This 🐈 image was pleasantly in my inbox this morn from my friend & plant shop owner @sobestow of Ashland after their recent visit to my studio..... Proud of those showing up to protest and defend PDX and support BLM. There is so much misinformation out there about what’s happening in Portland. All images of so-called violence, ignited by graffiti and the arrival of federal agents are taking place within a 1-2 block radius downtown late at night. Everywhere else the streets are calm and protests are peaceful. I don’t support violence or property damage and want the focus back on BIPOC voices and everyone’s safety. The use of teargas, rubber bullets, and flash bangs on protestors IS VIOLENT. The feds are not helping anything and false images/stories being spread about Portland are making it worse. ‼️NEW FAVE CHILD ALERT‼️ I’ve had my philodendron hastatum for a few weeks now and this gworl has quickly become my new fave. The silver in her leaves doesn’t even look real, and if the light hits it right, it can almost look blue! The leaves have this quasi-matte finish to them that’s so divine, I *cannot* stop staring at her 😩😍 but because of her silvery green leaves, it can be difficult to capture just how gorgeous and unique she is in photos. Lucky for y’all, I couldn’t decide which photo to post so I’m posting all three! You’re welcome😌 while you’re gazing lovingly at my child, here are some plant care tips that have been working for me👇🏾 . . ☀️I’ve got her in bright, indirect light. Monday Monstera 🌱 Wish list updated few weeks ago for this beautiful #monsterastandleyana when i saw this i fell in love with this and luckily i got a big one so i can hide behind it 😂 (no no this not so big or i m not 120 cm 😂) The Monstera standleyana is often confused with the Philodendron. This is due to their variegated leaves. But with the right eye, you’ll see the differences. Some people call this plant Philodendron cobra. However, Monstera standleyana is the only correct taxonomy according to the University of Minnesota. its beautiful variegated appearance makes it stand out. The basic strategy for watering is to water generously and letting the soil get slightly dry between the intervals. Keep them in bright indirect sunlight. How’s isolation going for everyone? I’ve gotta say, stage 4 lockdown is definitely not where I thought 2020 was headed. I’ve been struggling to make art since this whole thing began, I haven’t been able to finish a painting in months.
