It’s been 4 years today since my dad left this world. This is his first anniversary I’ve not been alone for it. Ive been fortunate enough to finally spend it with my mum, sister, Nanna and Nigel. We spread his ashes, which was unplanned but very special. A farewell I won’t forget. Dads funeral had so many people, which was amazing but we never got that special moment for us as to say goodbye. Today we had that moment. Don’t get me wrong it was hard, but so beautiful. I miss him more than I can say, but I’m so happy he isn’t suffering anymore. Cancer is a cunt and I wouldn’t wish it upon the worst of people. Hold the ones you love and hold them tight. God bless you my man. See u for a few sometime soon. It can be difficult when you are trained as a medical doctor & you are a healer. You believe in the woo... well most of it. You see spirit. You feel & work with energies. You are a Edgewalker, who can travel to other realms. You believe in science & honour the life saving benefits of Medicine. It’s difficult to find your fit when you believe in the medical system, yet see clearly the trauma it can produce. When the Medical world inherently is oppressive & colonised, and your kind of medicine or the way that you interact with Spirit doesn’t fit. Prior to colonisation healers were honoured. Traditional healing techniques, healing songs and bush medicines were the only form of primary health care. For Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders the impact of colonisation & the forced removal & disconnection of people from their land and customs, had a major impact on our capacity to heal our way. They tried to wash away our healing knowledge with our blood and tears. Yet not matter how disconnected we are perceived to be from our culture, the echo remains in our bones. So from this Healer a Doctor emerged, carrying her legacy forward by honouring & acknowledging shamanic and traditional healers from my Torres Strait Islander, my Celtic and Viking lineages and the Indigenous knowledge my ancestors held. It draws me back to the question, how does someone like me fit in? When you know the way you can help heal people, or how you hold the birth and death portals is profound. When your hands get hot, & those old men who were your teachers sit with you in the red desert sand & traced energy lines in your body. When you see & work with Dragons, sometimes preferring that realm to this one How do I fit in? Well I don’t really. I am a Doctor and a healer. It’s no longer a either/or, it’s a both. If there are more of us, we won’t need to fit. We won’t be fringe dwellers anymore. We will alight in a system that is crumbling & be the beacon of change. The alpha and omega. The Serpent Dragon who reaches out to catch its tail with its mouth. The devouring & the rebirth The shedding. The cycling. Life, death, birth, rebirth. It’s been one year since I started playing the drums so I could be in a band with @annasaurus_wrex @djemmapeel and Ginger! Proving that it’s never too late and you’re never too old. I’m still looooooooving it. I started on some saucepans then I upgraded to a real kit. @wlgmetalcouture has helped teaching me and also helped me find a nice kit on fb marketplace. Io suono lorgano Hammond in Bang A Gong (Get It On) cantata da David Johansen celebre cantante dei mitici New York Dolls. In questo doppio vinile tributo suonano U2, Elton John, Nick Cave, Joan Jett, Julian Lennon, Marc Almond, Peaches e altri. Prodotto da uno dei più grandi: Hal Willner, uno dei più talentuosi colossi della musica dei nostri tempi, purtroppo ha lasciato questo mondo lo scorso aprile. Il disco è stato mixato da Marc Urselli grande sound engineer attivo a New York, il quale mi contattò perché non trovavano lorganista adatto per questo brano, ho registrato il mio organo ed è piaciuto ad Hal Willner di conseguenza la mia parte è stata scelta. El 18 de Agosto saldrá mi sexto disco llamado ¨A la sombra del árbol azul¨. Hora 0. Es un disco de tono folclórico argentino inspirado en mi jardín, los amigos, en mis perras, y en mi familia. Las giras por el país, asados, vino y lo de siempre: contemplación, vista larga, ruta y horizonte. Es un mensaje positivo que quiero dejarle a la gente que me quiere inspirado también en la fragilidad de la vida como fuerza divina. El sonido del legüero es el latido de mi corazón. Pienso que ese sonido del viento soplando los cielos puede llevar mi aliento para quienes amo. Cobijando el silencio. Acompañando en la ausencia. En la hechura estuvieron involucradxs compañeres del camino: compuse varias de estas canciones junto a @chechofla ; me acompañó emocional y rítmicamente @lauphanlitoral desde Rosario, y mezclamos codo a codo con @nicopestarino . La foto de la tapa la sacó mi amada @vivistallone , sobre el hermoso cuadro pintado por @soyjorgela y el diseño lo hizo @lucianoinflamable . Me ayudó mucha más gente que nombraré cuando el disco esté para escuchar. Quería buscar en la raíz musical de nuestra tierra, a modo de aprendizaje, homenaje, y reflejo, haciéndome cargo de mis cualidades de cantor y de mi aprendizaje folclórico, de la data pasada entre amigueros: la música compartida para que suene. Abrirse entero sin hacerse el gaucho, mamando la música y la poesía de los vinilos de #mercedessosa y #atahualpa en el tocadiscos #audinac que heredé de mi abuelo, durante todas las noches de estos años. Los borrosos y vívidos recuerdos de paisajes viajes por Tucumán, atravesando tantísimas veces Santiago del Estero y su ruta eterna, el camino desde Amaicha a Salta y hasta Jujuy. Bajar por Catamarca, Colalao del valle, San Marcos, tomar Santa Fe y su litoraleza que hamaca la canoa entre camalotes. Las canciones son infinitas y viven eternamente en el cosmos del viento que sopla el cielo al poner su voz en mi pecho. It can keep a person warm eternally. When things are going really well it can feel effortless. It can feel like you’re just floating that and nothing can touch you. You’re in the zone. This is what it means to be in the zone all the time. It’s a kind of work out 🏋️♀️ and discipline to stay there because it takes tremendous effort. But you don’t have to do it alone. The Jimi Hendrix Experience on the set of my shoot for The Mothers of Invention’s Were Only In It For The Money album cover, New York, 1967. Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention saw the Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover and my cover shoot of the Stones in drag for their album Have You Seen Your Mother Baby Standing in the Shadow and wanted to do a take on both, but instead of flowers and trains, they wanted vegetables and random garbage. Jimi had just come back from London with the Experience (Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell) and agreed to be the act for the opening of my club Salvation along with 2 concerts in New York. Hey guys I’m very happy to share that this coming Thursday and Friday is gonna be two very important music releases that I’m very proud and excited about. One of them is Release of the Debut Single called “Tonight” of my band @highgrassband . I remember being in Havana wanting to do a rock record with real instruments and musicians friends. At some point we manage to start the process and recorded songs in my bedroom with very limited resources but always felling fully inspired. Starting this Friday 2nd all those songs are gonna be available on all the platforms to listen. You can now pre save it on Spotify (LINK IN MY BIO). Thank you The other release is the Cuban Music Album “Red Suitcase” from my friend and super talented artist @yosmelbass . It was recorded in Los Angeles where I’ve been living the last four years. I always wanted to do a live Cuban Music Record and when Yosmel asked me to record his full length Album I loved the idea. The Record was performed live with about ten players in the same room and the sessions where just pure fun. It’s coming out this Thursday April 2nd. A little over a yeah ago, New Acid had its film festival world premiere at Locarno Film Festival, and having it screened on a 28 meter wide screen in front of an audience of 8000 people was one of the most humbling experiences in my life. None of this would have happened without two people who took what I saw as a huge risk to show a short film about animals texting each other in Piazza Grande as the first short film by a living artist to be screened there. I spent the day with Mac at his house and talked music, Elvis and life. Besides being a country star himself Mac His early work writing for Elvis Presley produced the hits Memories, In the Ghetto, Dont Cry Daddy, and A Little Less Conversation.
