licensed with the Arizona ROC and I need to have seen their work. I am feeling especially grateful, though, to @robertforemanaz, who was the mortgage loan officer for some clients, now friends, of ours who have sold 2 properties with me and are now buying their dream home. 🙌🏽 Not only did our clients do amazing by being proactive with their paperwork, but Robert did amazing in getting their loan done in time to close almost a week early! CHOOSE FAITH OVER FEAR I’m honestly not sure how far we are into stage 4 lockdown now? I’m just trying to keep going with the flow, and maintain a sparkly positive mindset. I’ve stopped reading the news and putting negativity into my mind, but still finding that sneaky “fear monster” attempting to slip into my thoughts with doubts and fears. It’s been a good reminder to simply take a moment to be still, breathe and choose faith over fear. Fear is a perception, it’s False Evidence Appearing Real. Some of the fear and doubt that I’ve been experiencing lately has been around setting up my new business. If I had’ve known exactly how challenging the start-up phase would be, I may not have done it, but I am sooo glad I forged faithfully forward with my hopes and dreams (without a clue of what lays ahead) When I stop and remember my “why”, I suddenly feel calm, confident and centred. My courage kicks in, and my passion and purpose-driven mission is reignited... to remind every woman and girl that she is WORTHY. To help her to know exactly who she is, what she stands for, and what she wants to say. Here are my 3 greatest self taught small business hacks! We all need a trick or two in our repertoire when it comes to running a small business. Here’s three of my greatest tried and tested hacks that I have learnt over the years. 💵 Are you a sole operator and hate that confrontation of chasing unpaid invoices? Create a “Karen”. Creating a fictional accounts person in your business simply by creating a unique email address and a new email signature can work wonders. “Karen” can get really stern on those debtors who aren’t playing by the rules and little do they know it’s you sending the emails, so next time you do business with them, the relationship between you both will be amicable and remain pleasant! Cha Ching! 💪🏻 Fake it until you make it! Creating urgency or sharing your successes will give the perceived value that others want you which means the rest will want you too! In your quietest of times is particular is when you should create a sense of people “missing out” on your service or product because by doing so that will help boost your business. One of my favourite things to remember is ‘Perception is Reality’. 👘 Have a point of difference. When I first started shooting weddings I used to wear a “daytime dress” and then for the reception I’d change into something more formal or “party” like and pop on a bright lipstick. Every single time guests would be astounded that the photographer would go to so much effort and it most certainly was a talking point. This was a simple point of difference but one which I believe led to me shooting 50 weddings a year throughout my career. Do you have any hacks that you use in your business? I’d love to hear them! И конечно, органический мусор здесь отделяют от остального. ⠀ А мой муж обожает, когда дома чистота и порядок, регулярно убирается сам и ругается, если какая-то коробочка не на месте. ⠀ И вот однажды мне пришел клиентский заказ - чехол в маленькой плоской коробочке. Лежал себе и никого не трогал. Однако Альберто решил, это мусор и выкинул ее. Мне повезло, что бумагу вывозят ТОЛЬКО раз в неделю. И когда я очнулась в поисках заказа откопала его в бумаге на выброс. Выдох. ⠀ Правда была и обратная ситуация, когда заказов очень очень много... ⠀ Я купила клиентке духи Hermes. Пришла домой и оставила упакованный маленький пакетик со всеми ленточками в комнате, где храню заказы. И случайно положила этот пакет вместе с другими ненужными на выброс. Торопилась успеть вынести мусор, ведь бумагу забирают РАЗ в 7 дней. 😭 Пришлось срочно ехать покупать новые духи... A L L E S A N D E R S Wie ihr bemerkt habt, ist es hier in den letzten Tagen sehr ruhig geworden. Seit Montag ist alles anders. Seit Montag ist wieder Alltag. Alltag nach den Ferien. Alltag nach dem Urlaub und vor allem Alltag nach Corona! Seit Montag darf ich wieder Vollzeit im Büro arbeiten. Aber auch hier ist alles anders. Ich sitze nicht mehr im Karriereberatungsbüro, sondern im Bereich des Dezernatsgruppenleiters direkt im Karrierecenter. Viele neue Eindrücke prasseln auf mich ein. Viele Besprechungen, Einweisungen und Gespräche prägen den Dienstalltag zur Zeit und selbstverständlich gibt es auch viele neue Kollegen und Kameraden kennenzulernen. Für mich ist die Anfangszeit in einer neuen Verwendung immer sehr spannend und aufregend. Die Neugier in mir ist geweckt, ich bin voller Vorfreude auf das was da kommt. I don’t remember the first time I picked up a camera, however I do remember the first time I felt the guilt of calling off work because my kid was sick. I was a new nurse at the time and my kid was 4 with a 103 fever and my manager said to me, “can’t her dad stay at home with her?”⁣ ⁣ That’s when I knew I had to ask for a specific opportunity where I could provide for my family and be home with my child without the guilt of being a freaking mom!⁣ ⁣ A Facebook reminder reminded me of a post from 8 years ago that read: “I have to say , me and this photography thing about to blow up!” WOW! ⁣ ⁣ I don’t know have an official business start date, I don’t have an official day I made the decision to start visualizing a different life and showing up like it existed, I don’t know how it all eventually came together but I do know I started and never stopped.⁣ ⁣ These days, I’m extremely honest about what I want, how I want it, where I want to be, pray for it, write it down, make room for it , show up for it and freaking living it out. ⁣ ⁣ I no longer have mom guilt and for that I’m forever grateful. - @smarchephoto on Instagram

