Cycle Synching~ Throughout our menstrual cycles, our fluctuating hormone levels influence our mood, energy, how we act and react. Cycle synching is when we adapt our food, exercise, work commitments and social engagements to match where we are at in our monthly cycle. I have focussed on food and nutrition, including seed cycling . 🩸 Menstrual phase: now is the time to be increasing iron and B-vitamin rich food to replenish what lost in our blood and support our energy. Increase vitamin C rich foods to increase iron absorption. Reduce pain & inflammation. Avoid raw cold and frozen foods, including raw vegetables or too many cold fruits during this time; we need warmth now to help reduce inflammation and support blood flow . 🤸‍♀️Follicular phase: a time of high energy requirements as we develop follicles which contain our eggs. One follicle becomes dominant and towards the end of this phase produces oestrogen to thicken the uterine lining in preparation for implantation. Supporting oestrogen is really important now and eating good quality protein, fats and carbs to support healthy egg growth . 🥚 Ovulation: the mature egg is released from the ovary, you are most fertile. Warming foods increase blood flow and nutrients to the uterus. As during your period, avoid raw, cold and frozen foods. Bone broth is brilliant to support digestion & pineapple (especially the core) is a great source of bromelain for digestion and embryo implantation . 🤰Luteal phase: vitamin B6 supports progesterone which peaks for potential implantation. 🌸Let’s start with the basics so we are all on the same page🌸 vagina = inner canal inside your body vulva = outer parts around the vagina including the clitoris and labia (lips) I’ll say it boldly for everyone in the back to hear: your vagina CLEANS ITSELF with natural secretions and keeps itself healthy by maintaining the correct PH balance. The good bacteria in your vagina maintain a slightly acidic pH balance that makes it hard for the bad bacteria to enter and infect your vagina. When you use soaps, sprays, or gels to wash your vagina, you disrupt this harmonious balance of bacteria. That’s when things like yeast infections or bacterial vaginosis take over. My message: if you want a clean vagina, let it clean itself! 1. You’re telling me not to wash with soap? Yes, I am. I consistently see women in clinic with tissue irritation secondary to unnecessary vulvar cleaning. Complaints about irritation or burning during penetrative intercourse often lead to a discussion surrounding vaginal hygiene. If you are absolutely insistent on cleaning your vag with soap, use a soap that is unscented and mild. 2. What about feminine wash? Don’t waste your money. Walk on right by these in the aisle at the drug store. I truly believe these were made to make women feel badly about themselves and their normal bodily odours. 3. K, soooo what do I do!? Wash your vulva with warm water. You can spread your labia apart to clean within the folds using a clean washcloth or your hands. Avoid getting soap inside your vagina. - @bloomphysio on Instagram
