This Sunday the 1st of March will be the last day of trading. . . We never like to give up, but things just didn’t work out the way we were hoping to. We threw in everything we had to try and get this up and running but unfortunately the shop has got the better of us. It’s just not sustainable for us to keep operating a shop right now, so for us to still do what we do best, we need to let our beloved Northcote head quarters up. . . It’s been such an amazing experience and journey, a lot of ups and downs, so many lessons learnt. It’s definitely the toughest decision we have had to make, but we had to try and do it, but timing was just not right for us at the moment. . . We partnered with two Boys and Girls Club locations during the first two cycles of this mobile recording project held in 2018/19 and again in 2019/20. The Boys and Girls Club is an ideal partner for this project since the two locations are strategically placed on the south and north sides of Jane-Finch. As a result, the program is accessible to participants from both ends of the community, potentially creating bridges amongst the two. Flavours: The Mint Club have a set menu for Shisha flavours. The prices start at £15 and is no more than £20, not unless you start to add fruit head, ice pipes etc. It is worth noting as there was a confusion, that they only use Khalil Mamoon Shisha’s. For Shisha I had asked for a recommendation; they gave me Frozen Blueberry with Frozen Lychee with a touch of Irn Bru. I had originally asked to try out a new flavour and it smelt amazing, but when I smoked it, it wasn’t for me I asked for a new Shisha altogether. They do give disposable pipes and the Shisha was decent an lasted the time I was there. Price: The pricing of food is in par with places in the area, the most expensive item being the Large Pizza with Stuff crust which is £11.95p For food I ordered MC Legend Burger which is a 6oz beef patty, for Mocktail Passion Mist. The food was the right amount and was a decent meal. Overall: This was my second visit to The Mint Club, I saw a not so positive review about this place so I decided to turn up on boxing night. I asked a male friend to join me to have a low-key night out underdressed and no tagging etc, just as a regular customer to see if my experience is the same. As we entered we were greeted within two minutes, they were starting to get busy, they gave us a choice of seating as at that point there were some empty spaces, handed us the menu and said we will be back in 5 minutes so we can decide what to order. I decided to get indecisive, eventually I asked for a recommendation it was pineapple crush and something else, so nice. On that particular night they were fully staffed and considering it got really busy the service was good. I revisited yesterday and I went literally when they opened, so staff were busy preparing and cleaning getting ready for the night ahead. As we first told you about last fall, an Amazon series called Panic, based on the 2014 novel by Lauren Oliver, is being shot in the Austin area. Shooting was originally set to wrap in March but after a break for the pandemic, they’re now finishing up filming. In these mad times we’re lucky on Church Road to have numerous businesses and business owners that support us, calm our fears, share theres and generally have our back. This is a shout out to Crystal Palace Pantry. Despite us opening a cafe next door to his Usain has been very kind to us. He goes out of his way to help us when we ask, which is a lot, an embarrassing amount considering he’s got his own place to run. Im not Paul Newman, but just a guy who decided to put himself as the face of a product. I wanted to build a brand that people would come to know and have a relationship with! Something to talk about when enjoying my products. I wanted to build a brand that told a story, a brand that people could relate to, a journey that they could follow and even perhaps inspire someone along the way. I remember when I started grade 7 at Courtland, my family and I lived in the East Ward. I walked past this corner every single day. At that age, I had no idea what the future held for me. I know I was completed lost and the ability to one day have my face on a window of a store was not even a sparkle in my eye. I remember fighting through so many things at that age and maybe that’s what still drives me so hard today. The moral of this story is know where you came from ALWAYS STAY HUMBLE AND KIND and dont be scared to throw your face on a jar, or a store window for that matter.
