Solidarité Liban : la Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France attribue une aide exceptionnelle d’urgence pour accompagner l’Hôtel Dieu de France – Université Saint Joseph de Beyrouth. Suite à la double explosion qui a eu lieu le mardi 4 août 2020 à Beyrouth, la ville fait face à une situation sanitaire catastrophique dans un pays déjà en pleine crise économique, où manquent les produits de première nécessité et où près de 50% de la population se situe en dessous du seuil de pauvreté. La Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris-Hôpitaux de France, présidée par Brigitte Macron, a attribué une aide exceptionnelle d’urgence de 500 000 euros pour accompagner l’Hôtel Dieu de France, le centre hospitalier universitaire à but non lucratif de l’Université Saint Joseph de Beyrouth, qui a immédiatement déclenché son « plan désastre » et mobilisé l’ensemble de ses équipes malgré les dégâts matériels très importants subis à l’hôpital. ➡️ L’aide de la Fondation permettra notamment le financement de matériel individuel de protection, d’autant plus indispensable dans la situation de pandémie Covid-19, mais aussi, de médicaments et de matériel médical et para-médical de base : fils de suture, cathéters, prothèses orthopédiques, prothèses ophtalmologiques. Kamienica Wolfa Krongolda przy ul. Złotej 83 w Warszawie. Pierwotnie budynek był bogato zdobiony, klatkę schodową wyłożono białym marmurem, a żeliwne balustrady były ręcznie wykonane. Po wojnie usunięto ocalałą sztukatrię. Na początku lat 60. zerwano kamienne i metalowe balkony, usunięto zdobione, ręcznie kute wrota bramy. Szarym tynkiem zamurowano także linie boniowania. Mieszkania podzielono na mniejsze. Budynek był nazywany Pekinem ze względu na przeludnienie. O symbolicznych miejscach Woli dowiecie się na wystawie Przemiany. Krajobraz Woli po 1989 roku. Registros das transformações urbanas do Rio de Janeiro As fotografias que apresentamos hoje mostram as obras de abertura da avenida Presidente Vargas, no centro do Rio de Janeiro, no início da década de 1940. A intervenção tinha o objetivo de melhorar as condições de circulação e saneamento da então capital federal. Com quatro quilômetros de extensão e 80 metros de largura, a monumental avenida foi inaugurada em 1944, ligando, numa linha reta, o centro da cidade à zona norte. As fotos deste post estão contidas no fundo Hélio de Brito, conjunto doado ao Arquivo Nacional em 1999 que reúne documentos do #acervo pessoal do #engenheiro civil Hélio Alves de Brito (1902-1978). Muitas dessas fotografias são registros de obras que provocaram grandes transformações urbanas na cidade entre o final da década de 1930 e início da década de 1940. Hélio de Brito participou ativamente desses empreendimentos. Ele ocupou os cargos de diretor de obras da prefeitura do Distrito Federal, em 1938, e de engenheiro-chefe do Serviço Técnico Especial da Comissão Construtora da Avenida Presidente Vargas e Esplanada do Castelo, entre 1938 e 1946. Hari ini, tepat 55 tahun lalu, pada Kamis sekira Pukul 10.00 WIB, Jenderal (Anumerta) Ahmad Yani, Panglima Angkatan Darat RI meresmikan jembatan terpanjang di Asia Tenggara pada masa itu, dengan nama Jembatan Bung Karno. Jembatan sepanjang 1.177 meter ini membentang kokoh diatas Sungai Musi, Palembang. Proyek prestisius kebanggaan Bangsa Indonesia kala itu, akhirnya selesai dibangun dan siap untuk digunakan. . Penekanan sirine tanda selesainya jembatan ini dilakukan oleh Jend. Ahmad Yani didampingi Gubernur Sumatera Selatan, Brigjen. TNI H. Abu Yasid Bustomi atas nama Presiden Republik Indonesia yang terhalang hadir. Kemudian sore harinya, Jend. Ahmad Yani bertolak dari Lapangan Terbang Talang Betutu, Palembang menuju Lapangan