It was after my first pregnancy. Despite my healthy lifestyle and well-built up slim body, despite my choice of healthy food my weight was going skyrocket! 22 pounds in 3 months. After run some tests my doctor discover that I have developed a thyroid problem. Long story short my weight elevate up 226 pound in nine months! With growth mindset and my own will power I was sure that I can become the slim and fit person that I used be. I needed to be healthy and strong both mentally and physically. So I started losing weight through talking to nutritionists. Every two weeks they gave me a new diet to follow. to do that they believed would give me the best result. It works and by my sons first birthday I went from 226 pounds to 158 pounds and by his second birthday I was back to 125 pounds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Then I became pregnant again and everything back to where it was. I was 218 pound AGAIN. I have to fixed it. I reminded myself that I did before so I can do again. This time I choose a different strategy. I decided to become my own nutritionist so I started to read and learn about different diet program. After a quirt back and forth I choose low-carb diet and specificaly Keto diet. I dropped 100 lbs eating keto and has been in ketosis for more than 4 years. I choose this lifestyle considering my pre-diabetic condition and have learnt to eliminate what no longer serves me! 😂😂 Storytime! 🤭🤭 . I want to start off by saying that this post is in no way bashing hair stylists, I admire what you do and its actually something Id love to do 🤭😍 . I had been in Spain about a year or more and went to the hairdressers I always went to. The usual woman that cut my hair wasnt there but another woman cut my hair who had been working there since before I started going so I know she was experienced 😅 what happened or what went wrong? Im not entirely sure, maybe something got lost in translation or maybe she was just having a bad day.. We are human and we all have bad days and make mistakes no matter what profession were in or how long weve been doing it for 🤷🏻♀️ . I didnt have the courage to go back and ask for it to be fixed 😅 and I also felt scared to find a new hairdressers or go back and risk wasting more money and coming away unhappy. . I eventually decided to try cutting my hair myself last year, right around the time I started taking care of my waves 🤭 My mindset was: Ive got nothing to lose, if it turns out bad Ill get it fixed and if it turns out great then Ill be saving so much time and money doing it myself 😂 . Over the past year and a half I have tried modified versions of the unicorn cut and Ive tried the pigtail cut and I think Ive had similar results with each one Ive tried 🥰 . Im hoping to go to a curly hair salon near me soon... Well see, but now Im nervous theyll see all the mistakes Ive made in my hair 😂😂😂 . . 8 years ago yesterday I had my first weight loss surgery. That started my long journey to lose 170lbs. It wasn’t easy, my journey was far from perfect and it wasn’t anything like I expected. In 8 years I’ve lost 170lbs. I had two weight loss surgeries and I went down 9 dress sizes. I also had a pregnancy after weight loss surgery and breastfed for 15 months. I couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who’s always encouraged my journey and those who were skeptics. When angels cry. I own these huge feathered angel wings (approximately 1.80 m high) and every now and then I used these as a prop for a photoshoot. This time Esmée is wearing (can you say that?) them in her first shoot with Studio Tjeerd in 2013. Dark brown leather straps with belt buckles are attached to the wings so you can wear them, but unfortunately the are very visible in front. So somehow or another weve to put them out of sight, whether it is in postproduction or straight in camera (which is always better). This time most of it was done in camera by draping Esmées hair just over the straps. Because I almost never touch models in a shoot, this was accomplished by the makeup artist Lesley de Haan. And in case you might have noticed and wondered what that brown spot is on the models right forearm: its a kind of birthmark. In postproduction/retouching such specific characteristics are untouched, because it makes the model the way she is. ANNIVERSARY 🎉Hi 🥰 how are you? I’ve missed you! Yes, I’ve taken a social media break for the last few weeks to take care of me. I’ll fill you in here shortly.☝️ But first, I wanted to celebrate my one year “no chemical hair die” celebration 🎉 with you. 🎊 I am an Autoimmune Warrior afterall😘 It was one year ago today, September 19, 2019 that I last colored my hair to make sure I had no grays showing for “The Dr. Gundry Podcast” @drstevengundry. 