Twenty-one years ago when I first saw this little house at 2930 Chariot Ln., it was just a house on a corner lot. Nothing super special just a house that we could afford and that had room for our family; a mom and dad and four daughters. However, this little house became a home. A home where love lived and children grew and tears where sometimes shed and laughter was loud, where boys came to pick up their dates, where first kisses took place and broken hearts were mended with hugs and half gallons of Blue Bell Ice cream. Where goldfish lived a week or a day. Where pets were loved and lost too. Where marks were made on the garage wall to record the milestones of growth. Sometimes this home held sickness or recovery from long painful surgeries. This home heard the words I met a boy and I’m getting married, four times. Countless celebrations were had in this home from birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, girl’s nights in, Mocktale Parties, graduation parties and a baby shower. In countries like England, where young Black boys - irregardless of sexuality - are disproportionately impacted by school exclusions, where the prison population is full of Black men and where mental health services for Black people are increasingly rare, how are we as queer Black people and queer people of colour acknowledging and showing solidarity with our presumably heterosexual Black brothers? • Cathy J. Cohen’s seminal essay “Punks, Bulldaggers and Welfare Queens” cautions us against a queer politics that does not include those whose sexuality may be different to ours. She writes, “My concern is centred on those individuals who consistently activate only one characteristic of their identity, or a single perspective of consciousness, to organise their politics, rejecting any recognition of the multiple and intersecting systems of power that largely dictate our life chances.” • And so my conversation today is with Ben Hurst, who is doing transformative work with men and boys around the country, helping them understand feminism, intersectionality and masculinity. Hello Earthlings :
Like so many self-employed/freelance professionals, I’m thinking of how best to utilise my time right now to create new work and an income from home. Lately, my work has taken on a slightly more spiritual and philosophical quality, which is an extension of my recent life experiences. So, today, I begin a new photo project entitled, ‘Homemade Love Letters’. This project is as much for each of you as it is for myself. Considering that the businesses that support my artistic practice are closed (film processing/printing lab and local transport systems), I am creating unique and personal artworks at home for anyone interested—for anyone in need of a little love (we all are, in one way or another). If you would like one, please DM me or write to me at kushwah.vikram@gmail.com
I will then take a photograph for you (only for you), print it on half of an A4 sheet, and on the other half, I will write something personal for you. This could be something I’m thinking of while taking the picture or even about the current situation. You could also write something to me and I could respond to it; you can ask or say anything you want. Here’s an artwork I created today as an example. Again, the artwork I create for you will never be reproduced for anybody else, meaning it’s a limited edition of only one!

The price of an artwork is £20 for within the UK and £25 for anywhere else in the world.

We are so excited to reopen AMEND, continuing from March dates postponed due to the coronavirus. These images were captured from last weeks performance at the Schindler House. Performances will continue on September 19th and 26th at 2 pm, 3 pm, and 4 pm. The performances are free and open to the public. Due to a very limited capacity, we have sold out, but we ask that you join the waitlist by selecting your preferences on our website. It is likely that a good amount of waitlisted visitors will be able to see the show.  All visitors are required to wear a mask. Visitation will occur on an RSVP-basis, with 10 audience members attending each performance. Visitors will view the performance from outside, observing social distancing measures. -- An exhibition and series of four performances by multi-disciplinary artist Chris Emile, AMEND explores Black male identity through movement, cinema, sculpture and sound. Dua duanya mindblowing,, di bagian pertama, Dia memberikan statement, hanya Satu yang baik, yaitu Allah saja,, ketahuilah, manusia dapat melakukan kebaikan, tetapi kebaikan relatif bukan kebaikan sejati,, bahkan kebaikan manusia tidak sempurna,, karena bisa punya maksud tertentu, balas budi, dll. Kebaikan sejati hanya Allah yang bisa membuatnya,, bagian kedua, Yesus membahas tentang bagaimana masuk ke dalam kekekalan,, kalo d baca di ayat 18-20,, perbuatan yang dilakukan itu hanyalah sebagian dari hukum Allah, bukan seluruhny,, itu adalah bagian kedua hukum taurat yang mengatur hubungan dengan manusia,, dan bagian kedua hukum kasih. . 4. Six years ago, against most everyones advice, we began negotiating on a dilapidated property that had been abandoned decades ago. Nestled at the foot of the Gutturu Mannu mountain chain, Is Aresus was a cluster of ruins and overgrowth. Eventually, with the help and sweat and dedication of local architects Casciu/Rango, we made it our home. Were only halfway through the project, and so it was an honor to discover that our headquarters was the winner of the National Institute of Architecture (In/Arch) Prize for Best Project by Young Architects developed in the region of Sardinia over the last five years. In their elegant and succinct explanation, the judges write that this project through a contemporary interpretation of the themes of the territorys tradition [...proposes...] to requalify and simultaneously confer new meaning on the typical rural architecture of Santadi. i never went to camp as a kid, but every summer for the past three years, ive looked forward to packing up my car and driving out of range for four days of running and climbing til blissful exhaustion with a handful of dedicated athletes and friends. . moving through canopies of changing aspens that give way to sprawling meadows and alpine lakes is magical, yet so is the miracle of everything my body does to take me there. . being a part of the coaching support team is always humbling for me because as much as running is technical, its also deeply personal. for some of us, its a spiritual pursuit too. . this summer has brought with it lots of opportunity for change and growth, and i think only time will tell how well ive shown up for any of it. in the meantime, im going to do my best to approach it all with arms as wide open as theyll go - especially when theyre tired. . #embracethespace #getoutside #trailrunning #traillove #naturalbeauty #sheadventures - @kristepeoples on Instagram