Terbang Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta. . . Tragis, pada malamnya beliau diculik dan ditembak mati oleh pasukan Tjakrabirawa, sebelum akhirnya pada dini hari, Jumat 1 Oktober 1965 terkubur bersama 6 perwira lainnya di Sumur Lubang Buaya dalam tragedi pengkhianatan G30S/PKI. Setelah keluarnya Surat Perintah Sebelas Maret (Supersemar) 1966, berakhirnya masa Orde Lama dan dimulainya masa Orde Baru yang dipimpin oleh Presiden Soeharto, maka Jembatan Bung Karno diubah nama menjadi Jembatan Ampera yang merupakan kepanjangan dari Amanat Penderitaan Rakyat. . Untuk mengenang sang jenderal yang gugur setelah meresmikan jembatan ini, ruas jalan protokol sisi selatan Jembatan Ampera diberi nama Jalan Jend. The Lancaster Soldiers and Sailors Monument was formally unveiled and dedicated on this day - July 4, 1874. The monuments original intention was to pay tribute to Lancastrian Union soldiers killed during the American Civil War. However, today the Soldiers and Sailors Monument also represents those who have served in subsequent American military conflicts.🇺🇸 A statue of a robed woman at the top is known as the Genius of Liberty. The Genius of Liberty holds a drawn sword and a shield. Her head is crowned with stars. She faces north which, according to legend, allows her to turn her back on the former Confederate States of America, which were defeated in the war. The Soldiers and Sailors Monument also stands on the exact spot where the Second Continental Congress met during the American Revolutionary War on September 27, 1777, in the old Lancaster Courthouse. STREETS OF KARACHI As I walk out of my apartments, The air full of dust and smoke tingles my nose, Women carrying shopping bags in one hand, And the other hand keeping their children close. Pillion riding banned, yet you can see boys getting off from the bike in pairs. And suited men crossing the busy road. As I turn around the corner I see, Thela of pani puri, chai, french fries, bun kabab and all the other street food. People eating and enjoying the moment. And then a whiff of jasmine hit my nose, As a young boy carrying gajre, Comes towards me in order to sell them. I buy a pair of them and witness the sincerest smile on the young childs face. Just beside me, in a narrow lane, I see young boys and girls playing pittu and hopscotch. When I move forward I cant help but laugh, As the man chases the bus cause as usual It was never on time and was leaving early. As the sun was beginning to set, The traffic increased along with it. But theres a young boy helping the old man Carrying the load to his house and I smile. Out of all the cities I ever visited Happy to know that I dwell here in Karachi. Where roads and people are busy as heck yet, If you call once theyll come running to help. गंगा तट पर बसी काशी बड़ी पुरानी नगरी है। इतने प्राचीन नगर संसार में बहुत नहीं हैं। वाराणसी का मूल नगर काशी था। पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, काशी नगर की स्थापना हिन्दू भगवान शिव ने लगभग ५००० वर्ष पूर्व की थी, जिस कारण ये आज एक महत्त्वपूर्ण तीर्थ स्थल है। ये हिन्दुओं की पवित्र सप्तपुरियों में से एक है। स्कंद पुराण, रामायण एवं महाभारत सहित प्राचीनतम ऋग्वेद सहित कई हिन्दू ग्रन्थों में नगर का उल्लेख आता है। सामान्यतः वाराणसी शहर को कम से कम ३००० वर्ष प्राचीन तो माना ही जाता है। नगर मलमल और रेशमी कपड़ों, इत्रों, हाथी दाँत और शिल्प कला के लिये व्यापारिक एवं औद्योगिक केन्द्र रहा है। आधुनिक काशी राज्य वाराणसी का भूमिहार ब्राह्मण राज्य बना है। भारतीय स्वतंत्रता उपरांत अन्य सभी रजवाड़ों के समान काशी नरेश ने भी अपनी सभी प्रशासनिक शक्तियां छोड़ कर मात्र एक प्रसिद्ध हस्ती की भांति रहना आरंभ किया। वर्तमान स्थिति में ये मात्र एक सम्मानीय उपाधि रह गयी है। काशी नरेश का रामनगर किला वाराणसी शहर के पूर्व में गंगा नदी के तट पर बना हुआ है।काशी नरेश का एक अन्य किला चेत सिंह महल, शिवाला घाट, वाराणसी में स्थित है। यहीं महाराज चेत सिंह को ब्रिटिश अधिकारी ने २०० से अधिक ब्रिटिश सैनिकों के संग घेर कर मार गिराया था।रामनगर किला और इसका संग्रहालय अब बनारस के राजाओं के सम्मान में एक स्मारक बना हुआ है। इसके अलावा १८वीं शताब्दी से ये काशी नरेश का आधिकारिक आवास बना हुआ है। #History #historyofvaranasi #historyofkashi #ghats #shiv #vishnu #brahma #rigveda #mahabharat #ramayana #tulsidas #ramnagar #kashinaresh #varanasi #kashi #benares #varanasi_facts Image source- @reckontalk - @varanasi_facts on Instagram

