Definitely my sharpest point yet. As far as I know, this stone is serpentine, and for whatever reason, this piece got significantly sharper on the edges than any I’ve made before. I really like using slate because it is so available, and I can often get it to split into thin sheets that make it easier to shape, but I think this is a superior material when it comes to ground points. The downside is that it is a lot harder to work with, as it doesn’t break predictably so instead of splitting it, I have to peck it down with gentle taps with a hammer stone and grind away the rest. This means that it takes significantly longer to make a point than with slate, but it’s more impact resistant, and the edge on this one is unbelievable. I mounted it up in one of my cedar arrows using pitch glue and stinging nettles to secure it in place. Here is a terrific poster for Goal #15 by the wonderful Iranian artist Parisa Tashakori. Parisa Tashakori, Iranian graphic designer, art director and curator, was born in Tehran, Iran, where she was graduated in Graphic Design and was granted an honorary doctorate from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance. She has collaborated as designer and art director for several international advertising agencies and cultural institutions. Now, she works as art director in her own studio, focusing primarily on social and cultural communication. Tashakori was a member of the board of the Iranian Graphic Designers Society (IGDS) and was in charge of the society exhibition section from 2012 to 2015. Parisa’s works has been exhibited over than 80 exhibitions in various countries and has received some international awards including, COW! festival In Ukraine, Ekoplagat in Slovakia, Tehran poster biennial, Ukraine Ecoposter triennial 4thBlock, among others. She has been member of the jury for numerous national and international competition and festivals like Lahti Poster Triennial in Finland, Mut zur Wut in Germany, Samsun International Poster Competition in Turkey, 13th Poster biennial in Mexico, “Silver Cypress” in Iran, “Posterfortomorrow” in France, “and Anti -AIDS” in Ukraine. A Mora Companion that I modified and a happy sun topper I put on a @nathan_4071 ferro rod to combat the rain that is soaked everything last week. I removed the rubber grip from the Mora handle and replaced it with epoxy soaked jute twine. I can’t remember who I got this idea from but it isn’t my original idea. Last week I made it to 10k followers. While it’s just social media and that means nothing in the real world, it does feel like a milestone.
