Professional rally driver Ken Block brought his need for speed to Vegas this week and hitched a ride with the Thunderbirds. Ken made the transition from land speed to airspeed look effortless. I was impressed that Ken could hang with the best in conversations about high speed aerodynamics and supersonic flight and when it came time to get in the cockpit he handled the flight as well as he did the flight theory. Ken completed the entire profile and made it look easy pulling 9 G’s. Needless to say Ken impressed us and I’m willing to bet 🎲 Ken was impressed with the Viper’s 29k lbs of F-16 thrust! Was hesitant to post until all test flights went well and after 10 hours of flight time, all checks are good! ✈️ The only issue on the first flight was the pitot tube and static port was backwards, window latch didn’t want to stay closed, and needed some rigging adjustments. Not bad right? ✈️ It’s finally rigged and flying hands off. We are easing into anything too aggressive until we know everything is good. We have visited several times over the years, and enjoy going here for the outdoor space and lack of crowds, even prior to Covid. The boys love looking at all of the airplanes. ✈️ The Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum is the only museum in the world primarily dedicated to United States Marine Corps (USMC) aviation. ✈️ Leatherneck is slang that refers to the leather collars once worn by marines, and hence the term Flying Leatherneck refers to Marine aviators. 😷 Many changes have been made to the museum to make it safe for visitors and staff. There are temperature checks, a dedicated entrance and exit, one way flow through the exhibit and limited capacity. First of all, wow- thank you for the outpouring of love and support, we never dreamed we’d reach so many people. We really appreciate everyone reaching out to us about this unfortunate situation. We’re shocked at how much support we’ve gotten and are truly grateful by everyone’s offers and well wishes. We’re trying to respond to everyone who has asked questions, but there are so many it is hard to keep up. Many people have asked about a fundraiser of some sort in order to repair the DC-3s. We are humbled at how quickly people were willing to offer assistance. These are very kind offers, however we are really just looking for information and awareness, not for money or donations. We have never been people to accept charity, and especially not in the condition our world is in right now. So many people have lost their jobs, had hours cut back, and are struggling with the effects of COVID-19 that we could never consider accepting money. Both Sid and his son Chris are licensed A&P IA mechanics, so they are able to fix this damage over time. Sid will rebuild the flight controls that were wrecked, but it is a major set back. Academy Model Kit 🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹🔸🔹 🔰Messerschmitt Bf 109 adalah sebuah pesawat bermesin tunggal buatan Jerman yang mulai dipakai sejak tahun 1930, dan didesain oleh seorang insinyur Jerman, Willy Messerschmitt sebagai jawaban atas permintaan dari Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) untuk sebuah pesawat konsep masa depan yang mendukung akan kekuatan Luftwaffe. Desain Bf 109 dimulai oleh Bayerische Flugzeugwerke pada akhir 1933, setelah adanya pernyataan dari Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM) yang membutuhkan pesawa tempur monoplane untuk menggantikan Arado Ar 68 dan Heinkel He 51. Kebutuhan ini sebenarnya tidaklah terlalu penting, tetapi RLM percaya bahwa dengan adanya evaluasi kompetitif dan dengan waktu yang ada maka dapat dilakukan pengembangan secara terus menerus, sehingga pada saat dibutuhkan nanti akan ada pesawat hebat yang telah siap untuk dioperasikan. Beberapa perusahaan mengajukan proposal, tetapi hanya dua Bayerische Flugzeugwerke dan Heinkel yang dipilih untuk melakukan pengembangan dan evaluasi, dengan masing-masing membuat 10 contoh. He 112 milik Heinkel-lah yang pertama kali terbang (pada musim panas 1935) tetapi Bf 109-lah (yang pertama kali terbang pada pertengahan September 1935) yang dibuat dalam jumlah yang sangat besar. Anehnya kedua pesawat purwarupa ini bermesin sama yaitu mesin in-line Rolls-Royce Kestrel, sama seperti mesin in-line Junker Jumo 210. 