•CURIOUS BOX FOR BABIES• I was inspired by @acraftyliving to make this activity. Easy to set up- two holes (one big and one small) then add a few baby toys. Macy was very intersted in this activity and spent some time peeping in and coordinating her movements to grab her toys. Later on we played peekaboo with it where I would put my face next to one opening and then she would peep in. Lots of giggles! Ok.. where do I start. The “EEZY PEEZY climber with top” is EPIC! I honestly can’t express how much we all love this. This is a must have for any kid. The climber encourages kids to be active/jump/climb/slide and move as they develop coordination skills. It can hold up to 70g and allows 2 children to climb carefree. It’s lightweight and simple snap construction. I honestly didn’t have any troubles putting it together on my own. I definitely recommend building it where you’ll be using it. I started to build it inside and realised that wasn’t a clever idea 😂 I love that it’s durable, weather & UV resistant and uses high quality plastic tubing. Our Early Years students have been well engaged in the #VirtualSchoolExperience. The children in Foundation 1 – Badger class had tremendous fun on learning how to make a shaker. So much learning for this age group came from using a variety of materials to make different sounds and the vocabulary connected to this activity such as loud and soft. 🚜 TUFF TRAY TRUCKS 🚜 DIG for #sensoryplayseptember Since we moved house, Mia no longer has a gigantic sandpit to play in so today I turned her tuff tray into a mini sandpit. I added the roads, trucks and pebbles to the tray before Mia contributed a handful of black beans before wandering off for nap time. 🌋🦕 VOLCANO🦖🌋 Our epic volcano play. We tried our hand at some science experiments. An oldie but still a goodie We tried out two reaction recipes: Vinegar, dish liquid and baking soda which created a nice bubble lava flow And the tartaric acid, water, dish liquid and baking soda mix which sent an stream of lava up into the air. DIY Fine Motor Activity Box • Yesterday I posted a picture in my stories of Little Miss playing with this DIY activity box. I got SO many questions about it, so I thought I would post it again for everyone who missed it the first time around. I made this 4.5 months ago and it still gets played with daily - by both kids! 🙌🏼 • I made this with my daughter in mind, since she loves wipe pouch lids and bottle tops, but my son ended up enjoying the activity box just as much as she did!😍 • SUPPLIES NEEDED: - A box that can open and close - Paint - Food pouch lids - Rubber bands - Baby food jar lids - Wipe pouch lids - Two large bottles - Sensory textures of choice - Pom Poms - Popsicle sticks - Tools: Hot glue gun, box cutter, scissors, paint brush, pen. • DIRECTIONS: 1️⃣ Start by using a box cutter to cut a slit in each baby food jar lid. 2️⃣ Paint the box and the jar lids and let dry. 3️⃣ Use your box cutter to cut small holes (slightly bigger than a popsicle stick) where the jar lids are going to go. 4️⃣ Hot glue the jar lids in place as well as the pouch lids, wipe lids, and the bottle tops. 5️⃣ Using a pen, poke a small hole below each food pouch lid. 6️⃣ Tie a knot at the end of the rubber band and slide it through the hole from the inside out. 7️⃣ Glue your chosen textures to the inside of the wipe lids. I used small foam balls, crinkle paper, straws, and the inside of a snack wrapper. 8️⃣ Add Pom Poms to the bottle and drop in a few popsicle sticks and your fine motor box is all set to go!🙌🏼 • What do you think? Did you know you can wet pom poms, dry them & then reuse? 😱 One thing I get asked over & over is “Doesn’t she just put it straight in her mouth?” ... and the answer is YES! Taste is a sense, and this is a sensory activity! Taking any and every item to their mouth is how they play, explore & learn about the world. I’m using nice big pom pom’s so it’s harder for Rory (12 months) to pop the whole thing in her mouth, rather, when she brought it to her mouth, she discovered on her own that she didn’t like the fluffy sensation on her lips or tongue. You know your child best, so offer safe items for them to explore how they choose. This activity offers opportunity for early Language skills - words are everywhere; “Splash!” “Wow!” “Up” “Bubble!” “Pop!” “More?” “Push!” “Oooo” “Cold!” “Wet!” “Squeeze!”. Rory is becoming a little parrot, mimicking sounds & words we make. As this activity requires full supervision (goes without saying! 👀) I was able to Play alongside her, using lots of words & sounds she might copy. This invitation is using our deep (high sided) Sensory tub, water, glass jars, pom poms & a large ‘sifter scoop’. Perfect for a warm spring day! Name of business: Beach Friends Sensory Club LLC Owner: Timothy Kanhai Year Open: 2020 What do you do? BFSC is a 2.5-hour early learning program servicing 15 children ages 1-5 years old in a mixed class setting. The program will nurture all children through play and learning. Children will experience a variety of learning through circle time, pre academics skills, fine motor, and gross motor, art, music, mindfulness, self-help skills, science, and cooking lessons. Each BFSC session consists of 5 – 30-minute blocks dedicated to a particular activity. The children will start their day with engaging and exciting circle time and pre-academic skills. It will be followed by fine motor skills, enjoying the sensory gym, art & music, and ending each session with self-help skills, science, or cooking. What sets your business apart from others? BFSC has a sensory room, a playroom, a gym, and an art room. BFSC provides children a space to learn by using their vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, body awareness, and balance at the same time.