🥳💜 . . At that point of PP, I healed my painful esophageal erosion, extreme mucus, distended abdomen, a raw throat, cystic acne, chronic migraines, hair loss, helped lessen the FM, eliminated depression & anxiety AND stabilized my TSH and lowered my TPO to 1! I still wasn’t perfect though. As I had discussed with Dr. G, I still struggled with muscle recovery and leg and muscle pain. Finally, I recently found out why. The RMSF (Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever) I contracted 23 years ago was at an active level again. My muscles have been very painful and tight. Long story short, it’s been hard for me. Just like a Lymes patient, we struggle with muscle pain. I’ve been in physical therapy 3 days a week for several weeks to stretch and strengthen the muscles with tender and painful knots & trigger points. I have yet to take the prescription of #doxycycline sitting on my bathroom sink. I know I have to though. Hold my hand as I open the bottle on Monday. I’m already feeling the pain of the gut side effects of the doxy. It might be a necessary evil though. 😑In the year since, I’ve added more animal protein than the 20 grams I was eating since my MRI revealed degenerative issues in the C-Spine & back. Physical therapy and additional animal protein is already helping my condition immensely. I know that I have to have an hour minimum of stretch a day to my routine. Strengthening as well. I’ve also added dance 💃 and I’m having the time of my life! It makes me happy and doesn’t stress my muscles too much. Still makes me sweat 😓 all the while laughing & helping with my memory. The Islay Cask Company Lavatera ??? is a sample I wanted to share because it combines two of my favourite places in the world: Scotland & the Rhinegau in Germany. A 8 year old Caol Ila Whisky finished in a Pinot Noir Barrel from Balthasar Ress, a Winegut 40 miles from my home in Germany. Now for the Whisky. Bottled at a mighty 57% abv it packs a #whiskypunch! The sound of the Whisky got my taste buds excited but alas the balance, well: just doesn’t balance. The warm smokiness I love from the Caol Ila is hindered by the Red Wine finish, yet the finish doesn’t deliver a rich, chewy sweetness I was longing for. The flavour feels a little lost; like a disharmonised relationship which has either gone sour or needs longer to over come difficulties. Would I buy a €99 from The Islay Cask Company? Yes, but purely because of my relationship & love for the Rhinegau. For me, it’s a personal buy. You very likely had a “-teen” or “twenty-“ in your age when you spotted your first silver hair. Let’s dismiss the notion you can be too young to go gray and recognize that comment for what it is. You are “too young” to make other people and society comfortable with you revealing your silver hair with confidence because of the conditioning we’ve experienced about what gray hair means. That doesn’t make it true. Your hair color doesn’t define your age, youthfulness or vitality. You’re not too young. And the quicker we realize that, the quicker that barrier gets broken down. I feel angry.⠀ ⠀ I can finally say that without force that blows someone back in their seat, wondering what the hell happened. I used to withhold & withhold so I wasnt thought of as the bitch — then I would explode when I couldn’t withhold any longer. It was as if a volcano erupted. Holding back and not showing our feelings is what all polite Southerners are taught.⠀ ⠀ My dad was the same way — until he picked up a bottle of whiskey, then it would come out. He was a rage-aholic so I never learned to safely communicate when I felt angry; instead, I bottled it up until I couldn’t anymore & then I’d blow up.⠀ ⠀ As kids, we often get in trouble for being angry. It’s seen as disrespectful, so we learn to suppress it. This is especially true for women: We’re afraid to express anger because we’ll be labeled a bitch. Anger is so taboo in our society that even just calmly saying, “I feel angry” is enough to totally freak people out.⠀ ⠀ Look at an animal in the wild: When a mountain lion is trespassed, it will hiss & roar and raise its hackles to say, “Back off!” So often when we are trespassed, we allow it to happen because we want to be loved and liked. We’re afraid people will get upset, run or leave us. Our people pleaser programming overrides even when everything inside us is saying “Oh hell no!”⠀ ⠀ Allowing that anger to flow through our bodies instead of pushing it down is vital; left unexpressed, it can clog up your pipe until one day you realize you can’t feel anymore.⠀ ⠀ When I was going through my divorce, I’d warn everyone else in the house that I was going to be expressing some anger so they wouldn’t freak out when they heard a blood-curdling scream!⠀ ⠀ Now my therapist sometimes has me hit a couch with a tennis racket. Or you can punch or kick the air (not a person!). All of those methods can be very cathartic in somatically expressing these feelings & giving them an outlet.⠀ ⠀ Is there unexpressed anger you need to process? It’s time to harness that Kali energy and ROAR! - My hair has come a LONG way! I hated my natural hair in high school and straightened it every day, but I decided to embrace it in college. Four years later (and 2 months with CGM), and my curls are loving me as much as I love them.
- I did a big chop in October and have been slowly nursing my poor at-home bleach blonde hair, hot pink hair, and cherry coke hair back to health. Last night I didn’t use conditioner for the first time and I like the results, but my hair has been looking like the one on the right for a while :)