This is how it manifested. - Being scared to make posts on Linked in , FB or IG because I was worried what my friends/Network would think.(🤮) - Not following up with clients or prospects because I didn’t want to come across as “needy” or pushy. - Procrastinating to reach out to an IDEAL client that I knew I could HELP, simply out of fear of rejection. - But I didn’t just take a magic kool aid to make it disappear. 😳 The best way for me to move through that scare, was to literally go through it. - I leaned into the reality that I might get rejected... - I encourage you to really think about the ways you’re letting yourself keep playing small because you’re worried about looking stupid. Lean into it. Do it anyway. Stomach butterflies and all. - Go through it to come out the other end. If I can do it. (and still do). Trust me, you can too. - Now, I play big and not about to let anyone get in the way... I started my business in February of this year. The plan was to sell our products through markets, events, and pop up shops, as well as through our online store. Shortly after opening, the world shut down. Then, in addition to being a new business owner, I also became a teacher, which was definitely an adjustment. Three children, two different grades, and one wild toddler. Some days are harder than others, but we push through. Everyday, I remind myself that humans are capable of SO much. We are strong, resilient, powerful individuals that can face and conquer just about any challenge presented. This has been an interesting year to say the least. A definite eye opener. We are looking forward to this next year and we can’t wait to see where it takes us. We started with hand painted Terra-Cotta planters and made a switch to handmade clay jewelry. In addition to our handmade pieces, we are also adding products from other creators and women owned companies. Hello! Making this announcement feels so strange, but I have decided to no longer do photography. I can’t believe where this journey has taken me & where I started 12 years ago! I had a passion to document people’s lives & provide moments that they will cherish forever! I can’t even begin to describe all the joy that photography & owning my own business has brought to me! I feel so blessed to have been asked to witness such amazing love stories, families & moments! I can’t believe the amazing couples & families that I’ve gotten to be apart of, especially w/ my wedding couples! What a honor that you would choose me to come be apart of your wedding day & document such special moments. I seriously have had the BEST clients ever, some that have even developed into wonderful friendships over the years. I’ve laughed with you, cried w/ you & have gotten so excited about some shots that I’ve screamed in excitement w/ you! It’s been such a blessing seeing couples expand & have families, watching children grow up when I photographed them as little ones, providing photos of loved ones that aren’t around anymore to find out that the photos I took were some of the last, I could go in & on! I can’t even begin to describe what joy it has been to have this business! With our move to Wichita last year, & having 2 precious little girls, I’ve felt the Lord calling me to close this chapter in my life & focus on my family for the time being. I dont know what the future holds or if I’ll open my photography back up again or not, but trusting in the Lord & truly feel that this is the right decision, even though it may be a hard one. I’ve heard many times that what’s for you is for you and it will make its way to you regardless. . I have learned to believe it. . Just a few short months ago, in June, I decided to step outside of my corporate training bubble and teach a class on Allyship to the general public. . I teach courses ranging from tens to thousands and my first D2C session settled at an intimate three dozen people. . It turns out one of those attendees was an acquisitions editor for a major publishing house, and she loved the course! . I have always held a dream in my heart to write a book and become a published author. As a matter of fact, at the beginning of this year, I set the intention to work on a book project this fall. . Fast forward to today, and my first book will be out this November on Wiley Press. Happy Monday! This week is back to business as usual. Recently invested in some planners to help keep life organized and last week I slipped up and did not plan. HUGE MISTAKE. Pretty much winged it every single day last week and was a hot mess express trying to balance it all, which left me really anxious and overwhelmed. I found myself just doing way too much and feeling extremely burnt out by the end of the week. Getting back into a routine is helping me remain stress free (for the most part because, kids 🥴). It really just helps me stay focused on what my goals are so Im not piling more on my plate than I can realistically handle. Feels good going into the week knowing exactly what I want to accomplish for the week and exactly whats on my to-do list so I can check things off. Heres to a new week, new goals, and a fresh start! As women, we grow up in a society telling us to be quiet, be polite, be feminine, be agreeable, blah, blah, blahhhh.