Glad to put a bookend on this week. On Tuesday, we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Lily. She’s been my sidekick, confidant, and “guard dog” for the last 14 years. Her big brown old man eyes, her ability to run and jump like a deer, and her constant presence kept us entertained, loved, and comforted. She was there when I met Scott (and tried to scare him off😉), she protected all my babies when they came home from the hospital, and she put up with Clifton (quite the task). We could have never asked for a better family dog, and we will miss her so much. The house is super quiet without her. #TBT In the early 70s One night, Brook and Stormie were sleeping at the (Carmel Valley) ranch in the hay barn, waiting for a mare to foal. Late that night a car pulled into the ranch. It turned around, stopped, and the passenger door opened. A dog was pushed out. The car door slammed, and the car drove off into the night. They whistled to the dog and it came. It was a very large gray speckled puppy with four white feet. The puppy slept with them in the barn and the next morning they told their mom the story. She said he looked like a Great Dane puppy, but she didnt know for sure. So, she named him Honk, for Heaven Only Knows what he is. Honk became Sue Sallys constant companion for the next 14 years. Since the passing of Cannoli; we have been comforted by the IG community from around the world. The extant of the impact by Cannoli bravery was something i never was aware of till we have received so many heartfelt messages and gifts. This makes it much more of a profound loss then we realized. To his last breath he was with the hearts of who loved him and i was happy to share his last moments with you live. This is just an example of the love received by all these good hearts put together the funds for his stone. (i cant imagine the shipping!) His resting place is now becoming a destination. Today, Sept 28, 2020 at 4:40 p.m. PST, Megan took her final breath on this side of the curtain of eternity. She was surrounded by her family and those she loved dearly. This picture of Meg and Tammy in 2014 captures our image of Megan long before her life course changed unexpectedly. The second, in 2018, was Meg and Tammy the day before her first stem cell transplant when they visited a winery. Meg was absolutely beautiful in every way, with long hair or little hair. In the past four plus years Megan fought first breast cancer and then AML leukemia. The love, support and care you have extended to Meg, Tammy and our family is appreciated beyond words. Today our hearts grieve as Meg leaves us and is now with God who loves her thoroughly, completely. Life without her is impossible to imagine today and we will lean on others and the breath of God as we mourn her. There will come a time to celebrate her amazing life, but today we sit in our grief, cherishing her life and its impact on us, you. What.... a week it has been! I have been on countless phone calls, conference calls and meetings this week about the state of our community and the place that I am so fortunate to call home: @sonomacounty I understand why Wine Road has officially canceled the second weekend of Barrel Tasting, but also know that each of the wineries is going to be open this weekend and offering some sort of barrel-esque experiences, too! While revisiting through some of the photos that have been taken at various wineries and events over the past year or so, I can say that even in these times where we as a community, have struggled the most - be it floods, fires and now the Coronavirus, we as locals in Sonoma County live in a unique bubble wherein a shred of “normalcy” in the darkest hour can and has been able to lift us back up for a smile and a laugh. . In this time, we all ask that if you’re not feeling well, it’s best to error on the side of caution and stay home. If you’re venturing out and about, be mindful of “everyday hygiene” - wash your hands, don’t sneeze into the room, throw your tissue away (don’t put it in your pocket to save it for later or leave it on a counter!). And again, wash your hands. . These are a few of my favorite pictures from this last year - where memories have been made that will last a lifetime.
