Setting and keeping eyes on your goals. This has been something I have been working towards since my injury, nearly nine years ago. A solo night out in the forest. Seems like nothing, right? But, to me, it has been everything. It signifies true independence - to be able to operate without help, and I have been chasing that since my life changed so drastically. No-one there to help pick you up when you fall down a hill, and no-one to get your leg for you when it also flies down a hill, without you attached to it. Admittedly, I wasnt in the outback, or the arctic, or in the middle of an ocean. But, this is a positive step towards more freedom from injury. Now thats out of the way, its time to plan some slightly longer, more challenging micro-adventures. Climbing in the mountains is always a good time, especially when it’s with a friend you haven’t seen in years. This past weekend Jack met me in the Big Horns and we were able to complete the First Free Ascent of a great route up in the Lost Twin Lakes cirque. The route was established a few seasons ago by two of our good buddies, Chris and Tony. WOULD YOU? 🥶 • • 1. Would you cross a glacier River in Alaska? 2. Would you do it naked? • • So before you answer… let me tell you what led up to this picture and what was involved. • • This was on the second day of my 40 km hike through Crow Pass in Alaska and I was told that there was a river crossing… BUT I did not know how big or deep it really was. • regardless… I was looking forward to it as I envisioned it being a highlight of my trip as an experience that only a few people in the world have done. • The excitement of the crossing started once we got to a flat level and you could begin to hear the river and feel the moisture in the air. • Once I got to the river… It was game on and I was the first cross .... I was excited! • • Looking at the river… And analyzing the river… You have no idea how deep it is and then you begin to debate… How much clothes do I keep on, what do I take off because having wet shoes and clothes in Alaska with no fire could be deadly!!! 😳 • • You might think to yourself… Andre I don’t think taking everything off was necessary .... well .... I was wearing water shoes 🤷♂️😂 • • I’m surprised @alexlvanmeter took such an amazing shot ... considering he likely had his eyes closed when he took it 😂😂😂😂 #allforthegram • • I’ll explain the experience… Walking in to the river excited and naïve was to my advantage… I didn’t know what to expect. • Yes I knew it was a glacier River and yes I knew it was cold and I knew the bottom would be rocky and slippery but that’s about it. • 1st step: not bad at all 4th step: feet are warm 7th step: burning cold 11th step: numbing 15th step: can’t feel anything I had no choice but to focus and take every step with precaution knowing that if you fall you are F**ked!!! • I volunteered to start a fire to warm people up once they crossed. • The most shocking thing out of this experience.... was the fact that by the time I dried my feet and put my socks and boots back on and started the fire… my feet were warm and I never needed to sit by the fire and heat them up. • • This trip was all about pushing my limits, physically and mentally and I definitely learned a lot about myself. would you ever? - @whatthefjall on Instagram

But for the Rai people of Nepal, gathering the sweet stuff involves a death-defying climb on home made ladders and a four hour mission to extract the precious nectar. To make matters worse, the daredevil hunters come under attack from swarms of the worlds largest bee while perching 250ft up the side of a cliff. The honey seekers fashion ladders out of braided bamboo to access their prize, the toxic rhododendron honey produced by the Apis laboriosa bee. • With no safety equipment and just a long stick to retrieve the honeycomb, they climb to dizzying heights until a nest has been sighted. Bostaden fortsätter med trygghetsarbetet på våra områden. På Östra Ersboda har våra fastighetsskötare tagit ner träd, buskar och sly för att förändra de områden eller ytor som upplevs mörka, skumma och osäkra. På så sätt ökar vi tryggheten för de boende. Senare under september månad kommer ytterligare trygghetsåtgärder. Då sker såväl den årliga kontrollen av belysningen samt beskärning av den intilliggande växtligheten. Friends shouldn’t let friends wear Poly-Pro 😅 Why?? Well - first it stinks - like horribly. Why would you want to have to be behind your friend while being active and have to smell that. 🤣 Most of all, while washing, the synthetic fibers release micro pollutants into our water supply - NOT COOL !!!! Both @the_last_mohican_from_stehekin & @sophiabea know this 👏🙏 Last Christmas they both came to me and ordered shirts for each other - luckily they gave each other the presents early, I didn’t have to hold the secret that long. 😆 Holidays are coming, and market options will be limited this year. Voici Philippe Voghel-Robert! 👌 Finissant de la technique du tourisme d’aventure à Gaspé en 2010, Philippe travaille en plein-air avec des jeunes depuis 2008. D’abord au camp de vacances Kéno comme moniteur, instructeur, guide d’expédition, puis, depuis 4 ans, à l’école secondaire du Mont Saint-Sacrement comme technicien en plein-air. Il a initié plusieurs centaines de jeunes aux rudiments du plein air, du canot, du kayak et de l’expédition. Il a lui-même été initié aux paysages arctiques lors d’une traversée en vélo de la Belgique jusqu’au Cap Nord en Norvège, dans un périple de plusieurs milliers de kilomètres. Il rêve de revoir ces paysages depuis! Cest pourquoi il a sauté sans hésiter dans cette occasion unique de se plonger au plus profond de la nordicité et des grands espaces canadiens.
