Certainly, people dont just uproot their entire lives and abandon their homes if circumstances werent dire. My parents fled Vietnam in April 1979. They didnt know their future fate but they did know they had each other and that was enough. Somehow they weathered that tumultuous journey and ended up in Pulau Bidong, Malaysia where they spent 14 months in a refugee camp. I was born right before we made our way to Fort Dodge, Iowa in June 1980. Were posing in front of the Impala my dad bought for $600 from his first job - a proud day, we took lots of photos. Funny enough, my dads favorite song at the time was Coming to America by Neil Young. It wasnt long before we moved to Los Angeles and my dad became an engineer working for various airlines to provide for our family of six. Recently, he opened up to us about his true love of music. It was a shock to us when it happened but my dad now sings in a vọng cổ band (Vietnamese chamber music) with his friends and occasionally has gigs on local Vietnamese television. Were all very supportive and love seeing that hes getting a chance to express himself. And yes, he definitely has an affinity for nhạc trẻ (youths music) aka NEW WAVE. 1. CCAD circa 1970. #CCADalumni Gary McAllister is in the middle of his undergrad years studying Industrial Design at CCAD. He came from the Appalachian Mountains of western Maryland, to the big city of Columbus, Ohio. Gary took advantage of the wide variety of courses offered to him, such as advertising, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Shortly after graduation, Gary landed his first job at an ad agency in Washington DC. A few years later he moved to Los Angeles to work at another ad agency. But working in advertising just wasnt for Gary. He began a decades long career in freelance illustration, working with magazine publishing houses, movie studios, and ad agencies. Gary even developed a product line that he designed, manufactured, and marketed himself. MYSTERY SOLVED! A week ago, we added Russ Cooks #1957ChevroletCustom Corvette to the #KustomramaLostAndFound section. Russ bought the already customized car in 1979. In 2003 he passed it on to his grandson Randy Koch. According to rumors, the car had been built in the Portland, Oregon area in the mid-1960s. Randy had no idea who the original builder or owner was, so he turned to us for assistance. We added what Randy knew about the Vette to Kustomrama and included it in our previous Newsletter. Well, guess what! It took about 15 minutes from we hit the send button until Ron Gerlitz had replied and filled us in on the cars history. Ron could tell us that well known Portland customizer #VonHunter had built the car. In fact, the Vette was his personal custom! WOW! Strike one. Ron put Randy in touch with Vons son Scott, who could confirm the story and fill us in with more details about the cars history. The updated story can now be found on #Kustomrama, along with a couple of remaining mysteries. Please get in touch with us if you have the keys to solve these. HISTORIC PRINT #28: 𝚂𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚔𝚜 & 𝙱𝚘𝚗𝚗𝚎𝚢 𝚊𝚝 𝚁𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚜𝚒𝚍𝚎 (𝟷𝟿𝟻𝟽) The Sparks & Bonney team wait in line outside Riverside International Raceway back in 1957 to check in for the December 1st 250 mile USAC Stock Car Race. The former Bill Stroppe 56 Mercury was now painted the familiar S&B team colors of blue with a white racing stripe. Reports on the number of entries range from 33 to 36 and owners and car numbers arent listed. We checked the February 23, 1958 USAC entry list at the same venue and the S&B car was running the same number. The program listed Jim McCorkindale as the driver but we have it that Billy Garrett drove and finished close to the front. On the far right you can barely make out the nose of the 57 Merc wearing the number 5. Using our same logic weve determined this was Jimmy bryans ride and that he finished in 11th in the December Race. 🔥Wouldnt this be cool hanging on your wall? Stasera ho nostalgia di Visa, sempre da internet spuntano fuori queste splendide foto di fine anni 80 o primi anni 90 riguardante una sconosciuta Citroën Visa II 650 Club immatricolata a Milano il 30/09/1988, penso le ultimissime prodotte, un po pasticciata come i cerchi della TRS o Leader e lo spoiler posteriore, risulta rottamata non si sa quando ma resta un bel esemplare, il colore argento rispecchia gli ultimi esemplari prodotti dove si stava avvicinando la moda dei colori più sobri e classici... LOST AND FOUND 3 (Historia del Debut) Años 1996 y 97 Mi primeras incursiones en automovilismo fueron en los inicios de los piques oficiales en Santa Rosa. En esos días se armaban autos clasicos V8, que eran los potentes que habían, Para lo cual preparé un Mustang del 66 La primera vez que fui a este evento junto a mi gran amigo Jaime Pena, la organización nos dijo para hacer una carrera de circuito a modo exhibición de 15 vueltas ( Obviamente eso de exhibición fue una Utopía) Lo único que exibimos fue irresponsabilidad y locura general, ya que correr con esos autos que tenían mucha potencia, pero nada seguridad, ni de frenos de disco, ni suspensión, era realmente un locura, por no decir estupidez. Pero bueno, eran otros tiempos y yo un irresponsable. Pero ese día sin saberlo participaría en mí primera carrera de circuito (no oficial) y así conocí a mis primeros rivales, uno de ellos fue Aurelio Gonzales Vigil y su famoso Studebaker del 57 naranja (2da foto) con quien disfrutamos y peleamos la carrera con trompos y varios sustos, al final nos hicimos amigos y me consiguió un motor mas grande para mi Mustang. Los años pasaron, comencé a correr autos y siempre que nos veíamos nos acordabamos y comentábamos sobre ese día y la locura de carrera que hicimos, siempre me decía: Acuerdate que tu primera carrera la peleaste conmigo!!! y nos reiamos. Lamentablemente él falleceria hace 6 años en un fuerte accidente en La Chutana durante una competencia de piques y en ese mismo auto, el Studebaker del 57 que lo acompañó durante muchos años en su vida y que le dio grandes triunfos. - @chubizani on Instagram

Hema Malini it became an average hit at the box office VW Porsche 914 manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche from 1969 to 1976. It was only available as a targa-toppedtwo-seat roadster powered by either a flat-4 or flat-6 engine By the late 1960s, both Volkswagen and Porsche were in need of new models; Porsche was looking for a replacement for their entry-level 912, and Volkswagen wanted a new range-topping sports coupé to replace the Volkswagen Type 34 Karmann Ghia coupé. 30 years ago, my Grandmother took delivery of her very first Range Rover, a 1990 Beluga Black County shown above. I don’t think she would have ever thought that 30 years later, she’d be buying her 8th one. If she hadn’t taken a chance on the low-volume, obscure British SUV, I know I would not be accepting a job at Jaguar Land Rover Princeton as their Encore and Marketing Specialist, as I am today. It’s a start that I hope will lead to a long career with Jaguar Land Rover and possibly, one day, to JLR corporate. I have to give a huge thank you to my Grandma, @landroverprinceton @kjpantano @gatherer_conti, and to everyone else who has advised and supported me in this process.
