This is the wreck of the SS America. It was built in 1940 for the United States lines. She’s carried many different names over her 54 year life, including SS America, USS West Point, the SS Australis, the SS Italis, etc. In may of 1941 she was called for service by the U.S. Navy, where she served for five years until 1946. From 1946 - 1980 she successfully served once again as a passenger vessel, although she was shuffled between several owners, and went through several name changes. In the 1980’s she was sold to yet another owner, who had the intentions of refitting the vessel into a prison ship. When those plans fell through she was sold to another owner who planned to make the SS America into a five star hotel ship, but unfortunately those plans fell through as well. On new years eve of 1993 the SS America was towed from Greece. At some point through the Atlantic crossing the tow lines snapped, and all attempts to reattach the SS America to the tow ships failed. It was on January 18th that the America Star (SS America), ran aground at its final resting place off the west coast of Fuerteventura, in the Canary Islands. #TBT - 21 years ago this month, Crowleys tug Sea Victory towed the aircraft carrier ex-USS Oriskany from Vallejo, California, around the southern tip of South American via the Strait of Magellan to Beaumont, Texas, as it was too large to fit through the Panama Canal. The 112-day, 15,153-mile tow for the U.S. Navy marked one of the longest in Crowley history. The voyage was completed on schedule, on budget, and without a single lost-time accident or mechanical failure. It was a particularly notable due to the complexities of managing this unique vessel during several port calls for tug refueling. - @crowleymaritime on Instagram

The idea was to make an underwater pic (by showing the abyss), but I finally choose a spot with rocks (or the shot would have been « empty »). So I went there, & it was a nightmare 😂. I had to take the set, & the camera, throw away the lego and take the pic. BUT there were lots of waves, so I controlled NOTHING 😅. Most of the time, the set wasn’t well placed, the photo wasn’t clear (because of the particles), or Jar Jar wasn’t in his seat 😅. Also, the light was changing every minutes.. 70 pics later, I finally got the pic, and I’m so proud of it ! Of course, I used photoshop to upgrade the details & the color (mainly because I hate this « green shape »).
