I took Hayden to a very special place today. . On the way to meet our friends at the park I turned to Hayden and said, that’s where Mommy and Daddy got married. Though she doesn’t know what that means quote yet, and said she was in mommy’s belly then (no, you were still two years away!) .. it was a cool feeling to be back on those grounds. . BUT luckily I also learned a thing or two during my WackyBox development: Apply a layer of Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) to the black part. Leave it on for an hour or so, then wipe off. We did it twice on Sunday night, and 1x the next morning, and then it just seemed like he had too little sleep with dark circles under his eyes. Im sure youve had such ridiculous experiences too! I want to take a moment to publicly thank everyone who continues to follow Madelines journey. I have heard parents complain that when a child passes people often leave their page. It makes sense as I know first hand it is difficult to follow someone elses grief. Its so scary and if a click of a button can remove you from the reality it doesnt seem strange to me at all that many would choose to unfollow. Anyway, seeing that that hasnt happened and that you are all still listening is heartwarming. ❤️ It really is. So thank you. And I know Madeline would also thank you for continuing to support us- thats all she was worried about. Today I was really struggling. Its ok. This is normal. Its been 78 days since I last kissed this beautiful face. Our entire family is in grief counseling/therapy and proud of the fact that we are taking care of ourselves, functioning and somehow, in some way, managing our pain. If there is ever a way we can honor Madeline it is to do just this. I promised her we would be ok and we are working SO hard to make every day the best we can- obviously you all know where we learned that skill. While 78 days certainly doesnt make me an expert in child loss I have learned that you never want to be told to move on. Madeline grew in my body. We created her and we grew together as a family and an emotionally healthy parent or sibling will never ever move on. We will, of course, as life works, continue to wake up each day and smile and do our best to be good people and impact the world as best we can like Madeline taught us. But we dont want to move on. It is impossible for a mother and child to break their bond- even through death. She will always be with me. And thats exactly how I want it. I completely understand the thought process behind telling someone to let go or move forward but I believe our children are given to us for a reason and that Madelines work here on earth is not done as long as I continue to stay connected to her spirit and continue to spread her gift. All I know is that you cant be blessed with a Madeline Grace Guarraia and ever move on from her. We are lucky to have loved her so much. - @prayers.for.madeline on Instagram

‘We are looking forward to meeting up with people so that they can see the difference in Alice from last year. She looks so different and now has a gorgeous new head of hair.’ . . Alice was diagnosed with Aplastic Anaemia in January 2019, and in April 2019 had a stem cell transplant from a German donor found through the Anthony Nolan register. Here, Alices mum shares her story... . . ‘It came as a huge shock to us all as Alice had never really been poorly. She had been looking rather pale and was a bit lethargic but we just put her tiredness down to her having just started secondary school. After a routine blood test, we found ourselves in an ambulance on the way to Leeds Children’s Hospital. As you can imagine it was all very scary. . . ‘Alice’s specialist in Leeds told us that her bone marrow had stopped working and that she would need an urgent bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately her sister was not a full match but within a few weeks, Anthony Nolan had found her a perfect match and on 12 April 2019, Alice had her transplant. . . ‘She was very poorly for a few weeks afterwards due to the effects of the intense chemotherapy she needed prior to her transplant. However, Alice left her isolation room in record time - just 24 days after her transplant! She then had a long recovery at home while her immune system recovered. . . We will always be eternally grateful to both Anthony Nolan and her German donor for saving her life. Alice’s specialist nurse in Leeds is also funded via Anthony Nolan and she has been a fantastic support to us all. . . We ‘walked together’ last September and raised over £1,800 thanks to the generosity of family, friends and complete strangers. About 30lbs difference but the true progress wasnt visible, it is the growth I’ve had throughout my journey - mentally & physically 🤩 People think that getting “fit” happens in 30 days or with a 6 week challenge, but it doesn’t. It can be a great kickstart to your journey but it’s so important to realise that progress takes time and sustainable results won’t happen overnight 💯 I’m not super human, I’m just like you! I struggle at times - I’ve had days where I don’t want to go to the gym or do my steps, weeks where I have fallen off track and months where I’ve binged & felt like giving up all together 😶 HOWEVER… I never gave up & will not. Why? 