🔰Versi produksi pertama pesawat ini yang beroperasi dengan Luftwaffe adalah Bf 109B-1 bermesin 473.2 kW Jumo 210D, diikuti dengan 109B-2 dengan mesin 477 kW Jumo 210E dan kemudian 499 kW Jumo 210G. Pesawat tempur berkursi tungal dengan bahan konstruksi besi Bf-109 adalah monoplane bersayap terpasang rendah pada bodi pesawat. Roda pendaratan utama dapat ditarik masuk, tetapi sebagian besar versinya mempunyai roda belakang yang tidak dapat ditarik masuk. Throwback to 2015 - 3,2m aaaand 3,6kg RTF ✈️ this was my first big build and the first plane I was building every single part by hand. The whole design is done by me and this is all wood! I was proud as hell and this was such a big deal for me and this made me start to overthink the classic building techniques of model aircraft because I wanted to have something super light weight! Even the costs of building this was super low, only about 350€ for the whole plane, which was a lot considering I was a stundent going to school earning no money at all. This project got me and this was the start of Löbair! The flying characteristics were amazing due to the low weight. Looking forward to new projects ! See previous post for video and explanation of what’s going on and why this was the shittiest mail I’ve ever had a few years back.... 1.) Clean your cutaway cables regularly, especially if you jump in the desert. 2.) Use an RSL/skyhook (I jump with a skyhook now. I was still wary back then using an RSL with a high performance canopy, worried about my reserve coming out when I was on my back spinning) 3.) Practice finding your handles with them having been dislodged out of their velcro, with your eyes closed. 4.) Your cutaway is not complete until the cables are cleared and both risers have detached. 5.) Don’t waste time messing around with a malfunction, or even ‘a problem’ you’re not sure you can fix. Your reserve works. Use it. If I had tried to mess with my main for 5 more seconds I’d be dead. 5.) The biggest thing - ALTITUDE IS YOUR FRIEND. I have always deployed my canopy at 3,500ft which, ironically is 500ft above the recommended minimum pull height for jumpers with very low jump numbers. My theory is, I’d rather sacrifice 5 seconds of freefall for 5 extra seconds of sorting my shit out if something goes wrong on deployment. That extra 1000ft saved my life on this occasion. NB - I personally went on to perform two handed cutaways and reserve deployments from that point on and have had 5 boring malfunctions/ cutaways and reserve deployments since. I am in no way suggesting this is the best method for everyone, and DO NOT CHANGE YOUR DRILLS without discussing the pros and cons with your instructor, mentor, or another experienced skydiver. Im excited to announce a partnership that will see a brand-new Van’s RV-14 being built and flown -- becoming the official aircraft of Flight Chops. This relationship will focus on creating new video content, telling the stories and documenting the experiences of building a Van’s RV-14 aircraft and then following the airplane on its flying adventures. I’ve been carrying around a dog-eared photo of a Van’s Aircraft RV-7 in my wallet since 2001. Discovering that such a capable aircraft was both accessible and affordable was inspiring! In a press event held today September 2, 2020, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department announced the return of the CL-415 Bombardier “Super Scoopers” to Van Nuys Airport. The Super Scoopers have been leased to the County of Los Angeles from Quebec, Canada for the region’s fire season. Agora, mais surpreso que ele fiquei eu ao saber que ele está fazendo uns brinquedos/obra de arte e não está conseguindo vender! Ernani foi o professor mais valioso que tive na marcenaria e na vida, uma pessoa encantadora, amável e amigo. Me recebeu por anos em sua casa como seu aluno. Um cara capaz de fazer tudo e fazer tudo elevado a perfeição. E tá aí o trabalho de Ernani, quem tiver interesse me procura, ele vai ficar feliz de saber o valor da arte que faz. E quem sabe consigo convencer ele de entrar para as “redes sociais”. ** Sobre os aviões: “O “design” dos aviões foi inspirado em aviões de verdade. Não são réplicas, são brinquedos e por isso são muito simplificados. No entanto as proporções de envergadura/comprimento/altura são bem próximas dos aviões reais. O monomotor é baseado no CURTISS P40, avião de caça da segunda guerra. Entrou em operação em 1938 e teve papel importante nas forças armadas aliadas, operando na no leste europeu, Ásia, Mediterrâneo, sudoeste do Pacífico e China.
