Had a really cool conversation with my friend Mark Sullivan @thesnowboardproject earlier this week. 🙆‍♀️ It was a great way for me to relive some of the amazing snowboarding era that has been such a huge impact on my life. ❤️ We discussed Costa Rica during covid times (so grateful for this country 🙏🌈) and living my life by design. We mentioned achy milk boobs in Alaska, thaimassage with @baldisbeautiful to the unconditional love my hubbs @cholulaindahole shared during cancer treatment and then to my first date with @barrettcc 😜 We also discussed why there aren’t more women making a living beyond professional athletes in the industry- and where can women go once they transit out of their pro careers? And that’s a really good question. I would like to say that I’m really fortunate to work with a team of inspiring kick ass mentors that happen to be women- and we do what we do for women. 💃 That doesn’t mean I don’t notice that there arent more women in the actionsports space that are in leadership roles, or more importantly a part of the conversation. But believe me I notice the ones who are 👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 We also talked about a magic shred trip way back in ‘98, and some first descents with Craig Kelly @jeremyjones and I @lastfrontierheli An experience that shaped my view of mountains and myself ✨✨✨🙏 I’m sharing some photos from that epic trip that @gordoneshomphoto captured: 1st one is @jeremyjones swiveling his way into awesome, the next one was me and I can still feel my teeth chattering, and the last one is #craigkelly and I being free in the only way we knew how. The Devil All The Time (2020) True to its macabre title, this movie does feel like the Devil is present in the air itself as it is full of violence and evil doings of all sorts. While some of it can be justifiable, the rest is indeed diabolical. The story focuses on a number of characters who follow their own dark paths which ultimately converge in one way or another. It is a serious thriller with religious roots that keeps up the tense atmosphere while making you wonder if there is going to be a ray of divine light to dispell the darkness. The film is thoroughly laced with great performances, even from its unsung heroes; many of whom you will be able to recognize. Naturally, the most impressive is the triumvirate of Skarsgard, Pattinson and Holland as they adopt thick accents and transform into unfamiliar people. It felt so refreshing to see Tom stepping out if his childish Spider Man role and deliver a mature and gritty portrayal of an orphan traumatized by life. While the acting, tension and production are all A level, the plot slips into mediocrity through the disjointed storytelling. It tried to establish that True Detective atmosphere but couldnt quite creat the wow effect. Many of the events are predictable and a lot more could have been done to spice up the mini climaxes throughout the film. The religious aspect and subsequent dialogue could have used additional depth. UM YANG 음 양 is out!!!! We just gave birth to a waxy baby and feeling so proud of it. My record dedicated to my Taoist beliefs (beliefs that have rooted me to the earth and helped me to stay grounded through some strong winds) is a musical representation of my foundations in the balance of energy. Growing up my dad told me stories of balance - fables, parables and the like - and planted little seeds that grew in my being, making me who I am today. Without these balanced roots I might not be stood here today, and as they are the core of me, they are the core of my music. I make music to move the body, move the mind and move the soul, and this record shouts my mantra. It’s groovy and visceral, but freaky and cerebral, and always nourishing. The two sides of the record mirror each other in structure, people are playing in different time signatures at once but all part of a trance inducing tapestry, people are in different keys at once, even the notes of the melodies of the two sides are retrogrades of each other - the two sides are one whole. So in love with all the band, they are all such special people to know, work with, be around, share a space with, connect with. It might be my face on the front but this is their record too, and it was such a special experience making it together. All recorded live, straight to vinyl!! What a way to work. Lots of love to the band, to @nightdreamer_records and the incredible @artone_studio for having us. And lots of love to my team, because I can be hard to work with sometimes. I push and push and I’m always thinking 2 or 3 projects ahead of what we’re even doing, but it’s because this is my life’s purpose and I’m giving it everything I’ve got and am. Anyone who has been around me knows this project has been in the works since April of last year. The design team wanted to stay committed to the identity weve built at GMU without being redundant. Given up at birth, Pippa was raised by the owner of the Bonaventure Circus along with his wife. Born with a deformed leg and sacrificed to the will of a strict father, Pippa was lost and felt so unloved, always searching for acceptance. She sought out her rendezvous with the ‘Watchman’, a mysterious and elusive man skirting the edges of circus life, who claimed to know about her past. 🐘 In the present, Real estate developer Chandler Faulk sees the restoration of the grand old circus grounds in Bluff River, Wisconsin as a way to prove herself and to prove her uncle that she is not only capable of being a single mother, but proficient enough to handle this job better than her counterpart,Jackson. Then she stumbles on a mystery that spans time and could threaten her whole mission. 🐘 The Haunting at Bonaventure Circus is an interesting combination of mystery and Christian fiction. Although, I didn’t see much of the spiritual message in the story except some snippets here and there about believing in the God. However, I like the backdrop of the circus and the bond created between Pippa and Lily, the elephant calf. Both Pippa and Chandler struggle with insecurities and have to learn to trust themselves and the people close to them. 🐘 The story is a dual timeline. I like seeing the stories of the two eras come together and a mystery of the past continues until today. I have to admit the ending seems a little bit on the dim side. After creating a well woven plot, a nanny to hold responsible for everything seems a bit redundant. Yet it is highly readable and can be read as a general mystery or suspense novel.✝️ . . After much consideration and deliberation, it is with a tremendous amount of disappointment that we are announcing that this Falls Wildwood Revival is canceled due to the on-going effects of COVID-19. With so much uncertainty within our industry, the concern for the health and wellbeing of our patrons and team, and the windfall that this virus has brought, it became evident that this was the ultimate outcome for our event this October. However, all hope is not lost! Were actively working on a few things that we hope will materialize this summer and as soon as we have more information, well share so stay tuned!
