Fesyen ramah lingkungan atau disebut juga sustainable fashion adalah sebuah konsep yang memikirkan seluruh aspek dari proses pembuatan bahan dasar hingga kain jadi sampai dibuat pakaian jadi. Konsep ini bertujuan agar seluruh individu dan perkelompok lebih bertanggung jawab dalam membuat dan mengkonsumsinya. Diperlukan produk berkualitas tinggi dan tahan lama, guna menekan limbah fesyen yang berkontribusi dalam 10 besar industry lainnya di dunia. Prosesnya yang lebih organic dan memerlukan waktu lebih lama dari pembuatan oleh mesin yang instan. Sehingga produk yang dihasilkan memiliki nilai seni yang patut diberi harga tinggi. Kain merupakan salah satu bahan dasar yang mendukung konsep ini. Dimana kain bebas dari bahan kimia, bisa terurai atau diproses menjadi kain baru, mengurangi konsumsi air dan mengkaryakan sisa kain untuk menjadi produk layak jual. Dampak lain dari industry fesyen adalah bagaimana karyawan mereka diperlakukan; diantaranya upah dibawah standar, anak dibawah umur, lokasi dan fasilitas kerja yang tidak memadai padahal keuntungan yang didapatkan oleh perusahaan fesyen ini sangat besar. Bayangkan masa depan dari anak, sodara ataupun kenalan kita yang masih kecil ini. Mereka akan memerlukan cukup air bersih, lingkungan hidup bebas pencemaran nantinya Contoh ni, kalau kita punya baju favorit kan biasanya kan dipakai terus karna bahan enak, modelnya nyaman, kadang ada bolong kecil langsung kita buang. Nah, sekarang ini coba deh lobang tadi ditambahkan bordiran lucu sehingga terlihat tetap layak pakai. Jika kamu punya sekelompok teman yang bisa jahit dan membuat pola menciptakan konsep pakaian baru. Seumpamanya kita punya kenalan yang punya baju-baju lama bisa loh kita recycle atau upcycle buat jadi produk unik yang baru, pastikan modelnya tetap elegan dan layak pakai. La robe avance. Jétais censée attacher les petits œillets en métal que jai fait, mais je les ai oublié chez moi. Du coup en attendant, jai décidé dattacher ce magnifique ruban que javais acheté en même temps que le tissus. Jai tellement hâte de voir le résultat final. Jai beau travailler à partir de peintures, denluminures, et de différentes sources, je suis toujours un peu stressée de porter mes tenues. La reconstitution en France est un milieu très compliqué où il y aura toujours quelquun pour dire que ta tenue nest pas histo. Même si je suis du genre à envoyer chier ces dites personnes, la vérité est que leur simple existence me causent pas mal dangoisses. Et, étant donné limportance et la place démesurée que prennent ces personnes, le monde de la reconstitution paraît parfois bien fade et terne comparé à ce que la vie jadis devait être. Ne laissez pas les gens amers vous arrêter. Les recherches nous amèneront peut-être à réaliser que nous avons fait des erreurs dans nos tenues, mais ce nest rien. I started off loving dressing up when I was very young, adorned in my grandmas oversize ballgowns from the 40s and 50s. Hand making her own clothes my grandma had many outlets for her creativity, and I followed her lead, embarking on a creative career leading me to become a textile designer.⠀ After a quite a few ups and downs I landed my dream job as a senior print designer, and while it was satisfying in some ways I began to feel increasingly unhappy. Late one night, still at my desk doing admin and feeling overwhelmed I had a surprise call from an old friend (another textile designer) and as we gossiped about our current jobs and how much fun it had been working together at the start of our careers it made me realise I needed to change direction. ⠀ Having this at the back of my mind made every day even more of a struggle, yet I didnt have the confidence to break away from the seeming security a day job brought me. There was always an excuse or a reason to delay leaving.⠀ Another birthday came and went, but I received a very special gift from the same friend I had had the surprise call from previously. It was a beautiful illustrated book of botanical flowers. As I leafed through the pages, my imagination sparked and I started drawing out a plan for a print collection, I felt the same way I had when I worked as a studio designer free to create what I wished with no meetings and no admin.⠀ It became clear to me that the constant pressure to do more, better, faster and at a lower cost is a problem with fast fashion, and it was crushing my creativity and passion and in turn my self esteem.⠀ This was finally the moment I gained the courage to break free and began to build something I truly believe in. When companies cancel orders, more often than not, the raw materials have already been purchased. Leaving the factory out of pocket and with fabric that they may not be able to use for other companies orders. This creates waste. Last October, we explored the store rooms of one of our favourite supplier factories, owned by Pallavi and Rajiv. They told us the tales of cancelled orders over the years, and showed us stacks of waste, surplus to requirement, beautiful vibrant materials. We decided to make it our mission to create new products from the fabric which was already there. And so, we introduce our first products to the Surplus collection, a stunning range of throws, which used up a huge stack of surplus fabric from an order cancelled a few years back.