💛 Because I DESERVE to feel good. And so do you! Quit doubting yourself & delaying because of how long it will take or how hard it will be. I feel like I blinked and Gigi grew up overnight. I can’t believe that today he heads off to Kindergarten! Gigi has been so excited for this day, he has literally asked every day since June if it is time to start K yet ! And while I am super sad I don’t get to do the official walk to school and first day drop off, I’m super happy that Frank is able to be there. I have been super fortunate that I have been there for pick up and drop off throughout preschool, that I know he is going to breeze through those doors without even looking back. It is strange times to start K during a global pandemic, and those days of parents being allowed into the class to comfort their kids are not possible, but I have confidence in Gigi. He is beyond ready to get started, and I know he will be just fine. I have confidence that the school community is going to take good care and love on him like one of their own. I have confidence that although this year may not be normal, it is going to be amazing in its very own way. I’m so excited for you my baby! And so In the wise words of Dr Seuss... I am proud of my roots and love my country.. but today I have heard terrible news that makes my blood boil & my heart break.. This young boy is Muhammad Ajmal. On Monday he was RAPED, MURDERED and HUNG from a tree behind his aunts house in Pakistan. He lived in a very small village and his killers got away as there is not too much accountability in small villages in Pakistan. They caught one of the men but there was a total of THREE MEN who did this!!! They should all be punished...the other two should not be able to get away freely. When his mother heard about this news she lost her ability to speak. His father fainted immediately upon finding this out and when he regained consciousness he immediately screamed out his sons name! 💔 THIS BREAKS ME.. & this happens a lot in villages, not just in Pakistan but a lot of other places too! Why isnt there more media coverage? Why is hardly anyone talking about this. I cant cover & spread every single story out there, but I will always use my platform to help others & to be an influencer that believes in justice. Please everyone I ask you to share this (even if its just a snap) and let the smile on muhammads face always be remembered! Friday night a uniformed officer on the Salt Lake City PD shot a 13 year old boy on the autism spectrum in his home after his mother called for a crisis intervention team. To put it into context, this is my 13 year old boy on the autism spectrum. He still needs help getting dressed, as you can tell by the picture. He doesn’t make eye contact and can become nonverbal when stressed. He can become frustrated and doesn’t handle confrontation well. But he has never told a lie, he’s unselfish to the point where he gives things away he wants to keep. Life isn’t going to be fair to him. And now, forever because of this, I’ll always have a fear that an interaction with law enforcement will go the wrong way. Please call and email Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall and demand a thorough, prompt, transparent, 3rd party investigation into this shooting. Yesterday was a pretty big day! The kids enjoyed themselves to the fullest and it made my worrying mama heart so happy! I love their school and their teachers beyond words and am SO grateful for all of the hard work and endless effort they put into making their school The Absolute Best! .... but like... it’s still me and I thought I would share some total fails with you that happened yesterday 💀💀🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️😂👏🏻 So I packed the kids lunches the night before (I shared on stories 👍🏻 🍏) Well at around 10am I got an email from Wentworth’s teacher reading “Wentworth’s lunchbox looks really full” and remind me that it was noon dismissal!! 😂👏🏻 for some reason it made me laugh so hard!! *** I’d rather send too much food than not enough!! 💀🤦🏻♀️ I knew it was noon dismissal but my late-night-lunch-packing-self didn’t put the pieces together. 🧩 Second thing— I didn’t put lentils in Avalina’s lunch box!!!! 🤦🏻♀️💀🤦🏻♀️ Argo she only had snacks to eat all day!!! Oh my gooooosh mom of the year award right here!! She told me as soon as I picked her up and we laughed about it and I of course apologized, I couldn’t believe I did that!! That is like... middle of the year behavior... not first day of school behavior!!! 🤦🏻♀️💀 Needless to say She had a hearty after school “snack” 😂 You win some... you lose some, but as a mom I feel like I lose every single day; yet somehow my kids still love me ♥️ - @thewadsquad1 on Instagram