1858, Mirza Jani Beg, Tomb Thatta. Photograph of Mirza Jani Beg’s tomb at Thatta in Sindh, taken by William Robert Houghton in 1858. This image is part of an album documenting notable tombs at the necropolis at Thatta, which Houghton photographed at the request of the Government of Bombay. Jani Beg was a member of the Tarkhan Dynasty (1554-1591) and the last independent ruler of Sindh before its annexation by the Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1591. He was reinstated as governor of Thatta after his submission and died in c.1599. His mausoleum is an octagonal brick structure with a domed roof in the tradition of Islamic funerary architecture and stands on a terraced platform in a walled enclosure. The tomb is part of a great necropolis, reputedly the largest in the world, which lies on the plateau of the Makli hills, a limestone outcrop to the west of Tatta. The necropolis contains over a million graves, including the mausoleums of Sindh’s rulers. KRI Irian 201 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- KRI Irian was a Sverdlov class cruiser (Project 68-bus) owned by the Indonesian Navy in the 1960s. This type of ship is the last conventional cruiser made for the Soviet Navy, 14 ships completed before Nikita Khrushchev stopped the program because this type of ship was considered ancient with the appearance of missiles (missiles). This photo was taken c 1880s near what is now the area near Calhoun and Lockwood Blvd. It was published in 1893 as part of the twelve-part publication entitled “Art Work of Charleston” published by W.H. Hari ini, tepat 55 tahun lalu, pada Kamis sekira Pukul 10.00 WIB, Jenderal (Anumerta) Ahmad Yani, Panglima Angkatan Darat RI meresmikan jembatan terpanjang di Asia Tenggara pada masa itu, dengan nama Jembatan Bung Karno. Jembatan sepanjang 1.177 meter ini membentang kokoh diatas Sungai Musi, Palembang. Proyek prestisius kebanggaan Bangsa Indonesia kala itu, akhirnya selesai dibangun dan siap untuk digunakan. . Penekanan sirine tanda selesainya jembatan ini dilakukan oleh Jend. Ahmad Yani didampingi Gubernur Sumatera Selatan, Brigjen. TNI H. Abu Yasid Bustomi atas nama Presiden Republik Indonesia yang terhalang hadir. Kemudian sore harinya, Jend. Ahmad Yani bertolak dari Lapangan Terbang Talang Betutu, Palembang menuju Lapangan Terbang Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta. . . Tragis, pada malamnya beliau diculik dan ditembak mati oleh pasukan Tjakrabirawa, sebelum akhirnya pada dini hari, Jumat 1 Oktober 1965 terkubur bersama 6 perwira lainnya di Sumur Lubang Buaya dalam tragedi pengkhianatan G30S/PKI. Setelah keluarnya Surat Perintah Sebelas Maret (Supersemar) 1966, berakhirnya masa Orde Lama dan dimulainya masa Orde Baru yang dipimpin oleh Presiden Soeharto, maka Jembatan Bung Karno diubah nama menjadi Jembatan Ampera yang merupakan kepanjangan dari Amanat Penderitaan Rakyat. . Untuk mengenang sang jenderal yang gugur setelah meresmikan jembatan ini, ruas jalan protokol sisi selatan Jembatan Ampera diberi nama Jalan Jend. Ahmad Yani yang kini membentang dari Kecamatan Jakabaring hingga ke Kecamatan Seberang Ulu II, Kota Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. . Com