⠀ 🙄⠀ I spent so many years doing just that. ⠀ Working in the hospitality industry, you are taught the guest is ALWAYS right. So when a grown man is yelling at my face, my job is to nod in agreeance, apologize for whatever has upset them, and then literally reward them for complaining by giving them free stuff. WHAT?!!⠀ 🤬⠀ Starting off in the photography industry, I had the same mindset. Do whatever it takes to please everyone else. Sacrifice your time, your energy, and your peace to appease others. And sometimes even that was not enough to stop the harassment.⠀ 😅⠀ Then I remember:⠀ I AM MY OWN FREAKING BOSS. ⠀ I OWN MY OWN FREAKING COMPANY. ⠀ I CALL THE FREAKING SHOTS.⠀ 😎⠀ This year I have had the time to take a step back and re-asses my business, my goals, my values, and what exactly it means to be a Sarah Crost Photography couple.⠀ 🗒⠀ I am more than ready to do the work necessary to build the company that I have always wanted to work for. To pay it forward every time I book a client. To speak up when I see injustice. Focus on the Good. Because my current body mate parties all night, I couldnt sleep. This sleep deprivation afforded me the opportunity to catch up avec un mon ami in Australia. We discussed the fickleness of friendships on social media. She shared the hurt shed experienced from thinking shed formed genuine bonds to being ghosted. During my morning walkie-talkies via my stories, I shared my experiences (check them before they delete.) Theres a few things I can take away from my time blogging/being on social media: ☝🏽. Social media provides space for people to be: who they wish they could be, who they want to become or intensifies who they already are. ✌🏽. Social media is a different experience for everyone. Some use this space to seek validation, accreditation or confirmation. Others use this space to form relationships/bonds that their introverted (or social skills) personalities prevent in real life. There are genuine people on the internet and I can attest to that. I have met mes amies who I know wholeheartedly are there for me, on or offline. The choice is yours. Will you focus on the few fickle friends/followers? Or will you choose to cultivate and connect in all things good/light? Be gentle mes amies, you never know the mental or emotional state of the people behind the façade we see on their feeds. 📷 I had to pose in just a dramatic form. Hi! 👋🏾 Lots of new faces around here so I felt it important to drop in. Firstly, I’d like to thank you all for the support I’ve received over the last few days in the form of sharing my work, reaching out, and even making a purchase. It all means so much and I truly appreciate it. I will be honest. It felt a bit strange at first. I mean... I really didn’t *do* anything to warrant new followers right? I have merely existed in the skin I was born in. Then I realized it is bigger than that. There’s been a shift and people are reflecting, having tough conversations and mobilizing. Here on social, people are actively seeking to diversify their feeds and show love to those who are underrepresented in their respective communities but still have just as much to offer as the next. We love to see it! My name is Tiffany and I am a black ceramicist. I started because I wanted to make pots for all of my houseplants that actually worked with my home decor. The truth is BIPOC are the minority in this medium but we are here... some of my faves are @utilityobjects, @ceramics.byangelique and @tactilematter. I look forward to engaging with you all. Just over here “casually” creating a sample board.🤣 my favorite part of this shoot with @malaikahilson was that I got to honor my mema in every shot by rocking her chain. She was the most creative woman I’ve ever known. Her ability to make something out of nothing never ceased to amaze me. From her hand sewn church fits, to the matching outfits she made for me ☺️, to decorative wreaths, drapery...the list goes on and on. And I can’t forget her perfectly styled living room with hand upholstered items. The memory of her velvet blue chairs lives on. Love doing makeup for professional portraits and this one was no exception! Design boss @kkgtadesign is an incredible branding guru, who was looking for a mobile, eco- friendly makeup artist who uses all natural skincare and makeup for all skin tones. How to avoid computer headaches 👩🏽‍💻- A recent article in @migraineagain described some simple but effective steps to help avoid eye strain from the computer and other screens, which can be a migraine trigger👩🏽‍💻. . 👩🏽‍💻Balance your screen brightness with the brightness around your workspace. You should not be in a dim room with a bright screen as the contrast can be straining on the eyes 👀. . 👩🏽‍💻Adjust the monitor refresh rate- this is how many times your screen renews its image. When they are set too low, the monitor can flicker which can cause an extra strain on eyes 👀. . 👩🏽‍💻Install a screen filter or try glasses that specifically block out the harsh blue light that is thought to be the worst for eye strain.
