Gestational Diabetes The first time I had to do the prick at home, it wasn’t pretty... 😅 It is bad enough to have a phobia of needles, it’s worse when you have to do it on yourself. I pricked 3 times and couldn’t get enough blood out. And then I started crying. So my good old husband decided to practice on his own fingers until he could figure out how to do it like a pro, before he pricked my little finger. #forbetterorforworse Pricked again this morning with no dramas 💪🏼 4 times a day, should get easier once I get used to it. Pose. You dont get it. Its all very well talking about bodies that change, about shapes and silhouettes. Conversations about expansions and spread, but I wonder, have you ever lived in a body so fat that people stopped and stared? So big that you couldnt get through doorways? I remember being in a dark bacement when my wheelchair services tech told me I was so fat he couldnt make me a wheelchair to fit. And the time, after being told my swallow was unsafe, my Gastroentorologist told me I was so fat he would never fit a feeding tube, ever. I remember the shame of waiting for specialist lifting equipment, the glances across wards when it was time to turn me. These posts I see circulating again of late are fucking exhausting. Beautiful, thin, white women, often well toned, bronzed and hairless make cute videos of theyre poochy belly when they turn in a certain way. Weve all see them before, this kind of bullshit body positivity that is the antipitist of why marginalised bodies are no longer safe in this (so called) community. If you subscribe to that. If youre here to feel better about your little bit of back fat, please go. I just cant. I want to see radical. I want to see people like me, I want to see not like me, I want to see all the bodies Ill never see anywhere else. I want my Explore page to be filled with outspoken fat activists. I want raw and real. This space is built on me sharing my pain, darkness, the traumas Ive survived, almost all rooted in my body. This is a space where people whove been hidden in the darkness, outcast to the fringes because of their physicality can find at least some fucking solidarity. - Friend of mine learned the hard way not to use an angle grinder for cutting wood and the importance of wearing safety gloves. Lucky result: he only got his extensor pollicis brevis (one of the tendons responsible for indicating everythings okay), without compromising major blood vessels or bones.

I was once at a party, naked and free bleeding. A man politely said to me, “hey, I think you’ve got blood on your leg”. I looked him dead in the eye, reached between my legs, grabbed the blood, and marked it across my face like war paint. Then I started laughing.