que dor escreveria Sandra Alvim a palavra demolida - tantas dezenas de vezes em sua monumental Arquitetura religiosa colonial no Rio de Janeiro -, toda vez que trata da igreja de São Pedro dos Clérigos. Traçado primoroso, diz ela, formado pela interseção de arcos de circunferência, resultado de elevado grau de elaboração formal; inestimável documento da incipiente independência e formação da identidade do mestre-de-obras brasileiro em relação à Metrópole, superando as rígidas limitações estéticas lusas; primeira igreja da colônia a ter cobertura em cúpula coroada por zimbório com lanternim. Demolida em 1944. Ficava na velha rua de São Pedro, igualmente atropelada pela abertura da avenida Presidente Vargas. . . Dois anos antes, já tinham sido postas abaixo a pequenina ermida de São Domingos (1706, reconstruída em 1791) e a igreja do Bom Jesus do Calvário, de 1796, todas no caminho da violência poluente, inclemente, que vai da Candelária à Praça da Bandeira. Marine Drive & the automobile, 1953. Archival pic from “Our Bombay,” a Dec. 1953 publication by Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC) in which Prime Minister Nehru wrote: ‘A city, like a house, is not a mere collection of steel and brick, cement and mortar. It is the outward expression of the life of a community’. Marine Drive with 35 consecutive Art Deco sea facing buildings was the road to be on. The automobile brought speed, power, streamlined design, mobility and symbolised both success and affluence in a modern aspirational city. In these pics @karlbhote tells us we see a mix of primarily English and American cars. Convertibles were already falling out of favour, confirmed by only one seen at the bottom right, likely a Sunbeam Talbot drophead coupe. Since this is the pre Fiat Ambassador days, we see mostly foreign cars - majority of which were assembled in India. Ford had large scale assembly operations in Bombay. General Motors had similar operations in Sewri where Buick (retailed by Metro Motors), and Chevrolet cars (retailed by The Bombay Garage), rolled out. Dodge and Plymouth cars were assembled at Premier Automobiles Kurla facility, and retailed by The Bombay Cycle and Motor Agency which still stands at Sandhurst bridge. Across the road were the stunning modern Deco showrooms of Dadajee Dhackjee & Co, agents for Packard and Mercedes-Benz cars, at Shree Pant Bhuvan. The English were represented by Morris cars, sold by the French Motor Car Co. at New Queens Road and Hillman Minx cars were assembled by Automobile Products of India (API) at their Bhandup facility. Austin cars were sold by The Automobile Co. Ltd, also at New Queens Road. Old Delhi street Photograph, Jama Masjid in Background – c1910 History of Jama Masjid : The Masjid-i Jehan Numa (lit. the World-reflecting Mosque or Mosque of the Celestial Sphere; Persian: مسجد جامع دهلی), commonly known as the Jama Masjid of Delhi, is one of the largest mosques in India.It was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656 at a cost of one million rupees, and was inaugurated by Imam Syed Abdul Ghafoor Shah Bukhari from Bukhara, present-day Uzbekistan. The mosque was completed in 1656 AD with three great gates and two 40 metres high minarets constructed with strips of red sandstone and white marble. The courtyard can accommodate more than 25000 people. There are three domes on the terrace which are surrounded by the two minarets. On the floor, a total of 899 black borders are marked for worshippers. The architectural plan of Badshahi Masjid, built by Shah Jahans son Aurangzeb at Lahore, Pakistan, is similar to the Jama Masjid. The Majestic Mosque for Indian Muslims is considered as the National Mosque of India respectively.
