JUST ANNOUNCED The Denver Art Museum is proud to announce Paris to Hollywood: The Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck, an exhibition that will present 100 ensembles—by 15 different couturiers and designers from around the world—from the wardrobe of Parisian writer, philanthropist and fashion influencer Véronique Peck. A selection of haute couture, fashion sketches, photographs, film clips, family snapshots and documents, such as letters and receipts, will be exhibited publicly for the first time, providing a unique look into the style of one of Hollywood’s most beloved couples. The presentation will cover more than four decades, from the 1950s to the 1990s, highlighting how fashion changed as the roles of women in society evolved in the 20th century. Paris to Hollywood is organized by the Denver Art Museum and curated by Florence Müller, the DAM’s Avenir Foundation Curator of Textile Art and Fashion. On Nov. 4, 1960, filming wrapped for The Misfits, the last feature film both for Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable. Gable died 12 days later of a heart attack. Directed by John Huston, the film was released Feb. 1, 1961, on what would have been Gable’s 60th birthday. Она очень понравилась Кларку Гейблу. А в те годы нейлоновые чулки – суперписк моды, редкость, дефицит, только-только стали делать, поэтому и дорогие, кроме всего прочего. Он ей подарил перед Рождеством пару нейлоновых чулок, и на одном он написал «Рождество», а на другом «Новый год» и записку оставил, что «я очень надеюсь, что вы позволите мне зайти к вам между Рождеством и Новым годом». Слегка рискованно, конечно, но довольно остроумно. А вообще он не сказать чтобы такой уж хороший актер, не выдающийся, если совсем честно, зато в нем была харизма колоссальная, и это обаяние мужское пробивало все. Гейбл даже с возрастом становился все интереснее. Как Хемингуэй. Молодой Хемингуэй вообще внешне не интересен, а уже после пятидесяти и дальше Хемингуэй прям красавец.
