(ibid 31:19) These were G-ds words to Moshe at the conclusion of the previous Torah reading, Vayelech. Haazinu - listen, (literally, give ear), is the song that Moshe composed as the hours and minutes of his life were growing less and less. What song would you compose on your final hours if so instructed by G-d? Moshe chose to write about his two great loves - the people of Israel and the G-d of Israel. Moshe, himself, does not factor into his own song. Listen, O heavens, and I will speak! And let the earth hear the words of my mouth! Bear witness to my words, O heaven and earth, witness to G-d who created you, and to Israel, for whose benefit and blessing you were created. Moshes song is directed both to G-d and to Israel. The forty three verse song is built upon a dichotomy. Its opening and closing verses praise the power and perfection of G-d. The intervening verses point out the imperfection of Israel. Un piccolo omaggio a Rossana Rossanda, nel tono che avevamo a Cuore, sbertucciante ma spesso affettuoso se non addirittura consacrante. Il mio disegno era parte di uno Speciale Sanremo, credo del 94, dove giocammo sul ritorno del meccanismo di coppie che cantavano lo stesso brano. Inventammo una serie di duo improbabili fra cui la Rossanda - Sanguineti con testi esilaranti. Ebbi il piacere di disegnarle tutte io. Magari per il prossimo febbraio recupero lo speciale. 📍🎨 Trittico di San Giovenale, Masaccio La Madonna in trono con angeli tra i Santi Bartolomeo e Biagio, Giovenale e Antonio Abate fu rinvenuta vicino al luogo natale di Masaccio al quale il trittico fu assegnato. Realizzato da un artista non ancora ventenne, presenta influssi giotteschi che si sommano al tentativo di resa prospettica nella tavola al centro, secondo le nuove teorie di Ghiberti e di Brunelleschi. Non vi è invece traccia di decorativismi tardogotici, ma prevalgono elementi realistici. I cant write, I tried. This is just an exercise, bear with me. People will always find ways to accuse you, if you are posting something or not posting something. Dont wash your dirty linen in public, theyll tell you. And why people do that, because they want to believe that they are not alone. I write my story here to give out a message that I am suffering from a Writers block and if you are suffering from it too, you are not alone. Its one thing I love that hasnt left me(for now{hope it doesnt}). When you are passionate about something but you cant do it; it hurts you, well differently. Self doubt gets involved, frustration. (I cant think of another word) I tried to write. I was a graphomaniac in school. Dammit! my notebook and laptop are filled with awesome half finished stories. Social media has earned bad name over the years. Not an advocate but I use it to connect with people and to learn something new. I am not preaching depression over here. I want to know if you feel the same. Like Gulliver, the guy in the picture who always got into trouble for being in a wrong place with wrong people. He was either too big or too small. He landed in different worlds, did things to please different people of different kingdoms. Delusional to think they would accept him as their own. Some satire are hard to pick when your are young. Happy Carolina Day! Today marks the anniversary of an important battle that took place on Sullivan’s Island in June 28, 1776. Many historians consider this day the first significant American military victory in the American Revolutionary War. What you might not realize about Carolina Day is that our state flag and state name, “Palmetto State,” were a result of this battle. Colonel Moultrie designed the state flag after the Battle of Sullivan’s Island. The indigo flag incorporates the crescent symbol from Moultrie’s company flag and a palmetto tree that was critical during the battle. How powerless an emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar was! The Mughal Empire was in a continuous state of decline ever since Aurangzebs death. By the time Bahadur Shah Zafar became the Emperor, his real authority existed only within the walls of the Red Fort. The British Resident (representative of Governor General to the Palace), Sir Thomas Metcalfe, kept a firm eye on Zafar’s daily life and frequently forbade him from exercising rights that the Emperor regarded as sacrosanct. No nobleman from outside Delhi could enter the Red Fort without Metcalfe’s permission. To enforce his right to rent from his own lands, Zafar had to make an application to the British courts. He could not present gems from the crown jewels even to his own family members without first informing the Resident, and was occasionally, humiliatingly, made to ask for the return of unauthorised gifts if the agent came to hear about them. Zafar could not gift khilats (robes of honour, symbols of overlordship) on noblemen from outside the Delhi without Metcalfe’s say-so: when Raja Gulab Singh of Kollesur paid a visit to the court, presenting a nazr (or offering of fealty) of ‘a horse and 7 gold mohurs’, in return for which Zafar gave him a khilat, Metcalfe promptly made the Raja return it. A petition was received from Mirza Shoojat Shah stating that a chief had arrived and was desirous of visiting the Palace. Zafar replied that without the Agent’s permission no chief of a foreign territory could be allowed entrance.
