Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a feminist hero lovingly dubbed Notorious RBG, has died of cancer. She was 87. Ginsburg championed women’s rights — first as a trailblazing civil rights attorney who methodically chipped away at discriminatory practices, then as the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court, and finally as an unlikely pop culture icon — had battled cancer for more than a decade. No sleep. Damn. Second night in a row for me
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the loss of my father, Richard Holtz, Sr., who passed away July 28th after a brief bout with pneumonia and complications from COVID-19. My dad shared the family business with so many people, including my sisters and me. He learned from his father, and believed the best way to teach others the business was through kindness and thoughtful training. He also believed in treating everyone he came into contact with as a member of our extended family. That ethos served him well as a businessman, and also showed his character and inspired others to behave the same. It is because of his leadership, with my mom Geny at his side, that H.J. Holtz & Son continues to serve the community as well as include members on our team who are excited to learn and advance in their own careers. He regarded the craft of painting and wallpapering as a profession, and worked to instill that philosophy in our company and beyond. Dad was a member of the Richmond Chapter of the PCA, Middle Atlantic Council, and the National PCA organization for more than 50 years. He held executive committee offices on both the chapter and council levels and was a friend and mentor to countless painting contractors, crew members, associates, and industry leaders. While it is hard to imagine this company without my parents, we are so thankful for their leadership, their instruction, and their wholehearted support. We will do all we can to live out their legacy and keep H.J. Holtz & Son true to the goals of honesty and quality workmanship while regarding everyone as family. Rick - @hjholtzandson on Instagram

Sharing from my sweet husband, Ron: Thursday evening, March 7, at 92, Dad went to be with Jesus in his heavenly home. He was a great dad, loved his family, his neighbors, his co-workers, his community, state and country. He was a man who said Why not?, rather than I can not. He loved nature, and always marveled at Gods creation in fields of wheat, the sweep of the land, the movement of trees in the breeze and the flight of the red tailed hawk. He was curious and adventurous, and loved to walk to that edge of poking a sleeping bear. Music was a lifetime love for him, and he especially enjoyed playing the piano. His life was filled with action, travel, service and accomplishment. He felt for the underdog, and championed causes for good. His vision carried him to many great places. He was a KSU Wildcat for life..and loved football through times both lean and good. He was a grand competitor- in sports, business, politics and life. Dad made the most of life, and certainly seized the day, every day. He will be missed, but he is no doubt in full pursuit of the glory he will enjoy forever with the King. Visitation is Tuesday March 19 from 5-7 p.m. The Celebration of Life Service is Wednesday, March 20 at 11 am. Both events are at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. The petitioners stated: “BMGF, PATH and WHO were criminally negligent trialing the vaccines on a vulnerable, uneducated and under-informed population, school administrators, students and their parents who were not provided informed consent or advised of potential adverse effects or required to be monitored post-vaccination.” Furthermore, though absent from most mainstream U.S. media outlets, the Economic Times of India published their report in August 2014, stating that young tribal girls were tested with HPV vaccines. This involved not a handful of children, but 16,000 individuals in Andhra Pradesh, India, where they were given the Gardasil vaccine. KP Narayana Kumar reported that within a month of receiving the vaccine, many of the children fell ill, and by 2010, five of them had died. Another two children were reported to have died in Vadodara, Gujarat, where another 14,000 tribal children were vaccinated with another brand of the HPV vaccine, Cervarix, manufactured by GlaxoSmitheKline (GSK), who incidentally, has been accused of dumping polio virus into a Belgium river. Judge Nelson served as a Pierce County Superior Court Judge, Department 13, from January 2001 to September 18, 2020. Judge Nelson was born and raised in Tacoma. Throughout Judge Nelson’s judicial career, juvenile court was her passion. This passion led to many years of dedicated service with the Superior Court Judges Association’s CASA Board of Governors and to her role as Chief Judge of the Juvenile Court Improvement Program. Judge Kathryn J. Nelson’s compassion, work ethic, and commitment to the rule of law made her a highly valued member of Pierce County Superior Court, where she was praised by colleagues as a consensus builder. Pretty cool to see this photo in today’s NJ Star Ledger with a piece by former NJ Justice Peter Verniero about why we should all honor her. His recollection of her from this event: “She spoke plainly but powerfully. She was not one for engaging in small talk. She was one for engaging in “big talk” — for furthering bedrock principles like equal justice under the law.” I like to think RBG and my grandfather were kindred spirits. When Ruth Bader Ginsburg came to be interviewed for the Supreme Court vacancy Bill had to fill, she was told that it would be a casual interview on a Sunday afternoon. Bill knew that she was coming so he got out of his Sunday afternoon football-watching clothes and put on a suit and tie, and she came in very casually dressed. She was a little embarrassed about coming to The White House and seeing the president when she was not properly attired. But they hit it off. They had an extraordinary conversation about the Constitution and the role of the courts. It was a masterclass. Ruth Bader Ginsburg was someone I had looked up to for a long time—as a young lawyer, and throughout my time practicing and teaching law. She believed that the Constitution had to be interpreted as providing for the equal rights of men and women. She understood there were certain assumptions in the law that favored or disfavored men as well as women, and had the brilliant insight that she could demonstrate that lack of equality by litigating on behalf of men. Her great gift was not only being a brilliant lawyer, litigator, and judge, but also a warm and empathetic human being. She felt the loss of respect and rights that her clients felt. And she felt compelled to try to right those wrongs. This is a devastating personal loss for so many. But more than that, it is a devastating loss for our country. Her memory is already a blessing. Our hearts are heavy as we announced today the passing of our beloved Mayor Ron Smith. Mayor Smith courageously battled pancreatic cancer for almost two years. He was officially sworn in as the 25th Mayor of Sparks on November 13, 2018. Mayor Smith leaves behind his beloved wife Karen of 40 years, four children and nine grandchildren. Our deepest condolences go out to his family. Today City Attorney Herrera filed civil lawsuits against 28 known drug dealers in the Tenderloin to combat the open-air drug dealing that is plaguing the neighborhood. San Francisco is experiencing an opioid epidemic, and this year weve already had 81 drug overdose deaths in the Tenderloin alone. The injunctions filed today target specific dealers who come from around the Bay Area to sell hard drugs like cocaine, fentanyl and heroin to San Francisco residents. The lawsuits would prohibit them from entering the Tenderloin. Violations would have civil and criminal consequences. While this step is not a silver bullet to fix this problem entirely, it gives law enforcement officers another tool to keep Tenderloin residents safe. The kids, parents, seniors, workers and business owners of this neighborhood have suffered too much at the hands of these dealers. Enough is enough. - @sfcityattorney on Instagram
