On this date, nearly a century ago, Thursday, September 21, 1922, the city established The Cal F. Johnson Park in honor of Cal F. Johnson. It was established for the Black residents of the city. Johnson invested money to make substantial improvements to the park including, lights, sidewalks, a Memorial Fountain and an Archway Monument.
